constant and loud tv is bad. then why do people keep it on?
sad that the actual people in the house are quiet and detached but tv is kept on.
how would you spend that time, do you think you will be more productive at work and less over loaded with info - unnecessary and wasteful as is the case with profuse watching of sitcoms, series and films.
would you be alright if you did not have tv at home?
(1-4 hr of avg programming/screening is fine on tv or multimedia PC)
About 1400 years ago, the muslims did not have a radio, let alone a TV. Unlike us, they used to go outside and know what is going on around them. 1400 years later, we not only have radio and TV, but also things like Phones, Cars etc. These might be considered blessings of Allah by some because Technology has made it easier for us to do things within minutes which used to take people hours to do before.
As for the things you mentioned in your first post, I agree. I have seen many who either sit in front of TV for 6-7+ hours (literally) or just leave the TV ON when they are not even watching it. I sometimes wonder too and still have no answer but perhaps imaan could be a very important factor in this? I am in no way saying that what we do is OK but maybe the people 1400 years back had strong imaan, and thus, was very easy for them to leave useless things because their hearts were attached to Allah Almighty. We, on the other hand, have very weak imaan and that is why we indulge ourselves in useless things?
aorund 3 weeks b4 my exams started, telly went loco.
I didnt bother to get a new one yet....lol
I get to read a lot more now. Im pretty satisfied with that.
And also, its the same day in and day out.......constantly bad news.
A few series I miss tough....lol ;-)
p.s off topic/i was told the michael scofield guy in prisonbreak is gay? tsk tsk
I am not a big fan of TV and I wouldn't care if there was no TV at our place. In fact, I would like the TV to be turned off at all times. It really annoys me when family members are watching TV loudly and talking over the voice of TV even louder.
When I was in the dorms…I didnt have a tv…and I survived it. Now that I am at home…i dont even watch TV much…perhaps about 1hr a day…max ..maybe a little bit more over the weekends (if friends are over or something).
this may be slightly off topic but…I hate when parents use the tv as a babysitter for their kids. Kids watch entirely way too much TV. I read an article which read that children under the age of 2 should be watch 0 hrs of tv
i was ADDICTED to TV as a kid!! Like i had to watch certain shows etc..
but now, there are a few shows that I esp like and try to tune into those.. but still.. i like to leave TV on.. just for noise :hinna:
