The US military covered it up. So where was their conscience in doing such. If they covered it up then that means they condoned it until irrefutible evidence has emerged and they have no other choice but to investigate into it. Nobody is bound more by the law than those enforcing it. If you come back and give me an argument about those chopping heads then remember you called them terrorists so they are already classified as those rebelling against the law so do not hold them to any moral standards however soldiers fighting for freedom should be following a code of conduct and they are more bound by the law than terrorists. If not then this is simply tribal wafare where we have countries substituting for tribes here.

This is banter of convenience. Arabs, and the Islamic world, call the terrorists freedom fighters, rebels, patriots defending their homeland, and pious religious warriors. Forget that the insurgents are almost all Sunni and routinely kill Shias, bomb their holy places, chop off heads, and commit horrible acts. Yet, when the Americans are accused on something, the pious all of a sudden become the filthy. Where I come from, it is called moral relativism.

If you read the title of the thread it is about The AMERICAN TROOPS massacring Iraqis. If you want to discuss this then stay within the topic. If you want to discuss the beheadings or other actions you hold against the extremist groups then open a thread and I will definitely come and debate on that as well. Please don't sidestep the topic of the thread by comparing two evils. We are only discussing one of them here. If you can't answer my posts original concerns then just be quiet than rather starting another topic within this thread. No one is stopping you from starting another thread about the things you find repugnant and wrong. And as for those extremists they do not hide after they do whatever acts they do and deny any responsibility or concoct fairytales around it. Their objectives and tactics are open for any one to see unlike in this scenario where things have been covered up to make the troops appear like angels. You are welcome to point fingers at others but then have the courage to stand up and admit something wrong about yourself when it is pointed out.

Exactly, thats why this is now being investigated. The Soldiers responsible for this will be court martialed. US General Patton was reprimanded in WWII for slapping a soldier in Italy and he publically apologized. US forces who participated in the Mi Lai Massacare were court martialled, and same will happen here. These are 18 and 19 year old kids who are not designed nor trained for this kind of warfare. These kinds of things happen and will continue to happen.
Its not just the american military this happens to but every other military on the planet who is engaged in this kind of warfare.
Whether its the Mexican army fighting the native indians in chiapas, Columbian forces battling FARC, Sri Lanka fighting the Tamils, Pakistan battling the Balochis and Pashtuns, etc....
It is something that is almost unavoidable. They are human beings and they make mistakes.
But with all due respect, this is just another attempt to malign the USA and its troops. I really wish that Muslims would apply the same kind of scrutiny that they do on USA on other countries througout the world especially muslim and arab.
Look at whats happening in Algeria, or what happened in Lebanon or Syria.
Syria massacared 20,000 arabs in al-hama and yet arabs always cry about sabra and shatilla because israel was connected to that.
So what this tells me is that Arabs/Muslims only care when lives are lost when non-arabs and muslims are behind it even though their death toll is miniscule and they ignore the deathtoll caused by arabs and muslims even though it dwarfs the killings done by non-arabs and non-muslims.

A court marshall that will not serve equivalent justice. Just a political move to save face. The innocent lives lost cannot be recovered. I would blame the US military for having a policy where they send 18 or 19 year old soldiers into such kind of warfare. How would you act if you were on the receiving end of this incident. An 18 or 19 year old American whether in the army or not has nothing but curves on his mind. Senior military officers should be blamed for putting such immature kids in such responsible positions. War and life is not a joke where you can leave it at the mercy of teenage kids who grew up playing doom on the internet.

Agreed somewhat. Reminds me of what Pakistani's did to Bangladeshi's in 1971. Some places we do not hear about like China in East Turkestan etc. This propaganda game is something that has infested the muslim world from the west and europe. They should not complain when we play their game against them.

True. But you cannot pass judgement on the entire military establishment just by looking at the few bad apples.
Yes innocent lives cannot be recovered. But atleast US has a mechanism in which these kinds of incidents are investigated. The US military is a volunteer military and many 18 and 19 year olds volunteer.

The military establishment is responsible for managing its institution. This is not an isolated incident. Numerous such incidents have been reported however proportionate action is rarely taken. You would not buy a bag of apples with a few bad apples in it would you unless you are cheated into it.
Then that more than anything shows their lack of responsibility in sending such an army of volunteers because the soldiers have not been conditioned to any proper code of conduct and yet they are given a license to kill. Or just make them trigger happy. Having a mechanism is not creadible unless it can produce justified results. Pakistan has mechanisms for everything, do you ever see them work?
