those who think muslims shud celebrate new year at muharram 1st, be informed that the islamic calendar did not exist in the time of the Prophet (saw) and neither was muharram marked as the first month of the year....
so there is no new year to be celebrated for muslims, neither in the hijri nor in the gregorian calendar....
i dont understand why man shud celebrate the start of a cycle that he himself has marked out....
although i also "celebrate" new year with friends and "bikes" ..but this is the idiotic thing to celebrate....sharab,drugs and other unislamic activities r extremely on such day..

even more,a year of human life is passed away...so there is no sense in so called celebrating of new year...
the Gregorian calendar is a Christian calendar, decreed by Pope Gregory XIII in a papal bull on 24 February 1582.
For those people who use excuse that oh everybody is using the gregorian calender so its ok to have a new years celebration or to take the non muslim madiniyah don't make excuses, this christian calender was introduced after the destruction of the Islamic state only Saudi arabia uses the Hijrah calendar today. Celebrating paganism culture was never halal so those arguing that it is fine bring your evidence for it otherwise don't be spreading ignorant comments for which you have no proof.

I think we already did with the tawaaf, and the kissing of the black stone.
Yes do use common sense, why would Islam say no to celebrating new years, christmas..etc? Because once you get into it, it's hard to get out of it. Let' say you start going out with friends that go to clubs and drink/smoke, once your in, it's hard to get out. All Islam says is that do not even get into it.. Then when you think deeper than what your thinking, you will see what we are talking about. May Allah help you.
Again, if you think everyone celebrates these holidays by going to a club and drinking and smoking, then you have much more to see in the world than what your myopic viewpoint allows you to see now.
How can anyone associate spending Christmas or New Years having dinner with family and friends to that of a "Western Celebration", and therefore "haram"? For the love of God...........
Celebrating the New Year has nothing to with Islam or any other religion. By giving it an Islamic or non Islamic significance only reinforces the contention that Islam is more about culture than it is about 'religion'. It also reinforces the notion that Islam doesn't allow any fun or celebration at all unless it was also done 1400 years ago. The way New Years is celebrated today has only been around for a few hundred years. Is there any form of celebration that has come about in the past 1400 years that isn't forbidden?
^
back 1400 years, they had 2 festivals in a year to celebrate....
then they had the marriage celebrations....
and celebrations when a child is born....
occasional parties from well-off members of societies existed....
exchange of presents was encouraged too (the famous hadith "tahaadu, tahaabu")....
and then one day in the week was declared to be a festive day (friday)....
i think thats more than enough for celebrations....
but since u ask, back then there was no cricket, and now we celebrate the cricket victories like crazy (add to that footballl and others too)....
i dont hear many mullahs declaring that as haraam....
No what you did was evade the question, bring your proof once again for your xmas and new years partying? if you don’t have it theirs no shame in admiting it.
As for the hajj ritual of kissing the black stone this was an action of prophet(saw) which is considered a sunnah if you have opportunity unless you calling the prophet(saw) somebody who promotes paganism from back in the day i am sure you are not that foolish, the individual Hajji should obey the Sunnah and not to oppose the laws of Allah (swt) with his own reasoning.
Umar(ra) when he had opportunity when performing the hajj said “I know that you are only a stone and that you can neither benefit nor harm. If I had not seen the Prophet (saw) kiss you, I would not have kissed you.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1520; Muslim, 1720).
As muslims we cannot pick and choose which shariah laws we like and which we don’t, what muslims do on the hajj is equal to the rule of praying juma or fajr nimaz, what makes us do these actions is to gain the pleasure of allah(swT)
another example is the eating of pork we don’t eat pork because allah(swt) made it so, not because its unhealthy or it has 78% fat or it leads to heart disease or all these other ridiculous arguments its simple allah(swt) said it forbidden thats it.
Muslims cannot decide what is good or bad as the example of prophet ibrahim(as) when he was told by allah(saw) to sacrfice his son prophet(as) and his son did not doubt this because they realised that He (swt) was the creator and that their purpose was to worship Him.
The sole reason for Hajj is that it is for the sake of Allah (swt) and is performed in the way allah(swt) revealed through the Muhammad(saw).
This process of inventing rational reasons in the rituals of Islam is danger since it will lead to disobedience from rituals that have no apparent rational reason and weakens Islam.
I now refer you back to the first paragrah answer when you are ready.
No, none of them will ever do such a thing. PCG has got the indised links and she knows. None of them ever go to the swingers clubs that are very prevelant in NY. PCG, your ignorance is a paramount and no one can beat it.
