hello,I`m a new guy from Beijing,China.
I plan to go to Pakistan this summer after my graduation from the college.
I want to study in Punjab University and get a part-time job the same time.anybody give me some information?thx.

Its better to stay in Lahore, which will give you opertunity to work and study at the same time. If you are thinking staying in Islamabad/Karachi then there will be problems with your study at Punjab University. if you sre studying from other provinces you need a certificate of migration. Do check these things before you decide of living outside punjab area.

Welcome to the boards sir. If you plan to study in Punjab University then you will be living in lahore. Im sure some members of this board from lahore will be more than happy to show you around.

If you have never been to Pak, then seriously don't go. It will be way too tough for you.
Do you know Mandarin/Cantonese? Does the circumstances allow you to carry on there?

Im Chinese,I speak Mandarin everyday,maybe my English is not good enough,thats why pakistan is a good choice,i can practice my enlish there.

Don’t go then The basic things are the hurdle. Which passport do you have? Are you born there? Its expensive for a forienger to study there, they charge more then the local and since you say you speak mandarin, do you know urdu/punjabi? I know of few from HK who went back there to study and didn’t like it. Its a complete another world. As for English you can practice it back there too, you have foreinger there. Its just motivation to speak more English and less mandarin. You will end up learning/improving the lang, Urdu/punjabi, instead of Eng there. Ponder seriously about it if you are really heading there. If you don’t know/understand the lang, i think it will be hard for you to find a part-time job too.

i have the chinese passport,and the embassy of pak will give me the visa if i wanna go.they say the tuition would be 2000 USD per year and the cost of living in lahore will be less than in beijing i think.
i m not sure how the basic things there maybe i should go and chek it out in advance.
language is a big problem.i know nothing about urdu and punjabi,i just know some english,maybe i can get a part-time job in a Chinese company:)

Ok. Will be a hard for you. The cost of living varies and may end up being more expensive. Get more information about the daily stuff, then decide it . And do toughen up. It will not be what you have the impression it will be. And try not speak English in public if you don’t look like pakistani. Observe more and get to learn the local lang first. TC and may it be safe. Do keep this thread updated if possible.

keep us updated, i wanna know how pakistan is for you.. beware most people ( i meet) pretty rude and are only nice to "white" foreigners.. dont let the store owners rip you off for being a foreigner.. they can tell im an american when i visit pakistan..
