Hello I am new to US, just got here a few months ago, and recently joined Paklinks. Interesting mix of people on Paklinks. I hope I will be welcomed here better than the Desi’s I met on the airport and in Uni so far. Very arrogant Desi’s, I hope everyone is not like them.
I will be attending Stamford University in the autumn (LOL at fall, but I will get used to it). People are so friendly here, I thought I would be pelted and ridiculed over here being a muslim, but no-one cares, I got more dirty looks from desi’s than Idid from Gora’s.
Stanford?. What are u doing at the uni and where are u from in Pakistan. A lot of us , including me, are international students from Pakistan. Welcome bayta. BTW you have posted your intro in the wrong forum. Mod will move it soon to cafe.

thanks for the welcome, Gamma Dilation and FunGuy STamford uni is not community college, it is a university in Connecticut near Stamford. I can understand the animosity. I witnessed it from all born and raised here desi's, always trying to put others down.
The reason I chose F.O.B is not becasue I am an "oldie" I chose that name becasue one of the desis spat on me at the Kenedy airport and called me a "FOB", thats when i found out the love between us desis and what FOB means. Even though I am a lot civilized, because I dont spit on people and treat all with respect, I do fit the criteria of being a FOB.
Question if I am an FOB what are the desi's called here? I know "Paki" is a curse word to most pakistanis so that cannot be it.

You will ruin the illusion that Americans are all hatefilled animals with the blood of Muslims dripping off their teeth. If you tell them the truth that we are really quite friendly, then they will all want to come here. It has taken us a long time to get desis to hate us so completely.
Anyway, hope you have a good experience here.

PS For the most part, Americans did not pay attention to Pakistanis until the whole 9/11 OBL thing happened. So we have no nasty nicknames for you, as we really have not had enough time to hate and produce bad names. So we will need a little time to think up some name, but in the meanwhile, just relax and enjoy.
