No Shalwar Kameez!

good observation.

in lollywood movies only thing that proves heroine poor is them being a teacher at school (where she is considered the most favorite teachers…i remember watching one of meera’s movie). otherwise she wears short skirts, some weird trousers and awful blouses to school.

but they no where showed that she bought them from landa bazar. :hehe:

god knows where lollywood gets these costume inspiration from

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

Poori duniya aaisay he ghoom rahi hai..abb inka kya kasoor...they don't have the class to understand that even in shalwar kameez they can look educated, "modren" and sophisticated toh abb kya kiya ja sakta hai? english paidal hai toh zahir hai kapro say compete karen gay na..

Someone should introduce them directors to my teacher in grade seven man she used to drive the latest cars :s…

lollywood people take their costume inspirations from Bollywood…they see a costume and take that make their cheap additions and woallah what we saw a size 2 wearing in the bollywood movie a size 8-10 is wearing that in lollywood movie hehe.

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

i think they look better in shalwar kamiz :)

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

i was watching Aanch... a few days ago ..... and was so happy to see that they were wearing shalwar kameez..... even a huge businessman and woman are wearing shalwar kameez....... and looking so decent.

aab..... they are stuck in those two piece suits.... even at home... they are wearing those suits!! phir they say that we are making international level dramas....... agar inka level itna high hogiya hai........ tu aab tak hollywood ke barabar kyun nahian aaye.......

its just annoying keh we are not shown reality......... aab in afew dramas.... like Tair-e-Lahoti, Karwatian.... they are shown wearing shalwar kameez.... Mani is also promoting it.... i have seen him recently wearing shalwar kameez a lot........ boht achi baat hai..........

aur jahan tak khawateen ka taluq hai...... unka tu Allah hi Hafiz hai!!!

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

^ I agree. I love love shalwar kameez especially after watching all these drama like tair e lahoti, yeh zindaagi hai, doraha and others i forgot. I so misss pakistan, last time i went was when i was 5 ! =(

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

yes it's a great dress.

I went through few pages of celebe pic thread…they all look fake.

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

as far as dramas are concerned, wearing shalwar kameez still seems to be the norm on screen, unless of course the character requires otherwise. the dramas i have followed recently had the girls dressed up in regular SK's on screen "doraha", "meray paas paas", "woh rishtay woh natay", "abhi abhi", "chaar chaand", "tair-e-lahoti" etc. ya i know i'm a big drama buff! :D

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

it's not in, because the more skin you show, the more the people want to see. Soon, the muslim state of Pakistan will have women running naked thru the streets and tv channels...

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

what wishful thinking

lol ... i love shalwar kameez

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

You are aping Afghan Buddhists by wearing Shalwar Kamiz and you are aping Persian Zoroastrians by wearing Sherwani, you have an inferiority complex, may Allah give you Hidayat.

I sound retarded right? So do you when you insist a certain ethnicity should only wear a certain type of dress.

Shalwar Kamiz was invented by Afghan Buddhists and Sherwani by Persian Zoroastrians so Pakistanis should invent their own dress, calling these dresses our national dresses is copying someone else.

Wesay if you want Hidayat you shouldn't be in Shor Sharaba or watching Kanjar-Mirasis on TV anyway.

If the Westerners invented pant-shirt, Buddhists invented Shalwar-Kamiz, Zoroastrians invented Sherwani.

Just because Quaid-e-Azam Baba tried creating an artificial identity for us by picking a "national" dress, flower, chaddi etc. doesn't mean we have to stick to these things forever and ever.

Pakistani culture and society will change just like any other nation. Nothing stays the same!!

We've always adopted influences from other cultures and we always will just like any other nationality, there's nothing to be ashamed of in that.

Maybe these people just don't like Shalwar Kameez.

Are they forcing you to wear pant shirt? No! So you have absoloutley no right to dictate what someone else can or cannot wear.

I hate Shalwar Kamiz too and guess what? I live in a Pakistani village (Gaaon/Pindd/Goth), I'm a Painddu like the majority of this country's population but I belive in positive change. We cook foods from Italy, Greece, Arabia, China, Pashtunkhwa, Punjab in our house, nice things from all over the world make our lives more interesting.

Why are some Pakistanis so narrow minded? Why do you want to be different and isolated from the rest of the world?

Pant-shirt is not just Western clothes, it's international.

I wear jeans because I think they look cool not because I have an inferiority complex, I'm content being Paki, I don't want to be White or anything.

I don't try to be White, Gorey to bahot badsoorat hotey hain, ek dam pheekay!! Un pe to kuch bhi acha nahi lagta, pant-shirt to sirf ham tall, dark, handsome Pakistaniyon be sexy lagta hai, other than us Pakistanis there's only Latinos, Arabs and Central Asians who are goodlooking.

I think Shalwar Kamiz looks horrible on men, men should NOT wear dresses.

Women look pretty in modern Shalwar Kamiz though.

Wear any dress that is not nanga-punga, Kanjar-Mirasis (actors) however will wear anything, unn ka koi Deen Dharam nahi hota.

The only thing we should try and preserve is our religion and our local languages (which are suffering because an Indian language called Urdu is being enforced on us).

Oye...mere Badayun ke lalla...!!! Sambha'l ke zaban...bole!

Re: No Shalwar Kameez!

Sorry if you are offended.

Kanjar (Punjabi), Doom (Pashto) or Mirasi (Urdu) is not an insult in itself, it simply means musician/entertainer and is used to refer to the artist class.

The only reason these words have come to be used as a curse/swear is because such a profession is looked down upon by the noble (khandani) tribes of Punjab and Pashtunkhwa.

The dictionary meaning of these words is not derogratory, I'm the son and grandson of a Zamindar (landlord) so I'm a Zamindar, if anyone calls me that I'll be proud of it, it's our profession, similarly you as an actor should be proud of being a modern-day Kanjar/Mirasi/Doom regardless of what others think of you.

Allah Khair Karey. I still love shalwar kameez and also love urdu as a language. brother Be Pakistani. love your own things. It was not Quadi Azam who introduce Shalwar Kameez or Urdu language it was there from long time back.

My dear brother, you don't know anything.

Urdu was not always about in Pakistan.

Urdu the sister dialect of Hindi is the language of Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai etc. which are in presentday India.

In Pakistan we have traditionally spoken the various dialects of Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi and Kashmiri.

When Pakistan was created our leaders (from India) chose this foreign language Urdu as a national language and enforced it upon the local Punjabis, Pashtuns, Balochis, Sindhis and Kashmiris.

Our own mother tongues, the languages of our fathers and forefathers got no representation whatsoever in our country.

Our elders and even the majority of our generation on the streets can not and do not want to speak Urdu.

If you are a Muhajir (immigrant) from India then Urdu might be your language, I respect Muhajirs as fellow Pakistanis so it shouldn't be banned altogether, it should be made the national language of Karachi because that's where Muhajirs are in the majority...

...However if you are Punjabi then Durr Fittay Mu, Punjabi is a beautiful language, all it's dialects are wonderful, it has a great literaray history, I don't know why you Punjabis think rejecting Punjabi for Urdu will make you more modern, this "PTV culture" is destroying your identity, Punjabis should combine all their dialects (Majhi, Seraiki, Hindko etc.) and come up with a standard dialect understood by all and promote it.

Pakistan should become a federation of various Muslims states rather than try and force a single ethnic identity by picking elements from other cultures.

By your standrds Pakistanis are the biggest wannabes and have the biggest inferiority complex, our Qaumi Taraana (national anthem) is in Persian the language of Iran, our national language Urdu has roots in India, our national dress was invented by Buddhists in Afghanistan, Quaid-e-Azam's Sherwani was first worn in Ancient Persia by Zoroastrians... I can go on, our own cultures are beautiful but they're are being rejected.

People who claim Urdu is the language of all South-Asian Muslims are retards, Urdu has no sacred status in Islam, only Arabic is a universal language because it's the language of God's Book, other than that we all have our own seperate ethnic languages.

I would rather ape Westerners over Indians anyday, but wearing jeans is not aping Westerners, it's international, Palestinians wear it, Latinos wear it, Chinese wear it and so do we Pakis.
