Iconclast the arab youth he metnions, emans they wish to attain the physique of the pashtun(afghan), and the farang women desire it. Khushal Khan Khattak was a freedom fighter urging the afghan tribes to unite as one against the mughals. They had no right on our territory, and the mughals were the enemies of pashtuns. Secondly, Afghanistan consirders all ethnic groups part of Afghanistan, however the word Afghan is specifically used for Pashtun. Why should I give this identity up. I am all for equality of ethnic groups, however all pashtuns are afghans, and I am not interested in giving it up.

In an interview with GEO balak sher mazari said that now he thinks that punjab should be divided into thre provinces for administrative reasons and he supported the idea of seraiki province

i mean are we sure your solutions would be solutions to problems?.....and that no more new problems would arise?......
No one can deny that problems could arise from the new setup. However the draconian FCR that keeps Pushtoons chained to the archaic rules and the mercy of a fat political agent must go.
FATA should either get control from Peshawar or they should be given a separate province. For cryin out loud, how long we will endorse keeping these Pushtoons under the yoke of corrupt political agents?

You are right FCR has got to go, adn Fata should come under Peshawar. No more divisions of pashtuns further, but under peshawar, it will be a favoured move.

However that division isn't that big as say making a whole new province all together. I think bringing it under peshawar is a sound choice. Now abolishment of Fcr will be great as well, hopefully new schools, and development will follow.

FCR will automatically go as soon as FATA comes under provincial rule. There will be some serious consititutional issues to deal with. FATA has had a totally different set of laws from those of the Frontier province.
So eithter the laws of Frontier have to be changed in order to accomodate FATA laws, or FATA should get entirely new set of laws closer to their way of life and existing setup.

The title of the news was pretty good. However it is missing the key details. If the FATA system is simply updated, and the area remains under Feds, then we are dealing with the same ole $hite.
Time to merge FATA with Peshawar or give it the status of the province.
Let’s end on baby steps for this beautiful but utterly under-developed area.

Bugti and Marri areas of Balochistan are officially not tribal areas but they still face the same problems. Even if FATA is abolished, this will not be a solution if the province as a whole remains powerless to collect and use funds as it wants.

I don't think there are many people from FATA who visit web forums, so I don't believe that to be correct. Are there any resolutions by the tribal councils in FATA demanding union with NWFP, or any demonstrations in this regard?

There are, but once again there is a lot of illeteracy, adn what not. However there are personalities working to bring it together. How successful they will be time will tell.

So far FATA Maliks get their checks signed in Islamabad. If they can get their checks from Peshawar, they would go with Frontier. However if they feel, checks may not come through on time, they may want a separate province. It is lot more about hard cash than ideologies.

Good points, but Pushtoons are no Balochis.
Pushtoons are more agressive in getting development funds from the center. Kohat tunnel was built and no Pushtoon bombed the construction crews. Even now Pushtoons are asking for more roads and better infrastructure. BB killed Pindi-Peshwar motorway. It was Pushtoon pressure that revived the project.
Giving rights to FATA will definitely be better than what they have now.
^^ Yeap the 18th century draconian FCR (Frontier Crimes Regulations) must be sent to the garbage bin.
Peshawar hasn't worked hard enough to bring FATA under provincial control. If they want, then put FATA under Peshawar. Otherwise let's demand a separate province named Khattak (After the great poet and philosopher Khushal Khan Marhoom) that covers FATA. We should also given few areas like DI Khan and Punjab city like Mianwali.
Who knows Imran Khan may get elected as the first Chief Minsiter of this new Province. Go Imran go.
to think about FATA is too far. Peshawar administration even dont have solution to deal PATA. what is the sense to have PATA (Provincially Administrated Tribal Area) .
Whole FATA is a line with border. it need to adjust with neighbouring districts as half of the tribal already live in Bandobasti Areas. and important to adminstrative access because the area is hilly.
