Despite all the rhetoric regarding power generation in the country, the fact is that not a single megawatt has been added to the system whereas the demand has increased by around 700 MW. Around 500 billion rupees of circular debt was cleared last year which has again risen to…yep 500 billion. The price of electricity during the past year has gone up Astronomically but still the people don’t have the commodity. The electricity bills people receiving this month are around three times the previous month after utilising similar units. There are news circulating that the electricity surcharge will go up. Ramadan going on, brutal heat wave and load shedding to the tune of 8-10 hours. Welcome to roshan Pakistan. Not everything is gloom and doom though, we have got another road in yadgar Lahore.

i heard on "yeh Khabar hai" last night where Mr. Sa'eed Qaazii said that Pakistan has no infra structure to carry more than 1500 [or 15000] megawatt of electricity. even if you produce more electricity, you have no means to deliver to homes.

Yes the transmission and distribution systems are crap too, anyhow this article is talking about generation as that's what the government is trumpeting for the past one year.

This will continue to happen until the govt decides to recover bills at higher rate. Taxing/increasing surcharge on existing customers will only put pressure on them to steal it, so even the ones who are paying bills will start supporting non-payment of bills.

being a professional you know that Power Projects 6 months m ni lg jate … 10,000 MW projects are in pipeline , min. 2 to 3 years are required to bring them into national grid ! Gadani Coal , Karachi , Sahiwal Coal , Neelum Jhelum , Nandi Pur fully functioning , Solar and other projects etc
Aur circular debt ko khtam krne ki wjha se load shedding is less as compared to previous years … accept it or not

Don't just blindly throw statements, do show with numbers (backed by sources) to prove the point.

That and stop giving 99 years to likes of Hina Rabbani Khar to pay her electricity bill [accumulated over years of non-payment] and start collecting large owed sums by the government agencies and by the powerful, influential and well-connected people.

if you live in rich neighbourhoods, there is NO load-shedding...is that you want us to believe that there aren't any load-shedding in Pakistan?

For Gods sake, load shedding is not less than previous years. Leave aside load shedding even the voltage is low, life crippled literally. How can load shedding be low when circular debt is similar to previous year?
