Nose Piercing

Just need some quick advice.

I want to get my nose pierced so I can wear a nath on my wedding day, which is in about 7 months time. But I’ve heard that you can get infections, etc, so when do you recommend I get it pierced?

Also, I’ve heard of a nath where you can’t see the clip-on, it’s just a very small piece attached to the end of the nath on both sides which you can’t see, so nobody can tell whether your nose is pierced or not. If anyone has any pictures, then please post them so I can see what that looks like.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Nose Piercing

I can soo relate to you - clips are visible and disturbing ... they look disturbing unless you use a separate clip where you hang the nath which models do on ramps and all .. ill see if I can find a picture - its better to have your nose pierced 3-4 months in advance at least. Getting used to it is another reason too... I usually sneeze a lot in winters so mine got ruined!!!

Re: Nose Piercing

well here if we want our ear nose pirced we have to go to the hospital.....u should be careful wen u go to priece ur nose..tc of hygiene, its good to do some months before wedding so it settle down on ur wed day.....i had a bad exprience and on my walima i was bleeding while trying to wear the big roung nath ...

Re: Nose Piercing

Thanks obsession. I'm thinking of having it pierced because it will look better, but I'm not going to have a stud in it after the wedding, so I'm thinking whether it's worth the hassel anyway? Also, if I do get an infection, how long (approximately) do you think it will take to clear up?

I'm in the UK, so I don't have much of a problem in regards to hygiene. I'll be getting it pierced from a well known professional. Did you manage to get the nath in on your walima? And why did it bleed?

Re: Nose Piercing

i got my nose pierced 6 months ago n its absolutely fine now... yup i faced few problems earlier but not too much... got it pierced with a small silver ring
(chandi ki bali) n after a month i replaced it with a small piece of dried neem stick...( it cures fast). for mild infection i used FUCIDIN cream... i dont like tht bali with clip... it hurts a lotttttt.. also wanted to wear nose pin after marriage... so i had to go through nose piercing :D everyone says it looks good

Re: Nose Piercing

nath is thick than silver bali... so it could bleed if u change it n try to pass something like nath thts y old nani n dadi's suggest to use Neems trees dried stick... it cures fast n also make nose piercing adjustable to wear all kind of accessories like nose pins n naths etc

Re: Nose Piercing

Thanks for the tips. But I have a few more questions.

What is a neem stick? And will I be able to get one from the UK? Won't a nose stud be better? I think that's the standard thing they use here.

And from what you said, I gather 3 months before the wedding is fine to get the piercing?

Re: Nose Piercing

I got mine pierced last week & she used a gun... I've been using alcohol swabs to clean it a couple of times daily and so far its fine m'A... :)

Re: Nose Piercing

You should be piercing now...to give your nose time to recover and completely heal by the time of your wedding.

Also...just in case of infections or whatnot...you need to allow that time.

Re: Nose Piercing

You just have to be careful with cleaning, applying ointment and try not to wear imitation, that may cause infection.
I got pierced mine with a gun, i cried though :S but it was just fine in a weeks time.

Re: Nose Piercing

love the neem stick idea, its the best healer

Re: Nose Piercing

Thanks girls. I’m going to get it pierced next week ( I think :bummer:). I’m a bit scared and I don’t really like changes, lol. But in the name of fashion/tradition, I’ll get it done.

Nose Piercing

Make sure you get a needle piercing and not gun. Also warm salty water(water that's been boiled) is best to clean it.

Re: Nose Piercing

What’s the difference? I thought all the professionals do it with a gun in the UK.

Re: Nose Piercing

I had my nose pierced with a gun in 2007. Despite all these years the issue I keep having with my nose piercing is that even if I leave it stud-less for a day, it will start to 'close' on itself- and because I keep losing my nose studs I just use a neem stick (it's antibacterial, so alls good).

Now just hoping I'll get a big massive nath from the Mr's side ..........

Re: Nose Piercing

Thanks for that bit of info. I’ll be glad if it closes up after the wedding because I don’t intend to wear it afterwards anyway. :DDo you know where I can get a neem stick from? And how soon can I put it in after the piercing?

And insha-Allah you will get the nath you want. :flowers:

Nose Piercing

Guns only really work for ear lobes so for standard piercings. Needles are used for all other ones, or should be. So find a piercing specialist. I think sometimes a tattoo and piercing specialist is best as they deal in piercings alllllll day. Your local jeweller is not.
Also apparently nose piercings will heal as soon as you take your stud out no matter how long you've had it pierced :-/

Re: Nose Piercing

Aaliyah1- OMG what, no wonder I always struggle each time I lose my nose stud!!!

Disney Princess- hehehe my wedding has been delayed since years and years so all I've been doing is waiting! I actually can't wait to have it out :P bring on the nath!!

Re: Nose Piercing

I've just done some quick research on needle and gun piercing, and it seems there is more benefits for needle piercing than there is for guns. There is a higher risk for infections and damage with a gun than there is with a needle piercing - which seems to be more accurate.

It's pretty scary. I've decided that I'm getting it pierced by needle, it seems alot more safer. Just have to find a piercing specialist now.

Thanks nuclear for telling me about the neem sticks. I'll try a herb specialist. I'm not in London, but I should be going there soon. However, if you do go down, do have a look please and let me know the name of the shop where I can get them from.
