No Pakistani would opt to live in India: Islamabad

Tuesday, 04 January , 2005, 20:30

Islamabad: Pakistan has denied Indian media reports saying that Pakistanis were seeking Indian citizenship while staying in Gujarat.

http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=13642720

Pooh-poohing the report, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan told reporters in Islamabad that no Pakistani would opt to live in India since “Pakistan is a land of opportunities.”

Calling the report as frivolous, concocted and ridiculous, Khan said that the Pakistan government would probe into the matter with all angles, “as it could be part of dis-information campaign.”

According to The News, an Indian wire agency had issued a report that as many as 900 Pakistani citizens staying for several years in four cities of Gujarat - Ahmadabad, Patna, Banskarnatha and Kutch - were seeking Indian citizenship.

Quoting the media report, the paper said that the Indian government had delegated the authority to the state government for granting citizenship.

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

This is nothing but baseless, shameless propoganda by the Indian side. Why is it that Indians talk about "Great India" sitting comfortably away in the US, UK?

Pakistanis LOVE their Pakistan, meaning that we love our land from the dirtiest alleyway to the poshest venue. Theres a saliant difference between the two perspectives.

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

Don't get too touchy about this even assuming this is true. If it is possible for an Indian muslim to marry a Pakistani and seek Pakistani citizenship, the reverse is true as well. One does not seek a country's citizenship because one loves that country more than one's homeland. There could be more humble reasons - love for one's spouse, better future prospect, etc.

Very few of the members here in the US and Europe would have chosen to accept citizenship because they loved Pakistan less.

I think officials should not use such language. Wonder what Massod Khan would do if his probe confirmed this. 900 is a very small number compared to the numbers who have overstayed their visas in India

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

come on get a life mates, now why would any let alone Pakistanis like to go for indian citizenship? what are benefits for that? ofcourse apart from other reason like marriage/love thing for that anything can be possible.

for a normal person what will be benefits to him/her to live in India?
will they get visa free enteries to other countries?
will they be part of first world?
will they get highly paid jobs compared to Pakistan by having this?

the answer is NO!

Many Pakistanis may like to visit India for tourism or even business. no one would like to live there forever unless there is a complusive reason i.e., marriage, relatives.

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

so what country pakistanis feel more comfortable saudi iran afganistan ?

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

Seeing that Pakistanis move to contries like El Salvador and Ecuador, I don't see why some Pakistanis would not want to move to India.

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

lol! lol! lol!

Maybe the Indian ministry should try to figure out how many Indian Muslim women have been marrying Pakistani men over the last 20 years! The number is certainly more than 900! The trend is rising. Even Muslim women of Indian origin living in Western countries do not hesitate in the least to get married to Pakistani men and then pretend to be Pakistanis!.

In fact after J&K, Ayodhya, and Gujarat, the trend has augmented!. I am not talking about the 0.5% Indian elite society that Indians project in their media: the models, film stars, etc. - I am talking about everyday ordinary people.

And this is sheer propaganda: of all the countries in the world, Pakistanis would opt for India! The very country where hundreds if not thousands leave VOLUNTARILY and then go the West, Gulf, Africa (anything but India is good for them!) and then while staying abroad talk big about India. Ask them: "If India is so great, then why did you leave it willingly??". You'll love the blank look on their faces!!

Get real: this is just an expression of India's fantasy to command respect in the region and play a bigger regional role! India is NOT what it's government thinks or would like the world to think. I mean you never hear Pakistanis or Bangladeshis, Chinese, etc. living abroad tell the whole world that they are God's greatest gift to mankind like Indians do!

But such fantasies are understandable: I mean let's compare apples with apples: when India even dare comapre itself to say China it realizes what its reality is and so naturally the only thing to do is to spread propaganda directed at neighours less than half your size and less than 15% of India's population.

Indians suffer from a pathetic superiority-complex and think that Pakistan, Bangladesh, and pretty much the rest of the world is in awe of India!

And for the record, I think the Pakistani officials are right. No Pakistani would OPT to live in India - opt implies given a choice. Remember we did not name our country West India, North India, Muslim Republic of India, etc. : we went to great lenghts to get rid of India in our lives! I am surprised Indians would think that given that every Indian would also OPT to not live in India. Why do you think there is such a huge Indian diaspora (I mean go to Timbuktoo and you will find a community of Indians who voluntarily left India!!)?? and it's growing. Every middle-class Indian either dreams of becoming a big hindi movie star (and film in overseas locations as well!!) or emigrating to ANYWHERE in the world!

But these delusions do provide amazing laughter! That's what the world needs: more clowns!!!

In fact here's a joke an Egyptian told me in Cairo:

"How did the Indian baby cry when it was born?"

"Visa, visa, visa, visa, visa!"

And they think that Pakistanis would opt to live in India!!!

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

Quoting TeenDabbyWala:

Your are hilarious: check out what % of Indians live in El Salvador, Ecuador and % of Pakistanis live there! In fact more Indians VOLUNTARILY leave India so your comments are absolutely ridiculous.
May you should ask yourself why so many Indians leave India despite being such "great, secular country"!!

Atleast Pakistanis don't indulge in false boasts about how great Pakistan is and at the same time dying to live abroad like Indians!

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

shamalee, you sure have indians all figured out, dont you? :)

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

hey queer,

its not just me who has Indian figured out - its the WHOLE WORLD..............well except for Indians themselves! :)

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

well small wonder why most people have trouble telling apart pakistanis and indians then. :)

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

^ Really? thats news to me. When did Indians discover the wonders of personal hygiene?

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

haha! this coming from a pakistani.. just rich..

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

^ Actually, I am talking about real world hygeine not the the belief that "Muslas" and thier shadows are "barisht"

Waisay tum logon ki hamesha phatt kiyoon jaati hai? Look at where the thread is going and Boinggg! in comes Dr. Queer with his expert opinion about how hard is it to tell Indians and Pakistanis apart. No Pakistani would say that (many reasons: mine is cleanliness) so are you trying to pay yourself a compliment? Besides people would have a hard time telling Koreans apart from Chinese, or Indonesians from the Malaysians or Nigerians from the Kenyans what does it prove?

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

Ok guys, Pakistan is better than India. Pakistanis are more hygienic than Indians. Whatever

All these do not imply that some Pakistanis cannot or will not opt for Indian citizenship because of marriages or because they are hindus or sikhs. Hence it is not improbable that 900 or so (if you take a family size of 5 then it is only about 180 households) have requested for indian citizenship. The estimated number of Pakistanis overstaying their visas runs into tens of thousands. They are not overstaying because of love for India. 900 is nothing compared to this.

This was a plain news item which resulted in an undiplomatic response (even if it were true) by a designated official. Now, move on.

Re: No Pakistani would opt to live in India

too funny.. mufakkar, i know from personal experience how “hygenic” pakistanis and indians are. who are we trying to fool? :hehe:
