How can the '2 weighty things' mean: Quran & Sunnah when the Prophet(saw) commanded against writing anything about him?
There is a sahih, amongst the thousand of sahihs, that commands against the writing of 'his ways'.

Faceup, I do not claim to know EVERYTHING about islam, but I am quite sure that the closest meaning of the ayat refers to "Sunnah", and not ahl-e-bait. It is not required that sunnah be written for it to be passed on to next generations. Also, we all know that even Quran was never compiled in the earthly life of our Prophet (SAW), and it was only in the time of Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Tallah) that it was finally compiled for preservation, and in the times of Hazrat Usman (Razi Allah Tallah) that it all the "airab" were placed to safeguard the correct pronunciation. So that proves that writing something is not the primary issue, but preservation of knowledge is the key.

Secondly, while we must give all the due respect to ahl-e-bait, as they are extremely revered, still the Prophet (SAW) made it very clear at numerous occassions and ahadith, that superiority for muslims is only based on taqwa (piety), and not on inheritence or lineage. Therefore, the mere fact that someone is ahl-e-bait, therefore should be revered above every one else, directly contradicts the teachings of our Prophet (SAW).

Thirdly, just for the record, in my 21 years of study of Islam, fiqh and ahadith, I had not come across a hadith (in Saha-e-Sata'a) which states that the Prophet (SAW) forbade to write down anything about him. In case you have a source (Book+Chapter+Serial Number) please provide it to me. This is very important. I would not imagine, that a person of such stature and piety as Hazrat Bukhari (who compiled Sahih Bukhari) would go against a direct order of the Prophet (SAW).

Pristine,

1) Re: Prophet forbade that his sunnah be written down:

"Do not write down anything of me except the Quran. Whoever writes other than that should delete it" (Ahmed, Vol. 1, page 171.....also Sahih Muslim)

2) Why 2 weighty things & the rope means Quran & Ahle bayt:

i) It cannot be sunnah due to above #1.
ii) It is Ahle Bayt or Ahle Muhammad because Abraham's line continued down to Muhammed (saw) and that line continues as Imams/Caliphs down thru Muhammed's progeny until they i.e quran & his progeny are re-united with Prophet Muhammed at the fountain Kauthar(spelling may be incorrect)!

3) Pls comment re: scandalous account of the prophet's sexual life in the sahihs and its necessity ! The anti-Islam sites are mocking our Prophet(saw) because of these particular sunnahs/hadiths.

Faceup... I can not comment on this statement without researching it, as I do not write anything on Islam without being absolutely sure.

However, I will like to know which particular references do you find objectionable? Does that fact that our Prophet (SAW) married 11 times, one of those things referenced in your statement or do you mean some other references. Also, pls provide references of the anti-islam sites which you mentioned.

Thanks

Muslim scholars differ in answering two questions
pertaining to the companions of the Messenger of
God:

  1. Who are the companions of the Prophet Muhammad?

Most of the Sunni scholars consider all those who
adopted Islam during the time of the Prophet, saw
the Prophet, and prayed with him to be of his
companions. However, it seems that the Messenger
himself did not agree with these scholars. Al-Tabari
in his History part 3, page 68, reported that there
was an argument between Khalid Ibn Al-Walid and
Abdul Rahman Ibn Awf when Khalid killed some
members of Banu Jadhimah.

The Messenger of God sent Khalid as a missionary
for Islam (not as a fighter). Khalid exceeded the
order of the Messenger and killed a number of men
from Banu Jadhimah after he gave them the
assurance of no-harm.

Some men from Banu Jadhimah had killed Al-Fakih
Ibn Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi, uncle of Khalid,
and Awf Ibn Abd-Awf, father of Abdul Rahman,
before the conquest of Mecca. Now Khalid acted
in revenge in spite of the Prophet's orders.

In their heated dialogue, Abdul Rahman said to
Khalid: "You followed the method of the
pre-Islamic era." Khalid said: "I only avenged the
killing of your father." Abd Al-Rahman: "You lie. I
already killed the killer of my father, but you
avenged the killing of your uncle."

Their heated argument led to a verbal abuse on the
part of Khalid. When the Prophet found out about
it, he said to Khalid: "...Khalid, leave my
companions alone. By God, should you have a
piece of gold the size of Uhud Mountain, and you
spend it in the path of God, your charity would not
compare to a morning or evening trip in defense of
Islam by any one of my companions." (Ibn
Hisham, in his Sirat of the Prophet, part 2, page
421).

This statement of the Prophet indicates that Khalid
was not considered a companion of the Prophet
because he told him to leave his companions
alone.

Thus, the Prophet clearly indicated that Khalid is
not one of his companions. Yet, this statement was
uttered by the Prophet after the conquest of Mecca
(which took place two years after Khalid adopted
Islam, shortly after the pact of Al-Hudaybiyyah).

The exclusion of Khalid from the community of the
Prophet's companions means the exclusion of
thousands of companions who adopted Islam
during the time of the Prophet, who met the
Prophet, and who prayed behind him.

Subhanallah,

All of you guys can't keep a topic from falling apart, can you?

A11shah,
Your topics are nice but instead of after-bashing keep calm, cool and colected this will show your faith as clean, and peacefull!

As for what I think,

Islam is for all of us NOT for Shias or sunnis(or all sahabas)! It is our duty to always find the truth and keep it within our boundries! And frankly this is truth!

Prophet Mohammed(PBUH)nominated Ali as the next Wali to mankind after him!(see sahers post above) So why the heck did Abu,Umer and Usman come along and claim the Chaliphate?

As for hazrat Ali, I would'nt have loved him less if he was not made Caliph!

Hazrat Ali wanted the Caliphate NOT for power(like the 3"rightous") but to improove the situation of the Islamic world He said

"I care as much for caliphate as I care about my shoes If I leave without Improoving the situation of poor muslims!"!

Dear all

This string has shown the beliefs of this Shah character, calling Umar ibn Al Khatab a heretic. My Dua is that the Ashara Mubashara - the 12 companions are not worthy of such degenerative vibes the Rafida Shia hurl upon them. These companions are pleased with Allah as Allah is pleased with them, and may Allah curse those who curse them.

Shah, we gcould go on for all infinity citing the fallacy of the Rafida shia, - may Allah either guide you or smite you off the face of this earth - Amin.

So much for Shia-'Sunni' unity ha MalikG sahib??

Re: Not all Sahabahs were righteous

I came across numerous ahadith in* Sahih Bukhari* on the issue of companions, I don't know if anyone else has looked at them.

Volume 8, Book 76, Number 585:

Narrated Abu Hazim from Sahl bin Sa'd:

The Prophet said, "I am your predecessor (forerunner) at the Lake-Fount, and whoever will pass by there, he will drink from it and whoever will drink from it, he will never be thirsty. There will come to me some people whom I will recognize, and they will recognize me, but a barrier will be placed between me and them." Abu Hazim added: An-Nu'man bin Abi 'Aiyash, on hearing me, said. "Did you hear this from Sahl?" I said, "Yes." He said, " I bear witness that I heard Abu Said Al-Khudri saying the same, adding that the Prophet said: 'I will say: They are of me (i.e. my followers). It will be said, 'You do not know what they innovated (new things) in the religion after you left'. I will say, 'Far removed, far removed (from mercy), those who changed (their religion) after me." Abu Huraira narrated that the Prophet said, "On the Day of Resurrection a group of companions will come to me, but will be driven away from the Lake-Fount, and I will say, 'O Lord (those are) my companions!' It will be said, 'You have no knowledge as to what they innovated after you left; they turned apostate as renegades (reverted from Islam)."

Re: Not all Sahabahs were righteous

This Hadith in no way gives every tom, dick and harry to curse and malign the companions, nor is it a verdict against the Caliphates of Islam.

The thread will be closed, if a valid doctrine needs to be discussed open a new one.
