think about what type of outfit you want to wear for each event....like if you want to wear a shalwar kameez on the mehndi, lehnga on the baraat and gharara on the valima, then why not wear a churidaar pajama or ijaar for the nikkah? that way you can accomplish a different look for each day. I love the first pic Riah posted, that would look elegant and also not too much for a smaller affair.
heyy fasaadi
i knw that pishwaas r over done, but i really dont see them going out of style too much, i guess it depends...but why dont u wear a very traditional style aang raakha, that looks a bit different.... or if u wanna look very different a khaara duputta hydrabadi sstyle!
personally i want somthing really simple but with a hint of bling, to stand out from the crowd as a bride. Its so hard to find the right combo.
some of my faves are…
I love the high neck embroidary
simple shalwar kameez with some bling can look amazing…i mite not opt for red on the nikah since ill save it for the actual barat day
love the detail with these…and its a trouser style pajama
this is really cute cos its all in one dress, with a trouser underneath, but im sorta on the small side so i mite look even smaller…its still an option though and its different
Again these 2 are really pretty, but im scared abt having such a long kameez, but i guess until i try it on i wont know if its proportionate to my size
I think soft colours like white/cream will look gorgeous as alot of girls I've seen wear white on the nikah and I think like someone else said a classic shalwar kameez will look gorgeous with intricate design
if i can, i advise you to go with a embroided shalwar kameez...b'cuz as u said it's going to be a family function. and it will be easy for you to take the dupatta on head during the nikah and than take it off...if you will choise something else it became difficult with dupatta!! i know it doesn't seems a big problem but when the maulana saab come everybody start to run to find a dupatta..and than it's different from the dress...and it looks horrible in the photos!! it happened to a friend :)...hihihihihi...
btw with the salwar kameez you will have the chance to wear it again and again..at a paty, at an other wedding, at a dinner etc etc...it is always in fashion!!
Aww you guys are so helpful. Thanks a bunch guys! big jhuppies
I'm loving the dark champagne colour! Sleeveless is a no-no, because I come from a very conservative family - how else could you have the arms? Long?
Not liking sharara's guys. I'm thinking elegance and simplicity, in light flowly colours with minimal but intricate work! I wanna leave all the OTT dressing up for the later functions. Nonetheless, loving the pics Sohni has posted, so some more pics along that line would be fantasticooooo!
Does anyone know any good places where they would do nice shalwar kameez (ready-made) in Karachi? Doesn't necessarily have to be designer btw!
When my friend had her nikah, she wore simple white shalwar kameez but the guys side had brought her a lovely outfit to wear after so she got changed and had her pics etc taken. would u consider two outfits?
awwwww i guess we have the same taste…and yep my mum wud never let me wear sleeve less, so im thinkin any outfit i see with no sleeves i will get either a 3/4 sleeve (upto/near the elbow) or full sleeve but jst stopping so u can see the bangles/bracelets
karachi has this amazing AMAZING place called body focus museum, my sister got some of their clothes like 3 yrs ago and they look great even now, the websites ebodyfocus.com ..
then theres zamanzar its in clifton near doh-talwaar i think, its owned by shayan malik they have some beautiful stuff, anyway ur mamis in karachi she prolly knows all these places already
if ur in the US somewhere around the DC area u shud definitely check out rani emaan (their websites raniemaans.com) they have a store in georgetown (ive only been to the one in pakistan but im sure the georgetown one isnt too bad either although obvs the one in pakistan has more stuff) ive seen their clothes in real life and they are bee-yoo-ti-ful!
What did you all wear on your nikah ceremony? Was it simple/formal, white/not-white? I guess I'm asking particularly about those brides that had there nikah a day or maybe hours before their wedding and wore something different than there main bridal outfit?
I had my nikkah on the wedding day so I wore my wedding dress. My sister had it on her Mayoon so she wore her yellow mayoon jora. A friend of mine had it 8 mths before her wedding so she wore an off white lehnga with red/maroon kaam.
I think Peshwas/Anarkali would look fab at the nikkah or even a khara Hyderabadi dupatta if you want to take the middle road.
Why dont you wear a GOLD shalwaar kameez. I saw it on this wedding video.. She wore a VERRRRRYYYYYYY heavy detail'd kameez and it was ALL gold. She looked STUNNING!
then on her wedding day she wore her red wedding dress which was also very stunning!
i agree with ali m,try to keep it beautiful but simple not oberly done so that the weddingday you look exceptionally beautiful.
a few of the others have said shalara and that you could then wear the same in a diff colour onthe wedding day but then you will look the same on your nikah.... soem of the oufits posted by riah khan are too much for a nikah (in my personal opinion) they are beautiful dresses dont get me wrong but too done up. i personally woudl wear something liek picture numbr 2 that riah posted, i think that is simple elegant and beautiful! hope this helps!
