CBC is a hypocrite. They claim to be Canadian, yet they are proud Toronto supporters. Every Saturday Night has Toronto, and Don Cherry is a uneducated fool. Who does he actually think he is? If you notice, only the labour workers enjoy his talk, while the educated will rather listen to just Ron MacLean talk.
[/QUOTE]
Couldn't agree with you more. Cherry is a racist idiot whose knowledge of hockey stopped in 60s. If they want to show his show only in GTA that's ok with me but don't subject me to his pro-Toronto tirades and running down every other Canadian team.
**My eyes went wide,'' Roenick said. It was unbelievable that I got the opportunity, so I knew exactly what I was going to do right from the start.‘’ **
It was Roenick’s 51st playoff career goal.
woohoo FLYERS won! Picture perfect goal by Jermey Roenick, and the Toronto crowd was stunned and numbed. Did Roenick see that coming? He scored only 2 goals for FLYERS in this series, one game-winning in OT. What a timing!
Alot of credit goes to Sami Kapanen, who made that play of Roenick possible. Had he not went straight to the bench, I wonder what would have happened. To my surprised, Darcy Tucker wasn’t penalized with cheap shot. Thank god Sami is fine.
1st Intermission belonged to FLYERS, who just came out, set the tone, scored twice. At that time, no one who’d imagined the game will go to OT. 2nd Intermission was so-so. In the 3rd Intermission, the last 10 mins or so, LEAFS had intensity when they got back into game only to lose in OT.
Anyway, who’d have thought Stanely Cup Final will be without Red Wings, Devils, Avalanche hmm?
NOOOOOOOOOO!
Now that the leafs are out i’m cheering for Calgary -Go flames go!
As for all you Don Cherry haters…I love him! He brings a little bit of excitment to Coach’s corner -w/o him I’m sure many people will change the channel. But then again I am a huge Leafs fan maybe that’s why I like him so much (I’ve actually watched a few games at his bar).
Anyhow -I’m rooting for anyone but Philly!
well deserved win to the flyers nonetheless…toronto struggled from the beginnin and only scored the 2 goals to tie the game in the 3rd period…phili was dominating everything otherwise…congrats phili fans :k:
and another surprise, calgary beats another one of the favs, the red wings…and of course, the sharks beat the avs as well…
so many favs knocked out already this yr…first the bruins beat by the canadiens…canucks by the flames…red wings by the flames…avs by the sharks…the playoffs are definitly interesting this time around…
after seeing all the performances, i’d place my money on tampa (in tampa against the flyers) and calgary (in calgary against san jose) to go to the finals…and the finals are goin to be pretty evenly matched up…
last hope for the stanley comin to canada lies with the flames…so GO FLAMES GO!!!

DM, if you are counting on regular series, please wake up. :D Tampa have swept Philly in the regular games, but this is playoffs honey; and FLYERS have had much two tough round series than Tampa.
Oh yeah, GO SHARKS. Let's have another All-American Stanely Cup Finals....AGAIN :D

game one of the eastern conference finals, tampa beat phili 3 - 1...they capitalized on some sloppy play by phili at the beginnin of the second period to draw first blood and make the score 1 - 0...phili tied the game 5 mins later or so...by the end of the 2nd period, tampa managed to score another goal when phili couldn't clear the puck out of their zone, eventhough they had 3 chances to do that...the final blow came in the 7th min of play in the 3rd period when tampa scored again, that goal providing enough security for them to cruise to a smooth victory...good game, but i'm not surprised...like i said, tampa seems to be in a league of its own this yr, and hands down, i think they'll win this series without putting in 2 much effort...
tonites game is going to be exciting, as both the underdog teams in the western conference have made it to the finals...the calgary flames beating out overwhelming odds by first defeating the vancouver canucks, and after that, the detroit red-wings...and equally impressive san jose sharks, who weren't really noticed b4 this yr, made an impact by not only making it to the playoffs, but also reaching the finals for the first time ever in the franchise history, esp the last series when they beat the avs to make it this far...this match up could swing either way, cuz no one was expecting either team to make it this far...i'd bet on calgary though, cuz anyone who can defeat the red-wings, can defeat everyone else as well...lets see what happens :)

whoah whoah...hold it man. One game loss doesn't mean series is over; and the playoffs doesn't start until a team wins a game on road. I do admit that Philly let the chances slipped, especially in the first half.
Sit tight. FLYERS will regroup, comeback in the second game.

i'm not basing it on one game...i said that based on the overall performance thus far of both the teams...tampa has been extraordinary...
baqi yea, these are the conference finals, so of course philli won't give up without a fight...but i think tampas gonna take the series based on whatever i said above :)
Flames win in OT 4 - 3 to make the series 1 - 0...sharks are lookin good, they just didn't get the start they wanted...they usually dominate in the 1st period, but they were shut-down very effectively in the 1st period, and afterwards, it was a pretty even match...
wow...the flyers sure win some games by big margins...leading right now 5 - 0 and the 3rd period still to come...makin a strong statement that it won't be ez for tampa to win this one...
final score: phili 6, tampa 2 which leaves the series tied at 1 - 1...not a great game by tampa...hats off to phili to take advantage of the situation and utilize it fully...
tampa was on a roll winning 8 straight playoff games, it last loss coming a month ago in Game 2 of the first-round series against the New York Islanders...the Lightning had also defeated Phili five straight times this season, including a four-game sweep of the regular-season series...
what didn't work for tampa today was its defence...and the unbeatable Khabibulin was beaten the first time...entering the contest, Khabibulin was enjoying a magical postseason run as the best goalie in this year's tournament...not only was he 9-1, but he also had managed a miniscule 1.00 goals-against average and an astounding .963 save percentage...he had stopped 258 of the 268 shots he had faced in the first 10 games, compiling a playoff-best four shutouts along the way...
lets see if he can rebound in the next match and be "Bulin Wall" for tampa once again...of course tampa needs to work on their defense overall as well...

DM, that’s what I’ve been telling you, Man; and that’s what you don’t know about FLYERS. When they lose a game, they come back strong to win the next one. Remember 7-2 story against LEAFS?
woohoo for FLYERS!
The sense of urgency was evident from the start. FLYERS set the tone, never lost the poise. The first goal came in 2 mins; and second followed by 8 mins on PowerPlay. Tampa Bay was really frastrauted; resulted in cheap shots. There was no LIGHTENING baby! Robert Eshce is the Man!
The series heads back to Philly where FLYERS are unbeaten in the playoffs!
flames just took a 3 - 1 lead 12:35 into the 3rd period against the sharks....and another goal to take a 4 - 1 lead a few moments later...wow...the flames really are on top of their game...looks pretty much impossible for the sharks to recover now with 6:30 remaining to the end of the 3rd period...lets see if sharks can get their momentum back in the next game...
flames burn out the sharks 4 - 1 final score in the 2nd game of the western conference finals taking a 2 - 0 lead in the series…the sharks really have to work on their defense the way they are playin…otherwise calgary will continue to take advantage and keep on scoring on chances which shouldn’t have been given in the first place with 2 on 1 rushes etc… :k: for the flames…and best of luck to the sharks for the next game…
