What! Then who'll protect our borders? We absolutely need the Northies to survive.
[/QUOTE]
Tommy the south is bordered by sril lanka, maldives, andamans, and ifyou really stretch it - Singapore. None of them are going to attack TN unless they run out of coconuts.
I worry more about Laloobhai and Jaya getting into a duel ... we absolutely need the mumbaikars in the middle. Simply not negotiable.

^I love Tamil- I tried to learn it once but decided I'd get a better accent if I put some pebbles in a bucket and gave it a good shake - yedda narla ingalllayya wud wud wud...
^ hahahahaha.. sounds like all tamils have 64 teeth, 32 which get in the way of "r" s and "t"'s..

phoenix, chandbeti… its nice to know people speaking the same tongue as you … its Marathi in this case…
D
Here's my limits of Marathi: Kau sangitla...kuta gaela....kay karthoos!
hi tommy,
thats great for a tamilian. only a tamilian can say that podaanga with that sort of flamboyance.u have made the most out of it buddy.but i really dont understand the nature of the northies.they would like everybody to learn in hindi but they will not even try to acknowledge let alone learn other languages.but to b frank they r very outgoing n freindly.they r good to move with but then they too resort to speaking in hindi with their own people.
hou about showing some real superstars films so that they get convinced about the greatness of south film industry:nahnah: ?!!!?!??!?!
^ I actually think those Southies should learn Hindi, in addition to English, as long as there's no compulsion to do so. And almost all who venture outside do pick up sufficient Hindi. You have to visit chaste Hindi/Urdu speaking districts and you will enjoy the beauty. If I can, I will learn Sanskrit, Bengali, Telugu & Urdu (probably in that order) to just be able to taste the original literature in each.
I haven't yet met one Southie outside of South that has any problems with Hindi.
As to southie films - barring exceptions I'm afraid it is a case of "largeness" and not "greatness" in the typical.
You mean South Indians don't underatand Hindi/Urdu at all???
There goes my plan to detect whether or not I'm speaking to a call centre in South India or not through mixing Urdu insults with my query.....
^ Be careful what you wish for. You don’t want to have to go interview with the same south Indian, two years down the road as your job moves offshore to Chennai. ![]()

It could be worse. Have you heard Southies talk Hindi / Urdu? It's a reformist Oduld agenda
hi,
thats true.however, i have met many people outside south who speak n behave true norhti but havent yet cme across even one single northi(barring ofcourse marvadi) who can speak the language of the place they live in/
Re: North Indians vs. South Indians
Mumbai is the Coolest place in India and mumbaikars are cooler than anyone else. Ethnically Marathis are closer to south Indians than North Indians. Even North Indians from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal are different from Northies from Rajasthan, Bihar, UP and MP. Infact India is too diverse to divide it between North and South India because Bangalis, Oriyas, Asamias etc dont even fit in that category, so do people from north east
Btw - All Northies call the southies as 'Madrasis' :D
Nice analysis. From a 'Madrasi'
