Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

Is it true for all the cultures? A universal fact?

What are the reasons behind it?

Is this a recent phenomenon or it was followed since centuries?

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

If you're referring to Bollywood then yeah.

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

I guess sex sells across all cultures but what passes as controversy varies by society and era.

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

It’s hard to understand why people consider Hollywood as ‘holy wood’ compared to Bollywood.
The theme is sex for both industries, in most cases. Differences is bollywood lacks expertise and quality of representation of the content.

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

Can anyone give me example of sex selling? It will help me to understand topic....

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

Sex is in human nature. Whether someone is religious or athiest, poor or rich humans will always be attracted to it. Humans ko chorain even look at animals.

The difference is how a society perceives it. I think society as a whole now is more open to this hence it being a more recent phenomena. There is a reason why every ad will either have an unrealistically hot looking lady and a guy with abs rather than more normal looking people.

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

^ Okay.. It is objectification of sexes... like showing a girl in car advertisement... and saying double meaning sentence like "have a test drive...."

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

^ Yep. The companies know people will ''connect'' more easily to a message in the ad if you see a pretty woman. Look at chocolate ads, all of them have a close-up woman taking a sensual bite when the ad could do without it. Its done for a reason.

Re: Nothing Sells like Sex and Controversy

Bad sex creates controversy.

Controversy about anything sells.

When you compare Bollywood with Lollywood, one can derive same conclusion. people enjoy ‘Munni Badnaam hui’ and ‘Kuwan main doob jaon gi’ but they are afraid of ‘Pyar di ganderi’ and ‘Manji cheekhan maare’ :smack2:
