My mum thinks this way, she likes capped sleeves but not sleeveless on me, says she doesn’t like to see the armpits or something but it’s not like I walk round with my arms over my head all day 
I wear sleeveless in the summer anyway and so do a lot of the girls in my family, it’s not seen as much of a big deal amongst most of the ppl we know..
