Currently are there any safe places to visit in Northern area of Pakistan…places that are scenic/pretty…etc…
like Sawat…Shangrila..Gilgit?
Well I am visiting Pindi for 3 weeks in June, so anythere that is near there would be great. Anything but Murree. I have heard of Bhurbund, but I also hear that other than PC hotel, there isn’t much there? Please advise/suggest a place to visit for 2-4 days.
Knock-out, not lucky enough :(
I wish I can go for 2 months but 3 weeks is all I can manage. I wanted to visit some scenic place aside from the typical family visits. Any suggestions?
If you wanna stay close, goto this place near Ayubia, I forgot the name, but its not too far from Ayubia, and the name starts with K, and it comes under NWFP. aargh, I cant believe I forgot the name! The only thing you gotta watch out is that theres alot of monkeys over there at this time of the year. Its beautiful, NATURALLY green, and amazing weather. The weather in Islamabad today was amazing, and thats the sort of weather you can really enjoy, as far as the hill stations near Islamabad are concerned.

Spock, Are you talking about Kuza Gali? That's where there are alot of monkeys. And it comes under NWFP.
And Afro, drive past Murree further towards NWFP. You'll love each and every sight while you're driving. All these places are also safe to visit. But be careful while driving because the track gets much more smaller as you reach NWFP so it's harder to drive. At some of the spots of the track, there is space for only one car to go at a time so when there are two (because it's a two way track, anyway), one car has to wait until the other one has passed. So the driver has to be very cool headed and not in a rush to pass first which could be dangerous.
Also, Thandiyani is another place you could enjoy yourself at, if you wanna stay close to the city.
Same question. What is there in Thandiyani, is it a city in itself, or a local park? Sorry yes I am lost when it comes to places back home. Also how far from Pindi, just an approximation?
Its a small place, the last time I went there, they basically had one large rest house over there, and some PTV building, with a huge antenna on top. However, its just amazing, the view, the greenery and the weather! I think it will take you 2-3 hours to get there from the M2 motorway junction. I can ask again to make sure.
I am not sure how safe Sawat is these days but that is THE place to go! My family and I spent 5 days there a couple of years ago and the place beats Switzerland. So peaceful and serene. We went to Meingora (not my fav city there), Malam Jabba (a gorgeous peak, you can do horse back riding, hike on the trail to Green Valley i think its called etc), ate fresh water trout at a place i cant remember the name of, they had a farm there, Miandam, Kalam etc. We stopped at several places on the way to these small cities and enjoyed the scenerey and the good food. Kaalam is over rated in my opinion though.
i barely know anything about pakistan :( but when my family went a few years ago in the summer we went to nathia gali, as there were too many of us to really go properly north. it's easy to get to from murree or abbottabad. i really liked it there.
i hope my fiance is up for exploring northern pakistan when we're hitched!
