Today in laptop distribution at GCU Lahore, Hamza Shahbaz distributed the laptops and Students were shouting “Imran Teray Jaanisaar ik lac pachees hazar” (as 125000 laptops were distributed). Now this is what you call a great leadership.

My FB list is littered with messages from siblings of students / ex students who got laptops that they were asked to promise to vote for PML-N and were told that you will be contacted regarding PML-N youth membership shortly.

**As the Government of Punjab continues to distribute free laptops to ‘talented’ students in the province, it appears that some have taken to selling the gift online.

A report on the ProPakistani website has revealed that laptops handed out under the e-Youth Initiative program are now allegedly being sold on OLX.com.pk, a website used by buyers and sellers in Pakistan.
A quick search shows sellers pitching their wares stating that the laptop is from the Youth Initiative program and is being sold Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 lower than the market price. Users have also suggested that bargaining can bring the price down. It has also been revealed that some machines are available at Hafeez Center in Lahore at a much lower price. Laptops are reportedly being sold for Rs20,000 and lower than market prices.
The provincial government has so far distributed thousands of laptops in different cities. Students have also complained that laptops are not being distributed on merit. The Lahore High Court (LHC) recently directed the convener of the Youth Development Program investigate whether the laptops being distributed at Government University College (GCU) were on the basis of personal liking or merit.
Asghar Javed, a student of MPhil (Urdu) at GCU, filed a petition on Monday claiming that the laptops being distributed as a part of the program initiated by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were not based on merit.

This explains it all, remember this scheme has been launched through tax payers money not out of Sharif brother’s coffers.

taking political rivalry towards education institutions is just a recipe for disaster.
If PTI is having such mircheen in there back, well wait for your turn, you can distribute half million ipads with tax payer money off course.

True that it is much better than eating up all the money which the central government would do.
The annexed shor sharaba, grand ceremonies and stuff, that's wasting money. But that's there with every political party.
People are just looking at the funny side of the story where the political advantage envisioned by the benevolent rulers of Punjab through this scheme is nowhere to be seen.

There is nothing wrong in giving laptops as the government will be paying for it, and the government is promoting the scheme to reward deserving and bright students:
When they ask the kids to wear shirts and caps of shahbaz sharif on it, and take oath that they will vote for pmln that is wrong. Is the government spending govt money or from their Sharif brothers pockets? If they are giving these laptops on merit why should they be concerned where the students will vote? Or they should openly say that it's only for pmln workers.

I think there is alot of wrong when you give laptops to students who spend Rs. 80,000 per semester ( engineering students ) and Rs 3 lac per year (medical students). They already can afford Macs and expensive gadgets because hardly any poor student can spend so much money on expensive education.
This would've been appreciated by me if they just gave it to deserving students who study at schools/colleges in under privileged areas and pay Rs. 500 per year as their fee.
And I'm talking from experience here!! My acquaintance who is a medical student got a laptop today through this scheme today and she has a mac air and spends 4.5 per year on her medical degree. Talk about making a difference in lives of the deserving. Cheats!

are they spending more on distribution ceremonies then the cost of the laptops distributed?
60% marks to qualify for laptop is unfair.
This whole scam is to collect voters info like CNIC#.
