so leave your ego at home or kill it if you want to be a better muslim/human.this goes specially more for the mullahs and liberals. Pakistanis need to learn to be able to accept the fact that the other person might be right.
a discussion should be started with the desire to learn and correct ourself if we are wrong. but sadly it never does start like so, and so we keep on misquoting the Quran to support our flawed thinking, which is very disrespectful.
you have a brain, use it. you have a copy of Quran at home, when you hear some aalim on the TV quote it, then go on read the whole surah and understand the context, dont be like a zombie and believe what people say. That aalim might be wrong, but if you dont read Quran yourself and spread what the aalim has said, than you are spreading lies. Read Quran. It is the final word.
**reading alone will not make it explain everything. understanding religion is not by just going to the book and reading it. just like any subject, u've to spend years to learn that subject. u've to learn the religion by learning the language first then in-depth knowledge to understand Qur'aan and aHaadees. u can't just buy a DR. MOM book and start treating sick people. u need to go to a med school and spend years learning the medical sciences and only then u may treat a patient. wud u go to someone looking for medical advice if he is NOT a medical doctor? i won't even if he has a double PhD in Physics.
always remember that:

Agree and I am always shocked when I meet a muslim that has never read the Quran at least once in a language they can understand.

i agree reading Qur'aan with tarjuma and tafseer in ur own language is a MUST. its actually our religious duty. we should read may be ONE ruku a day but with full concentration and understanding. invest in a Qur'aan with a good translation and tafseer. may Allah help us all in achieving this goal...aameen**

Don't want to sound rude but I think God has helped us enough, he has given us hands to pick up the Quran and eyes to see what is written.
Not attacking you KKF.

i understand ur view point Sarab and its just a discussion. i respect ur views. sure, we do have hands and eyes to pick up Qur'aan and read it. we are capable of doing it but we need to spend many years of learning to achieve the desired level of understanding. thats all i'm saying and yes i agree with u that we must read Qur'aan and its meaning in our own language. :)**

Couldn't have said it better. Well said brother.
Lets not believe everything the dentist says (like a Zombie). You have a brain. Lets just pick up the books, read it ourself and then decide what to do with our teeth... and so on for our eyes, ears, stomach....etc. A (good) Aalim spends his whole life learning and teaching Quran + Hadith, but for us it doesn't matter. What a pity.
One shouldn't believe an Aalim blindly but at least one should consult different Aalims in order to come up to a good decision, while oneself also read Quran and Hadith. To try to correct them/proving them wrong with one's own study of Quran + Hadith is ridiculous, just like it is in case of dealing with an experienced Doctor, engineer,...etc. They have been thinking over different aspects of it, co-relating it with practical examples and other perspectives, for years.

thank you and YES bro...its our religious obligation to seek knowledge...especially pertaining to our deen. Having said that, we still have to go to ulema who spend years specializing in his field of experties. we have to make a n informed and edicated decisions in life including deen.
plz don't judge islam by some unscrupulous aalims.
wallaho 'aalam bissawaab. we must all remember our deaths and also remember that we will be answerable to Allah ALONE where we will NOT have a chance to argue. May Allah save us all from hellfire. aameen**
There are good scholars and there are bad ones. We need to find the good ones to guide us, because the following saying of the Prophet (saw) applies to all ages:
The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets. [Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasai, Ibn Maja, Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, and others]
But that shouldn't stop us from learning throughly the Quran and Hadith and discussing with scholars the points we don't feel like agreeing with them. Their is a strong possibility that they might have a perspective that clarifies our doubts and misunderstandings. The disagreeing should be within "Respect" and with the sincere search of truth. I was at times too rigid in not agreeing with the perspectives of scholars but with time I realized that we (part time readers of Quran+Hadith) are like swimmers who float on the top of a sea, but the true scholars (full time readers of Quran+Hadith) are like the divers who bring the precious diamonds from the core of the sea of wisdom that Quran has to offer.
Besides that people like me lose the "noor", wisdom and the vision of heart by wasting it through the sins of eyes, ears, tongue and mind. The biggest door that protects ones vision of Quranic understanding from polluting is the eyes. A lustful gaze hurt it the most.
Worst case scenario if I take the bad advice of a Doctor: Death
Worst case scenario if I blindly listen to an alim and never bother to read myself to confirm what the alim is saying: Hellfire

well, its NOT that simple. following a wrong path due to lack of knowledge can also lead to hellfire...if u can spend 25 years studying ilm e deen then yes u can do it for urself...MayAllah save us ALL from hellfire...aameen**
**

I don't think that is true, look at the people of Noah, they did not have access to any written rules, belief in 1 God alone is enough for those people to gain entry to heaven.
I would re-word what you say to this: Following the wrong path because you are too lazy to take advantage of the knowledge that is readily available to you can also lead to hellfire.
Can you provide a reference to this. I am very confused .
**
i do NOT sit down here with all my reference books. sorry i can't provide. its common sense. if choose to engage in qabr parastii, indeed i'm going on a wrong path and i'll be guilty of committing shirk which Allah says HE will never forgive and my destination will be jahannam...thats wahat i meant.
how many qabr-parast think about that consequence? they do it by devotion and wrongly think they are doing service to Allah...astaGhfaar! May Allah show us the SIRAAT ul MUSTAQEEM!**
**
well, that why u go to an aalim who will give u all the necessary referances. i know what is common sense and what i was told by my learned father.**

Ameen, May Allah show us the right path.
But brother, can you please tell me where does it say in Quran and sunnat that visiting graves of pious people is shirk. To the best of my knowledge, all the major sins and haram acts have been clearly mentioned in quran and hadees.
