New Players after WC

I am guessing we will see some new faces in the team after the WC. Who do you think will be able to make it to the top level. Herez my guess…

Fawad Alam
Anwar Ali Khan

For some strange reason i think we might see yet another return of these players

Hasan Raza
Misba-ul-Haq

Re: New Players after WC

Agree with Fawad, Anwar and Hasan names but I bet Misba will only come into side if PCB doesn't want Younis to be the skipper. If they are ok with Younis as a skipper then I don't see Misba coming, rather Hasan Raza, Fawad and Faisal Iqbal will be the contender. I will personaly allow Faisal or Hasan to replace Inzi and keep Fawad as a backup with the side for Younis, Yousaf and Hasan/faisal.

In bowling department, pakistan should allow entry of Youngsters like Samiullah Niazi (left arm), and Anwar Ali and co.

Re: New Players after WC

After alot of contemplatiing, Who is the new coach, will sway who replace Inzi.

I think much will depend on how Malik perform in WC 07 as well. If Malik gives a decent performance then I believe he will directly swap Inzi's #

For Openers:
Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed and Imran Nazir (one pair should be considered for long term).

Middle-order:
Fawad Alam (ofcourse), Hasan Raza (Hmhmmm...) Asim Kamal(unlucky player) Faisal Iqbal.

Wicket Keeper:
Zulquairnain Haider, Mohammad Salman (Fsb) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (khi)

Bowlers:
Spin -bowling:
Tahir Khan and Mansoor Amjad

Pace/ Medium - pace bowling:
Anwar Ali, Riaz Afridi, Mohd Khalil, Akther Ayub, Samiullah and Najaf Shah.

All-rounder:
Yasir Arafat (he is truely becoming a contender).

Re: New Players after WC

Are we so negative about this WC that we are already talking about the post WC players…?
:smack:

Re: New Players after WC

I think this has nothing to do with WC team and expectations, I am sure they will do good, generally there is a build up (injection of fresh blood) after WC and many of the mentioned players are knocking again and again with their good domestic performances.

Re: New Players after WC

acr....what makes you think that instead of Asif/Umer we will introduce the loosers like Riaz Afridi. Khalil and Najaf Shah? Anwar Ali for Shoaib's absences is better than Sami or Rao. But changing the whole line up all of sudden with below par medium pacers is not a wise thing.

We are talking about replacements. The biggest of which is Inzi's. If Alam is any better than Iqbal, then he must be given some chances. Starting with domestic series if possible, give him (or whoever) a good one series run to show the muscles and face Int'l cricket pressure.

Re: New Players after WC

Good suggestions by everybody. I would also like to throw in Abdul Rehman's name in the hat, as he is likely to be featured more prominently and on a regular basis.

Re: New Players after WC

SG the guys mentioned are not replacement for Asif/ Umer at all, well you can say new players to watch out for. or the guys who are doing well in the domestic arena, not for one season but little more than that (2 seasons or more).

Re: New Players after WC

Dhobi bhai, I consider A. Rehman already a part of the team, I know he has place few games but IMO he would have a long career if handle/trusted properly.

Re: New Players after WC

The players that I have mentioned above are domestic top performer’s…

Re: New Players after WC

I know they misunderstood you.. I agree with you that these are potential contenders, but as SmoothG stated most of the players from present squad will stay for long term. I think post WC, Pakistan may need replacements for:

  1. Inzi (immediately if loose or within a year otherwise)
  2. Akhtar (not if he survived whole WC, then he may play for 2-3 more years).
  3. Akmal (atleast a backup immediately)
  4. Rao (back to domestic for ever)
  5. Razzaq (As long as Razzaq is performing he will be preserved but Yasir Arafat will keep pressure on him)

Rest of the team will stay and who knows may play next world cup. For above players,

  1. Pakistan will look into Hasan/Faisal and Asim Kamal as immediate successors for Inzi, but Fawad will be a good prospect in long term.

  2. Anwar Ali will be groomed or who knows may be pitched into the arena as a possible substitute for Akhtar in long term. For know Gul and Sami may take over the reign.

  3. Samiullah Niazi/ Khalil should take over Rao place, since he will give variety as a left arm.

  4. Zulqarnain will be backup for Akmal.

  5. Yasir Arafat will be putting his claim for Razzaq or Rana position in the team.

Younis, Yousaf, Afridi, Asif, Kaneria, Gul, Sami, Malik, Yasir Hameed will keep their spots, Farhat, Butt, and Hafeez will be going in and out. Hasan Raza or Faisal Iqbal if cashed on the opportunity then they may cement their place, otherwise Asim Kamal will take Inzi position in test and Fawad may come into play in ODI.

I think even before Inzi, Pakistan should get rid of BARI, and they should appiont full time paid selectors, who will watch domestic games and hunt for talent.

Re: New Players after WC

Watch out for Shahid Yousuf. A very good batsmen who likes to bat up the order at #3 or open sometimes. His average isn't as good as Misbah or Raza, but I've seen the kid play in a few domestic games and he has a very good technique and I'm sure he'll make the team very soon!

Re: New Players after WC

Can see likes of Bazid Khan being tried into the middle order.

Re: New Players after WC

I completly forgot to meantion Salman Butt, hez coming back to the team definatly after WC.

Re: New Players after WC

I want to see Akhter Ayoob and Jamshed Ahmed bowling in national team...

Anwer Ali Khan is a good bowler too but I only find him bowling in-swing... he needs to get the variety in his bowling .. move both ways and think intelligently...

Re: New Players after WC

Jamshed was performing nicely in domestic and then he vanished suddenly. Akhtar still has to perform in order to impress. Anwar Ali has been given more chances then first 2. Here are their profiles

Jamshed

Akhtar

Anwar Ali

Re: New Players after WC

bhart mai jai poori team.

Re: New Players after WC

:D relax karoo teaser... inshallah there will be light at the end of the tunnel :)

Re: New Players after WC

Well there is nothing wrong in grooming two youngsters, Jamshed and Anwar. This will allow a pair of left and right. And who knows we may have a future pair of Jamshed/Anwar led by Gul/Asif. This will give us a bowling attack comparable to:
Imran, Aaqib, Wasim and Waqar in the form of Gul, Asif, Jamshed and Anwar. Gul is shaping up as a good future alrounder.

Re: New Players after WC

Thats the key word right there, we need to groom new talent along with current players (just like Aussies do )
