As I understand, mutah is Shia and not exactly misyar.
Mutah is where there is a pre-determined time frame for the marriage...not sure of the intricacies of it but not quite the same as Misray which is part of the Sunni faith.
I don't know what misyar means, never heard of that before. However I do know someone who had a marriage of convenience and he did it for a British passport. He married a girl a he was friends with but there are no benefits and the relationship is strictly platonic.
basically its two people 'agreeing' to marry..forgoing some of their 'rights' in the nikaah contract..
so they don't live together, don't bear responsibility of family......but can have 'fun' whenever they like.....as far as i heard......if kids come into situation...then there are complications....and it was something in egypt like this...where the misyaar was not recognised by state...and the women were dumped by the dudes or something.......
Basically a marriage of convenience where people have the option of living separately and meeting only to fulfill their needs.
To simplify the meaning, its like a friends-with-benefits type situation...but halal. Correct?
Do you know anyone in such a marriage? Would anyone be open to such a marriage?
in early days, rich people use to have their mistresses, whom they use to provide with house, monthly expenses and other facilities... when so called Saudi-Islam took over Arabia, this practice has to go...so Saudies with the help of so-called scholars, created the concept of Misyar...
Now rich people of Arabia, goes to different countries like, Indonesia, India, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan etc and do this arrangement, which to me is nothing but legalized prostitution...
when i was getting some things clarified from indian muslims about muttah/misyar they said that both are not allowed in islam there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it
Mutta is a contract with an expiry date.......all other conditions of marriage being same
Misyar is a contract in which one or both parties forego some of their rights.......no expiry date
