Since when did the Insurgents swear to play by the rules? The American terrorists however, day in and day out plead that they don’t resort to terrorism (cough cough), yet day in and day out, massacre civilian men women and oh get this, prisoner children. Yes, the insurgents dont play by the rules. But if the americans didnt play by the rules you would see a lot more incidents than just abu gharib and haditha and a few others. Its war, these things have happened and will continue to happen.
Since the time when Men started fielding armies into battle, troops have acted out of hand. Whether its the soviet soldiers gang raping german women in 1945, to german troops destroying czech villages in 1942, to american soldiers killing 500 unarmed german ss prisoners, to the japanese killing 10,000 american soldiers in the bataan death march, etc...
These things have happened and will continue to happen.
The difference is whether the military heirarchy is going to punish the guilty troops and in this case, USA is.
I know you wont understand this since you cant get a visa to come to USA, but americans are good and friendly people and I know many american soldiers since my cousin was killed in iraq in 2004. They are not blood thirsty, fire breathing monsters as arabs and muslims like to beleive but really kind and considerate troops.
I never supported the invasion of Iraq to begin with because I knew that Iraq will de-evolove into its current state which is bad for USA, Iraq and the whole world.

look at the indian army (kashmir massacares), russian army (chechen and afghan massacares), syria (al-hama massacare), algerian army, sudanese army, and on and on and on..........
USA still holds soldiers accountable...
And the reason for the military adventures its because USA is the world leading super-power and as such it gets involved in conflicts to preserve the world order.
whether its helping South Korea defeat North Korea, help south vietnam defeat north vietnam, help afghans defeat the soviet union, lead the coalition against the Iraqi invasion of kuwait, etc.....

There is NO country whose military plays by rule, period. US is no exception. Every country's military may put a show of "trial" of its officers involved and may even punish some but doesn't mean that all justice was served. From Gitmo to Abu Ghraib there are tons of injustices where 'rules' were passed by without proper accounting.
