No Shalwar Kameez!

My Dear i think you donot know anything. In that case Arabic is not the language of Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Jordan because all of these countries had there local languages, some of them are still there is villages and some of them are totaly out because Islam bring Arabic for these countries.

Even the punjabi language and all other languages are drived from others like sanscrik and persia. even the word punjabi itself is a persian word.

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

love your country. i love shalwar kameez and our culture.

Arabic shouldn't replace our local languages either.

Arabic is the language of liturgy for all Muslims, it should be used in the Mosque, for religious activities and when conversing with Muslims from other ethnicities but we should preserve our own languages too as usual for our everyday use.

Allah created all the various languages, it's a shame that Berbers etc. have rejected their own languages for Arabic, they should have embraced Arabic as a religious language whilst maintaing their own tongues too.

I know the word Ab (water) is of Persian origin but regardless of the name (Panjab or Panjpani) the Punjabi language (previously known as something else) has been around for a very long time, way before Urdu even came into being.

Sanskrit and Persian are all derived from the same Indo-Aryan family (English is also from the same larger family) but neither is derived from the other.

Assimilation of words from other languages is acceptable over time but it doesn't change the basic structure of the language.

I love Pakistan and I don't try and create a fake Pakistani identity with a language imported from India.

My history is not 60 yrs old, it's hundreds of thousands of yrs old.

I love the various Pakistani cultures, especially Pashtun and Punjabi cultures but even these will be influenced by the wider world and will undergo change.

Except for the various regional language all the cultures in the world will assimilate ideas from wach other to such an extent they'll become the same.

Greeks don't wear frocks anymore, Scottsmen don't wear skirts anymore, young urban Arabs don't wear dresses anymore and soon Pakistani men wont wear Shalwar Kamiz anymore (Insha Allah Ta'ala).

It's time we accepted change.

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

I love Pakistan but hate Shalwar Kamiz on men.

Men should NOT wear dresses.

You know what looks really bad? When village guys wear Shalwar Kamiz which looks like rags!!

You know what’s worse? When city guys wear Shalwar Kamiz and Sherwani in flamboyant colors with gaudy embrodiery all over, that’s just plain gay!!

A jeans and t-shirt Pakistan all the way. :jhanda:

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

You’re also against foreign foods?

White people eat our foods too.

In Britain they love curry (Saalan) more than ANYTHING now and cook it in their houses with Roti and Chawal.

Americans probably don’t like other cultures but in Britain we all influence each other yet maintain our multi-ethnic nature.

Pakis eat burger, pizza etc. too because we like it, not to be something we’re not.

I was craving for pizza the other day and I was glad a Mithai bakery I went to had little minni pizzas, affordable prices too, I bought lots and munched them in the park with some coke.

Now I go to town on my Sohrab bike (best bikes, better than Phoenix china ones, always buy Paki) :jhanda: whenever I get the chaska for those pizzas.

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

did anyone watch nadia khan show with Teejay??? he was sooooooooooo right!!

check it out!!!

i think it should be discussed in fashion section!

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

I was watching a talk show on sama channel. Dr. Shaista was the guest. One of the callers complained that TV anchors need to be careful about their dressing and should not wear behooda dresses with half nude legs and all. Dr. Shaista took offense to that and said "it's my personal choice. people shouldn't care about our dressing so much. culture and religion should be kept separate. hamare log abhi tak inhi cheezon mein phanse huay hain. we should not judge people by their dressing because dressing doesn't tell anything about a person".

I for one don't agree with her. Firstly, as muslims our culture is determined by our religion. There are some customs and traditions that we adapt from other races but only if they do not conflict with our religious believes. Secondly, she can do in her personal life whatever she wishes to but when she comes on national television then she has to respect the sentiments of the general population. Otherwise, she would come across as an offender. Thirdly, dressing is an important part of our personality. In our religion, it has been stressed to dress modestly for both men and women.

Well said teejay!and I love what he’s wearing.very pakistani! Teejay is probably pakistan’s first fashion deisgner. But his desses are very graceful. He used to design for PTV damas like tanhaiyaan and dhoop kinaray.very sober dressing I must say.
