would inviting them all some day to our house , for tea , work?
I am just thinking something away from food .... already dead with cooking hell loads for guests coming over ... so really dont want to add to the load .... but I really need some fancy ideas ..
I'm not sure inviting them all round for tea and cakes will work...some of your neighbours may see that as a sign for a permanent invitation!
If you've recently moved in, I'd observe your neighbours first (no, not like a stalker!) just to see what kind of families there are, i.e. elderly neighbours, young family etc. if its an elderly neighbour, take some cakes/ cookies round. If its a young family, invite them round for afternoon tea. Whereas a young professional may just be too busy so next time you see him/ her just say hi and introduce yourself!
Apart from the obvious food, you can take flowers or a plant (which could get expensive)!
Surely helps … Thanks guys … lovelychica , very valid points raised … I think i will wait until we have moved and observe them for a few weeks and then will perhaps send a note of intro and a few chocies as inaya suggested
When we moved to an all gora elderly area, we invited all our neighbours for some tea and snacks. We took the invites to them personally so they could meet us. At the party we had chicken sandwiches, choc chip cookies, carrot cake, cheese and crackers, mini samosay, tea/soda etc. Our neighbours loved everything and had a blast. It was a nice way of meeting everyone and introducing ourselves.
Its really sweet of you to want to do this. I agree that everyone likes sweets, so either drop of some brownies or invite them over for tea and sweets. If you invite them over, you should definitely include something Pakistani in your snacks...just like a personal touch.
