Govt. of Punjab has recently announced a scheme (SCAM) of distributing 100,000 Laptops for intelligent and hardworking students. The deadline to apply with a copy of ID card or B form is 31 December. Each Laptop is about Rs.40, 000. that makes a total of 4000000000 , 4 billion rupees. It is a clear indication that Punjab govt is trying to use govt funds to attract youth and collect ID cards that will be used to create fake votes. PMLN can foresee that they are going to be out of power in the coming elections in current political situation. I am sure they are not going to give away a single Laptop to anyone within the next couple of months but it is just to make fool of youth and collect ID cards for voting purposes. What is your take on this,/???
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
Anything PML-N or PPP does is just a scam, the only party in Pakistan is PTI and everything else is fake or scam, what right does Punjab Govt have to give out 100,000 laptops to some hardworking students, these students should not even have a right to look at the laptops, Punjab Govt, should be hanged for this, and Shahbaz Sharif should be sent for death sentence, how dare he gave out computers to 100,000 students, that is just wrong, like is said earlier, these students does not have right to new technology... these laptops should have been sent to Africa, where laptops or desktops are used to provide education....
All this is just to get the Copies of ID Card so that the fake 100,000 votes can be created, now i don't know if you have got any idea that to win a single constituency one may need about 80,000 votes...
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
I think we should appreciate the good deeds done by any political party. But my friend hanibal, I will give you a logical reason as to why solutions like Sasta-Tandoor and Laptop are not the correct solution. There are actually two types of solutions, the first category is taking a fish out of a pond and giving it to a man dying from hunger. Sure, one life is saved and that dying guy is grateful for that one day. Now there is another possible solution, teach that man how to fish and he can live the rest of his life without worrying about hunger.
All these schemes such as BISP and Sasta tandoor and laptops are temporary solutions which will not bring long-term benefits. Instead of this, why not create some sort of indigenous industry and employ these people and youth for lifetime. Generate revenues, get the economy going and so on.
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
hahaahha...........what a waste of resources...
laptops don't educate people..........at least not till they reach university....
the money would've better been spent on fixing existing school's infrastructure, training the teachers etc.........
just like the Danish school waste............ few schools ,you spend millions, leave thousands of school without even basic requirements..............
I AM NOT SAYING IT IS CORRUPTION BASED, SINCE THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF THAT YET...............BUT SUCH POLICIES ARE CLEARLY WASTE OF RESOURCES AND CHEAP POPULARITY.
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
I want to get a laptop, what do I need to do?
Take part in 50 PML-N rallies?
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
Isnt someone giving iPads yet?
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
^^ Only if you belong to PML-Q in Punjab assembly and are "Like-Minded" ...
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
Indian govt did the same thing. but first they invented a laptop of $35 and then planned to give it out for free to students.
maybe pak punjab govt can get those laptops from india which will only cost them around 3000-4000 instead of 40000.

Let me tell you something my friend, do you know who are getting these laptops? from your post above, it seems like you have just heard about the example but never bothered to think about it... how the man is going to catch a fish out of the pond without proper equipment... any suggestions on that...
I urge you to look into the students who are getting it.. instead of just criticizing for the sake of criticism will take you no where, i would say if half of the students getting these laptop use them to its potential then this would have a far-reaching impact...

To some laptops/computer seems to be just another facility they have right to access and are lying in big numbers in their homes, whereas, if you try to notice, when you get out of Lahore/ISB/Karachi(by road), then there are some human-like things moving around, they are not human like things, they are human and many of them have not seen or heard about Laptops, given the deserving students these laptops and you are comparing it with BISP and Sasti Roti.. says alot

I don't know if the value of the Laptop being distributed is 40,000, the OP have so far not provided any source to confirm the figure!!!
Indian IT infrastructure is far more advanced then of Pakistan, the Pakistani IT infrastructure may take another 5-10 years before they can make their own DESK-TOP let alone a comparatively complex portable computer. So i guess the benefits for this kind of program are far more greater than the actual cost being incurred.
The criteria of selecting students is
One hundred thousand Laptops will be provided to following categories of youth in Punjab:
- All students of 4 years BS Degree Programme who have secured.
- 60% or above marks (in the previous year) in case of annual examination system OR 70% or above marks (in the previous semester) in case of semester system.
- All post graduate students (Part I & II) of 2 year Masters Degree Programme, who have secured.
- 60% or above marks (in the previous year) in case of annual examination system OR 70% or above marks (in the previous semester) in case of semester system.
- All currently enrolled students/scholars of MS, LLM, M.Phil and Ph.D
- The top 100 students of each Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Punjab.
Computers/Laptops are necessity for research and development in this era, we often criticize govt for not taking R&D seriously or for not spending enough... but when govt decides to do it, then we have all kind of criticism, yes may be the cheap laptop can be made or purchased from India but given the situation between the two countries and improper IT infrastructure, it is almost impossible to have it....
Millions or should i say Billions go down the drain in the name of corruption and charity... if few millions are spent on providing such tools to the deserving students then i guess it is not bad deal at all
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
Oh wow. I didn't realize educated Pakistanis could act like PPP party workers. These forums now sound like a zoo with each animal sounding off louder and louder for no reason.

Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
Seeing these tactics I remember the previous elections in which people used PMLQ's arranged vehicles to get transported to the polling stations and voted PMLN! I didnt receive my family's polling details, and tried in vain to find a PMLN office in the area (there was none) whereas a big PMLQ office, went in, got the voting details (name of polling booth and vote number etc), drank tea and the next day voted PMLN.
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
keep trashing public money, first "sastee roti" now "muft laptop"... what next? Its better to setup computer labs and 'hardworking' students be given access as priority, but no, we want to 'give away' public money.
Re: New SCAM of Punjab Govt to fool youth......
Hey, we have aid aka "loans" flowing in so why worry?
