lol omg, wedding planning really isn’t as complicated as you make it sound.

You shouldn’t do your couples’ shoot after maghrib when it’s dark. Pics come out better in natural daylight. Your photographer is right about that.

If I were you, I would do the couples (outdoor?) shoot on baraat day simply because baraat outfit/look is more bling-bling so these pics would turn out better than mehndi pics. Also, for most people, rukhsati happens on baraat day so this day (the day that you officially move in with your husband) is more significant than mehndi day.

It’s your wedding. Do it the way you want. Your primary concern really shouldn’t be what people will think or say. Trust me, people will always find things to talk about. You can’t please everyone. You get married once (hopefully). Do what would make you happy (within reason, of course).

I’ve been to at least one wedding in North America, where nikah happened on the Mehndi day with both bride & groom on the stage. The groom entered first with his family and friends. There was music/flowers/etc. Then the bride’s sisters brought her under a dupatta to the stage. Again there was music and halla gulla. They sat separately (not on the same sofa) on the stage. Molvi sahib came. There was a short speech followed by the nikah and mubrak-baad round. There was no couples’ shoot on mehndi day. They did that on baraat and walima. So after nikah, they just started the mehndi rasms. Bride didn’t wear a traditional veil.

One other baraat that I went to … I couldn’t make it to her mehndi day which is when they had their nikah done. So I’m not sure how they did it. From what I heard from other people, it was very similar to #4](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=4) above.

Recently went to one where they had their nikah in the masjid on the day of the mehndi. The only people who attended the nikah ceremony were close family/friends. From what I heard, her outfit was very simple…and any pics were taken by a friend who is not a professional photographer but still takes good photos.

I think we’re gonna do it where he comes in with music and sits down, the nikkah happens while I’m in the other room. I come out after nikkah is over (probably after maghrib at this point) and then we start the rasams. we can take some couple pics inside the venue but this won’t be the main shoot. then on the wedding day, I’m going to get ready 2.5 hours before the start time, go to some nice outdoor place with the photographer and do an outdoor photoshoot/first look. And then at the shaadi do the seperate entrances, ring exchange, a small dua/religious speech, maghrib, dinner, and then a couple speeches/rasams.
