has anyone done it? how long did it take to heal? did you have to keep cleaning it for months or did you just took a lot of care with it for the first few weeks and left it alone after? and how long after getting it done were you able to change the stud/ring?

It didn't hurt when I had mine done. It took a few weeks to heal, and unfortunately I got my nose pin caught on something and it tore down my nostril. So the hole is much thicker, and the head of the pin sits lower. I waited at least 2 months before trying to change the pin. Mine didn't get infected, either. Just be careful around it. It does remain a little sore for up to two weeks or more after, but it's not horrible pain.
I'm a wuss and I'd do it again (if I didn't already have it done!).

Matinee, pain is not a factor for me (moi has really high tolerance for pain). i'm just worried about the piercing taking forever to heal. i have a frd who had it done years ago, and she keeps telling me how she had to keep cleaning it daily for almost half a year because if she didn't, it would start to get infected. but since you didn't have any such problem, i am guessing hers was a special case :S

I got it done here in New York and it dint hurt very much…but oh boy teh changing the pin was a *****, it hurt like hell. in fact my nose was left irritated for a few months, til i finally gave up and let it close up.
a few months later i was in pakistan and on a whim i got it done again. HURT!!! and then my aunts , that same day took out the nose pin and put a gold one in. I’m sure they could hear my screams all down the gallis 
The next day, we put the back to the pin in and..again…hurt like hell.
now its been 2 years and no infection, no problem whatsoever

sara, i am allergic to everything but gold or platinum (i'm even allergic to silver :() ... i had my cartilage done with a gold plated one, and it got infected within an hour. i had to let the hole close up and had it done again using a needle and 10k gold ring. i already have a gold stud that i want to put in my nose. do u think they can use it? or will i have to get a gold plated 1 and change it later?

it doesnt take long to heal, prob 2 days at the most... i got mine done when i was 16, i do remember it aching a little, but honestly, it wasnt at all painful... even my sister who cant handle pain got it and she was cool with it...
u dont need to worry about cleaning it.. i mean u could use that solution they provide for the ear if you'd like.. i cant even remember whether i did that or not (i sound like an old amma)

I got mine done at home with a needle and stud and then changed the stud and replaced it with a ring, it got severely infected. I came back home (did it while I was away in college) and my dad got really really mad (he thinks its so unprofessional...lol) and even madder when he saw how infected it was, he then put a thinka in my nose (it was neem ka thinka) and it just sucked up all the infection, i would replace the thinka in 2-3 days... after it got mushy... and my nose piercing was all healed and great... The thinka was really tiny so Alhamdulillah my nose piercing is so small no one can even tell that I have a piercing.
On the other hand my sister got it done in karachi and the guy put a silver thin wire, once again her nose piercing is also very tiny and only the tiniest dainiest little pins will go in (which is what we wanted all along) the wire helped her in it not getting infected, you can put something like dettol on it and then move it around that reduces chances of infection. It doesn't hurt too much...its always best to change pins after its completely healed.
And you also need to have something in it for a couple of months or a year till you know that the piercing won't close up.

I got mine done in New York about 6 months ago and I was so scared its not even funny..I was squeezing my sisters hand the whole time while my lovely cousin decided to videotape the whole thing..lol...anyway after she pierced it with a gun, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be...she told me to keep my stud in for at least 2 weeks..i kept it in for 2 months just to be on the safe side...then i ordered another one from qualitynosestuds.com great website i tell you..when i took it out OMG i thought I was gonna faint but after like an hour it was ok the trick is to not think about it too much and twist it as much as you can and clean it with an alcohol pad every night before you go to sleep...but now I love my nose ring it makes me stand out and I can change it all the time!

i got mine done today and it did not hurt at alllll!!!! the stud looks beautiful, but i was told to clean it 3-4 times daily with sea salt thing that they gave me ... but i am soooo excited about it that i don't even mind cleaning it so much :)

I jst went to a tattoo parlor a few weeks ago and got it done.. and it did hurt the first whole week.. i had some antiseptic from when i got my ears pierced and i started applying that and the pain subsided.. jst make sure u keep it clean n please.. make sure u dnt get the nose pierced with a piercing gun.. its not legal in canada.. and i had an incident where the lady pierced my nose with the gun and it ended up severing the nerves in the nose.. so be carefull..
