NHL - Toronto Maple Leafs

what a sensation last nite…end of the 3rd period, St. Louis was on a powerplay for 4 minutes as Tom Fitzgerald was in the penalty box serving a high-sticking double minor…eventhough toronto was 1 person short from the lineup (3 on 4), toronto managed to score with 20 secs to spare in the 3rd period to tie the score at 2 - 2…

2 bad thought, that they couldn’t make it 9 wins in a row though…into sudden death overtime, St. Louis made a strong play and scored before the end of the powerplay which had been carried over from the last period…

I must say i am pleasantly surprised by their performance so far this season…even after the loss last nite, they are sitting on top of the Northeast division…i think this yrs team has a good mix of experienced and new players which keeps things alive…the new players want to prove somethin, and the oldies wanna show 'em how its done properly…

Ed Belfour has been doing well goal tending…Joe Nieuwendyk got his 7th goal of the season last nite…everyone else is doing their job just fine so far…

not related to the Maple Leafs performance, kinda ironic that cujo (Curtis Joseph) got sent to the minors by the red wings, with 2 yrs to go and $16 million contract still remaining…haven’t been followin detroit 2 closely, but i guess the red wings must’ve had a good reason for doing that…

newayz…eventhough its still early on in the season, i hope that this yr the maple leafs not only make it to the play-offs like they do every yr, but also bring back home the stanley cup…hopefully this yr, half the team won’t be injury ridden like it is by the time the playoffs come around…

philadelphia, new jersey, detroit, st. louis, vancouver and coloarado are other teams to watch out for…should be an interesting season

yeah I have always been a fan of Pat Quinn eversince his days in Vancouver; at the end it's all about leadership and coaching. They have had a great run..what they won like 8-9 straight..before this loss..? don't know what the hell happened to cujo..but he shouldn't have left toronto for detroit, and he din' perform well there either. Detroit and Vancouver are both hot...but am not too sure about detroit, since they are just too old of a team. Unless, Hasek really steps up..and he has done just that this year..then they may have a chance..but I am with the Jersey Devils all the way..they are still the champs..

All right hockey lovers,,,, let me give you an order of finish for this years regular season. Just read this in april and tell me I am right...

West
Vancouver - Best 1-2 punch in hockey (Bert+Naslund),,, what a first line
Detroit - Solid team - goalie circus drags them down
Los Angelas - Sneaks up in a weak division with Dallas failing this year
Colorado - Great forwards, but in that won't do a lot in playoffs
St Louis - Decent team that loses in the playoffs every year
San Jose - Back after a horrible year
Anaheim - No they were'nt the real deal last year in the Cup finals, got lucky
Edmonton - Will trade Comrie and improve as Salo regains his form

East
Philly - Great team, outside of net they are rock solid
Ottawa - too talented to be stay down the standings
Tampa Bay - Great young forwards and a good goalie
New Jersey - Perennial contendors
Boston - Good team without a goalie
Toronto - Forget the 8 in a row, don't have a good enough D for the long run
Atlanta - Good young team, with Heatley they would overtake Tampa
Montreal - Should be able to sneak in and beat out the sad sack Rangers

rangers..what a sad bunch they are..i think Glen sather is going to get canned soon. Too many players with big egos. They just haven't been able to gel together as a team..

rangers suck :D

go leafs go!

oh and to add more updated, devils killed the flyers...red wings are killin the capitals...nice game b/w the bruins and the senators, was close...the thrashers were no match for the islanders...

i'm waitin for ottawa to take off...they definitly have the potential...

Let’s Go L.A. Kings. :k:

No matter what their state, I'll always be loyal to the Canadiens. It's been over 20 years, and I'm not about to stop now.

how bout pavel datsyuk?? the guy is ripping it up like theres no tomorrow.... did u see his goal against dallas a few weeks ago on a breakaway.... sick... absolutely sick this guy is going to be a star

the leafs still sitting at the top of northeast division n also 2nd in east. they also have the 2nd best record in the league. i hope they can continue this amazing run of form [10 wins in last 11 games i think]. GO LEAFS GO...

wow…the flames came out of nowhere today to beat the flyers! :k:

and another victory added for toronto as well

yea fret, canadiens still do have the potential...i hope they come back up soon 2 :)

Biggest surprises of this year have to be Pavel Datsyuk and robert Lang. Those two came out of no where dominate the scoring leaders.

For everybody trying to hype up the Leafs, don't hold your breath, they will lose to Philly or the Sens in the 2nd round of the playoffs just like they do every year.............

they've beaten the sens everytime they play them in the playoffs last 3-4 yrs.. so i donno wat ur talking abt!

what a shameful loss to ottawa the other nite...kidd's goal tending was just terrible...atleast he got his act together after the 1st period...but the damage was done...

ottawa has caught momentum and is right behind toronto now in the northeast division...and the sens captain even proclaimed that they'll bring the stanley home this time around...lets see if they can...they definitly have the potential :) one loss and one tie after the game againsts the leafs for the sens...still right behind toronto :)

torontos performance against the devils wasn't 2 bad...wasn't expecting a win with nolan and belfour out of the picture...a 1-0 loss is still not that bad...

i hope the leafs get their act back together quickly :)

no problem guyz it happens, they'll bounce back from the two losses

4 - 1 victory over the flames last nite with Nolan and Mogilny still out…

2 goals by McCabe…it was the 1000th game for Fitzgerald, who also scored an unassisted goal as well…i guess the 1000th game got the leafs pumped up again…

awesome performance by Belfour as well…made a nice save in the 3rd period and got the crowd chanting for him…

this is more like how the leafs should play if they want to bring home the stanley  :hula: :bhangra:

I agree.

The Canucks have been doing great! I love em.

leafs = :disgust:

another loss to philly...torontos lead is slippin away fast...only won 1 of the last 4...for some reason the 1st period performance for toronto is simply pathetic now...i dunno why...

newayz...canucks are doin well indeed in the western conference :)
