based on the results, the first round of the playoffs is going to be a battle between the following teams:
***Canadiens VS Bruins
Predators VS Red Wings
Stars VS Avalanche
Flames VS Canucks
Senators VS Maple Leafs
Islanders VS Lightning
Devils VS Flyers
Blues VS Sharks ***
my predictions for the 1st round:
Bruins should win against the canadiens
red wings over the predators
Avalanche over the stars
Canucks over the flames
Leafs over the Senators
Lightning over the Islanders
Flyers over the Devils
Sharks over the blues
Specially interesting will be the battle of ontario, the sens VS the leafs…flames VS canucks can prove to be a close one as well, but in the end i think the canucks will prevail…
so far, no surprises…
Boston beat Montreal 3 - 0 in the 1st match
Red Wings got a 3 - 1 victory over the predators
Canucks won 5 - 3 against the flames
Avalanche beat the stars 3 - 1
After losing the first game of the series, Leafs have come back into the series with a 2-0 win in game #2. Now next 2 games will be played in Ottawa where Leafs were 3-0 in the regular season. Go Leafs.
a few teams have a 2 - 0 lead in the series as expected:
sharks 2 - 0 over the blues
flyers 2 - 0 over the devils
red wings 2 - 0 over the predators
avalanche 2 - 0 over the stars
boston 2 - 0 over the canadiens
i am just disappointed with the canadiens performance against the bruins...they are playing as if its a minor league, not the stanley cup playoffs...last game, they had 4 power plays just in the 1st period against boston, and they only managed 2 shots (combined) on the goal during the powerplays...they have a chance to play catch-up and make the series 2 - 1 today...
surprise was the islander shut-out victory over tampa bay (3 - 0, the exact same score that tampa had against the islanders in the 1st game) which leaves the series tied at 1 - 1
Flames are also showing some fight with a 2- 1 win in the 2nd game of the series against the canucks, also tying the series 1 - 1
and of course, as expected, the interesting matchup between toronto and ottawa is tied at 1 - 1 (ottawa beat toronto in the 1st game 4 - 2 and toronto had a 2 - 0 shut-out victory in the 2nd game)
Montreal started to show some heat in game 2, especially in the 3rd period. It was sad to see such a weeny goal go past theodore so short into overtime. We'll take the next game :)
Good win for the canadiens in the 3rd game, to make the series 2 - 1…final score, canadiens 3, bruins 2 :k:
also, the predators won their first ever NHL playoffs game against detroit today to make that series 2 - 1 as well…final score for that game was predators 3, red wings 1…
lets see what happens b/w the canucks and the flames now…
what a goal by Nieuwendyk at the beginnin of the 2nd period! that goal by sundin close to the end of the 3rd period wasn’t all that convincing, but nonetheless, it put the leafs up 2 - 0 for yet another shut-out victory…the 13th for belfour as a leaf…leafs lead the series 2 - 1 now :bhangra:
lightning also beat the islanders 3 - 0, makin that series 2 - 1 in their favour as well…
the devils showed some fight today winnin the game 4 - 2 against the flyers, which makes that series 2 - 1 as well (2 for the flyers, 1 for the devils) :k:
avalanche and stars are playin right now, avalanche leadin 3 - 1 for todays score and the series 2 - 0…i expect this one to turn out to be a 3 - 0 series by the end of the day today…lets see what happens
what a win for the stars, came back from behind to tie the score 3 - 3 at the end of the 3rd period to take it into OT, and another goal to win the game and make the series 2 - 1! :k:
the blues also came back strong aginst the sharks to get a 4 - 1 win…that series is now 2 - 1 as well…
wow, this yrs playoffs aren’t as bad as i thought they would be
canadiens fought hard, really hard...but boston prevailed scoring the matchin winning goal in the 2nd OT period (final score 4 - 3) evnethough the penalty should have been called...nonetheless, that leaves the series 3 - 1 in the bruins favour...
predators get their 2nd back to back win, a 3 - 0 shut-out victory against the red wings which leaves that series tied 2 - 2...
sharks beat the blues 4 - 3 (they were leading 3 - 1 at one time, the blues came back strong but not strong enough)...that series is now 3 - 1...
underway right now is the canucks and flames game...the canucks are missing their regular goalie, Dan Cloutier...the backup goalies are equally competent though, so its still gonna be tuff for the flames...
Since MIGHTY DUCKS couldn't make it to the postseason, and the KINGS suck so bad that I can't even begin to write, I like Philadelphia FLYERS! They are kicking the butt of DEVILS, 3-1 in the postseason. Last night was great when FLYERS shutout DEVILS. The series is back to Philly, and hopefully it will be the end of DEVILS!
GO FLYERS. Oh year, I like SHARKS too but from West I think AVALANCE have better chance than them :-D
u got that right PT :) devils don't have a strong team this time around...
avalanche is definitly stronger than the stars as well...they won the game 3- 2 last nite in the 2nd OT which leaves that series 3 - 1 as well...
leafs lost to the sens yesterday 4 - 1, which leaves the series tied at 2 - 2...Nieuwendyk was not playin and he's the guy who has scored 2 goals for toronto in the previous 2 games to give toronto a victory over the sens...
lighting is also in a commanding position with the 3 - 0 shut-out victory against the islanders, giving them a 3 - 1 lead in the series...
the sharks and bruins have a chance today to push through to the next round of the play-offs...sharks lead the blues 3 - 1 and the same with the bruins against the canadiens (3 - 1)
also playin today are the flames are canucks as well as the predators and red-wings...both series are tied 2 - 2...
I think Vancouver really lost its soul with the ejection of Bertuzzi, and then cloutier goin down, that is sad as it can get. They are just out of emotions, and i am pretty sure Calgary will put them away in the next game..
It will either colorado or Detroit..they are just too tough.
^^ i'm surprised myself, calgary has won 2 in a row...u've got some good points there, i think cloutiers exclusion from the matches might've just been the back-breakin straw for the canucks...yesterdays 2 - 1 victory of the flames over the canucks gives them a 3 - 2 lead in the series now...
what a nite...
sharks advance to the next round of the playoffs beating the blues 3 - 1 and winnin the series in 5 games (4 - 1)
canadiens are back strong and have forced game it upto game 6 now with yesterdays convinding 5 - 1 victory over the bruins, leaving that series 3 - 2...hopefully they can carry on with this momentum into game 6 and force game 7, and win that as well...
red-wings also beat the predators 4 - 1 which gives them a 3 - 2 lead in the series...
and tonite once again, all eyes on the leafs and sens...expectin lightning to wrap up the series 4 - 1 and push through to the next round of the play-offs...
