We are slowly and surely going down the right path, we have a very long way to go, but to use one of my favourate quotes.
“A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES, BEGINS WITH ONE STEP” - Chairman Mao
What with the motorways, the magtech cercular railways for Karachi, the new airport terminal for Lahore, Islamabad- the upgrade of Faisalabad airport to international standard, Gwadar port - coastal highway.
Thats awessome.. I love Pakistan..
But I was wondering, does Islamabad Airport have anything new? Lst time I was there they had to pick people up in a bus and take them to the check in, and there was no passenger loading bridge, had to go outside for that aswell...I was wondering if they have improved the facilities since?
is it up for compeletion date now set as 9th november -the iqbal day!
it has missed many dealines in the past, as I always dream to land on new lahore airport but always end up on bus station like international airport :( well its good news
In related news, finally after a 15 year delay, a much much needed airport in Sialkot will see construction finally start in October. The airport figures to literally work wonders for the already glowing economy of Sialkot. I will post exact details once I get my hands on them.
saddened to see a VIP Lounge.. can't it be renamed 1st class lounge?? when are we ever gonna get rid of this barrier imposed between the public and the elite who rule them.
kinda childish website… lame flash work with images with inappropraite resolution.. and ** launch into the feture ** ? … first they should learn how to spell “future”…
the 2 images they used in the intro … one is from newyork and other one is from hongkong… the facilities they showed in the intro were from random airports and not our airport. could have spent some time taking the pictures…
Iqbal was not a Lahori, it should have been named after someone from Lahore, e.g., Gulab Devi International Airport, or Sir Ganga Ram International Airport.
First they name a Stadium after a Terrorist, and now they name an Airport after someone not from there. I, as a Lahoria object to such a move. It is totally stupid.
I've just been to Pak and Islamabad airport seemed the same to me as it was 7 years ago, you still get on the bus to go into the airport ( But I think walking down the steel steps is much better than walking into a tunnel - its just one of those wonderful feelings when you land on Pakistan soil ) and then you go into the airport - get your passprt stamped, get your luggage and then go thru to your rellies.. )
But like in my case if you have a safaarish then all that gets done for you.. and your daddy's already there :)
wich reminds me - i wanted to start a thread on safaarish's :)
It's a great news and there's nothing really in names.. and websites can always be upgraded. Although, I hope they left enough room for extension as 14 dockings are by no means enough for a city like lahore. There's another great news that over fifty airlines have inquired about the landing arrangement at the new airport. With open skies policy in effect, it's likely that many Europeon and NA will start flying into Lahore.
Don't negate the other supporting infrastructure such as links to motorways, and most importantly the new Maglav, that will connect airport and Shahdara...
NYA, Iqbal is as much a Lahoriya as you are (per your own admission in another post)<<<<<
PA. If that be the case, they should name it after me. NYA International Airport. They won’t even name a TangiaN ala Ada after me, let alone an airport. There are two types of Lahorias, type 1 is when you feel that you are a Lahoria, and type B is when other people feel that you are a Lahoria. Iqbal fits neither criteria. He was from Sialkot, and they can name soccer balls after him if they want (they are actually planning an airport there, so there you go).
They have so many things named after Iqbal. It is getting quite sickening. Iqbal Town, Iqbal Med College, Iqbal Road, Iqbal this and Iqbal that. Even Iqbal will object to Iqbalization of Lahore.
I say that name the airport after some authentic and original Lahoria. They named Liverpool airport after John Lennon, I would say that name Lahore airport after Data Sahib. What a lovely tribute to a lovely saint. Hazrat Pir Ali Hajveri Data Ganj Baksh Rehmatulla Elaeh International Airport.
Here's a shre for you:
Gange-Bakhshe Faiz-e-Alam, Mazher-e-Noor-e-Khuda
Nakisan ra Pir-e-Kamil, KamilaN ra Rehnuma
Are you out of your mind? We wont even object if they rename Islamabads airport after Iqbal... Iqbal was our hero, and his influence in not limited to just Sialkot alone... Gulab Devi and Ganga Ram, my ass... Why would we name it after those guys? No one considers them important enough...
You are just plain jealous that the title goes to Allama Iqbal... Because only a jealous anti-Pakistani would object to such a thing...
btw, they are about to start work on Islamabads new airport... I think it should be named after Liaqat Ali Khan...

Right on!!! Sometimes after coming from the worlds best airports, the feeling is a bit awkward, but then again I realize, this is my home, and this is my own airport, all that anger over the lack of facilities etc dies out...
Spock because you are not informed. And I doubt you even know where Lahore is. The city Lahore itself is named after Lo, son of Ram. That should give you some itching in your backside.
