I voted NO. I dont think it should be banned. Its upto the individual who wears it. I have seen other women from India who cover themselves from other non-related males. Would they be banned as well.
and those of you, in support of the ban, get your records straight. Some of you have made very strong statements against ALLAH's will.
Let it the person who decides who wants to wear it, not by law.

niqab :i think: according to my understanding is necessary for muslim women. BUT the niqab that is worn which is TIED atound fore head is NOT the correct niqab. it just a suffocating thing. proper niqab is when u need it pull down ur hijab /chadar/dupatta. and when u dont need pull it back. .for this niqab my vote is yes.

To say the niqaab should be banned to PROTECT a woman's RIGHT is a joke. Say you want to ban it because you hate it, because it scares you, because you dont like people different from you, because you are ignorant, because you think its dangerous, because you are racist, because you are an Islamaphobe -WHATEVER
But to say you want to ban it to protect a woman's right --pure joke. If you want to protect a woman's right, then RESPECT her right. Give her the right. Protect her right to choose and respect her ability to make a choice. By banning the niqaab, you are taking away her right. If you think its WRONG to force someone to wear the niqaab against their will [which it is], then how can you not find it equally wrong to force someone to take off their niqaab against their will. What happened to her rights all of a sudden? I dont wear niqaab, but I respect those who do and would defend their right to dress in the manner they deem fit. They are not breaking any laws and have no problem showing their face to identify themselves when the need arises, such as during exams, if pulled over by the police, when voting, at their airport etc. They are educated women who are contributing members of their society. To tell them, no sorry lady, you need to take that off your face, trust me, its for your own good, because I know BETTER than you what is BEST for you ---again like I said, pure joke

I take Naqab as a cultural thing for which i have respect (as a culture only), but given security situation this practice has to be gone. Ladies like it or not !
