Oh come on there’s so much in a name though. If I mention him I mention him by his Muslim last name and just block out the first name. I think about how I would intro him to friends and not so close family that might judge. It’s more to protect him. I’m not super religious but we value our families and heritage. Okay this is all very shallow and pointless but then if it bothers me, it isn’t.

Just as you value your heritage, he probably values his heritage also. Since he is half Italian, it seems reasonable he would have a first name reflective of his heritage.

Just as you value your heritage, he probably values his heritage also. Since he is half Italian, it seems reasonable he would have a first name reflective of his heritage.

His mother is half Italian and another version of desi, not Pakistani so his dadi of course named him that name that reflects his non-Muslim heritage. He’s spiritual but not relgious so it’s more because his dadi named him that not because of the religion it represents.

But I see what you all are saying. He’'s open to practice my beliefs with me. So I hope we get along.

I never said I was spiritual but not religious, he is because his parents were the same way. He doesn’t identify himself with any religion and is open to any religion. I’m close to my religion but not extreme.

I literally do not see why a name is a big cause for concern. Just come up with a lovey dovey nickname for him and get on with it. I would literally not care what their name is, as long as I am in love with that person, and they feel the same way.
