New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD (September 10 2006): New gas reserves have been discovered in Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan. According to initial estimates, 15 million cubic feet gas would be obtained from the gas-field one well.

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has planned to undertake drilling of three more wells in the Jhal Magsi district for exploration of gas reserves, PTV reported.

Buisness Recorder

Subhan’Allah. Now before the Balochi brothers get all emotional… just think and question, who is actually exploring these wells? I don’t think the Balochis have the gas exploration technology!

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Balochis do not even have food to eat or proper shelter to live in so where are they going to get technology from? Your statement is ignorant.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

I do agree with that part of your comment. Indeed, Baluchis dont have the gas. Why don't you use your exploration technology in your own backyard and actually explore gas where there are no balochi brothers to get all emotional.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Surely this will mean Balochistan will now become a prosperous province!

Unlikely........

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

the people of balochistan are too dum to harvest their own resources

its a land run by land lords who oppress the people, keep them uneducated so they can continue to weild their power

i am glad the army is finally moving against this last bastion of slavery in pakistan

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Now, now, please do remember bro, only 18% gas comes outta Balochistan, while 72% gas comes outta other states of Pakistan.

You do realise that don't you?

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Everyone but brilliant army mind is too dumb for anything. This is called colonist mentality. Majority of landlords are in the army’s pocket, so it is the army who indirectly supports this slavery.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

With attitudes like that, no wonder they don't want to remain in Pakistan

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Incorrect. Majority do.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

It will be much better if a just payment plan is set right at start, that is suitable for Federal and Balochistan government and Magsi tribe.

Good, Pak will not be dependant on anyone for gas for decades now.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Thats really a good news for all of us. Balochistan is continuously providing its resources to all except its own people. So we need to celebrate, while its mourning for poor Balochis, we are going to suck their blood further.
And I like your last question, its definitely Punjab who are exploring all gas, oil, minerals etc in all provinces except its own. Only Punjab has the technology, key and license to get electricity, oil, gas, minerals, coal etc and no body else.
So congratulation to all.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

i dont think we are sucking their blood or any ordinary punjabi but elite class in which majority happens to be punjabis.
by the way its irony people talk about balochistan and blame sardars for backwardness and are blind to the fact that more than 60% of gas comes from sindh and those areas are as much backwards as some of in balochistan therefore its not just sardars to be blamed in balouchistan but state itself.
here is another example, there are oil wells in badin sindh and its around 120-150 kms away from karachi years has passed crude is still transported via NLC trollers to karachi and i just wonder why they havent built a pipeline because it would be loss to NLC which as we know is subsidiary of Pak ARMY.
arent we messed up.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Yes you are right I mean elite class or Punjabi Lobby but not ordinary punjabis.

are blind to the fact that more than 60% of gas comes from sindh
[/QUOTE]

Can you please further explain it, do you have any statistics to vindicate your statement. How 60% from Sindh?

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

when discovered sui had only 10 trillion cubic feet of gas and now its just 2.8 left.
here are few links that may give you an idea how 60% is quoted and i may say it can be more.
for %tages refer to this link http://www.ppl.com.pk/PPL-page.php?pageName=productionContribution .
this may look messy but i had to get it from varied sources.
links are quoted to give you idea about gas field and some are given just give you ide about capacity.
there are numerous field which i m unable to locate.
firstly check how much sui is producing which is owned by PPL.
Here is the chart:
http://www.ppl.com.pk/PPL-page.php?pageName=productionContribution
PPL sui field owned and others :21.7%
PEL .5% in sindh: http://www.mpnr.gov.pk/Pressrelease 02-06-06.php
Tullow: in NWFP & Punjab combined: 12.1% Operations | Tullow Oil plc (LSE: TLW)
ENI in sindh 10.6% http://www.mpnr.gov.pk/Press Release 68.php
qadir Pur Gas field: 5.6 trillion cubic feet. http://www.oilonline.com/news/headlines/mergers/20060605.Propriet.21373.asp
Mari gas field: 7.6 trillioncubic feet.
ZamZam gas field: 31.7 billion cbit feet.

OMV in sindh15% http://www.earthworks-jobs.com/oil/omvp6031.html

Mari gas field: http://www.marigas.com.pk/GasReserves.htm
dont be surprised to see who owns its none other than fauji foundation.

sui gas field is almost obselete now and i think there are only 10-15 years reserves left if run on lower capacity.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Junaid: Good work. Thanks.

However, keeping in mind the effort you have made to keep your numbers unbiased, I was a bit disappointed to see your remarks about Mari Gas. I have the pleasure of working with Mari Gas and found it to have an absolutely world class management and technical team. It is the best run Oil company in Pakistan. The chairperson may be an army man but all the team running the show has nothing to do with army.

Regarding your comment about NLC is also not found in reason. When you talk about laying a pipe-line to Karachi, you have to look at the economical feasibility. You have to decide what will be cheaper for you in the long run.

MOL has had a major success in the North of Pakistan and is already a major player in the O&G scene of Pakistan.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Dont worry PD, I hope India will provide technology to Balochiz to explore Gas :smokin2:

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

How many Marris and other Balochis work at the Mari gas company?

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

wishful thinking. You need to spend some time in Pakistan, esp amongst the Baloch, govt lotas and Kalpars excluded.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

I have no idea. Eligibility to work should not be based on your ethinicity or affiliation. It should be based on qualification. How many Marris and Balochis have proper qualification to work in an oil company is the right question to ask. If there are many but they cannot get a job, then there is a real problem.

Re: New gas reserves discovered in Balochistan

Before balochis can get higher education, they need schools, technical institutes and universities. And that is the responsibility of the government which takes majority of the gas revenue. Instead the government is more focused on ports and gas companies which will provide no direct benefit to locals.

We already have been told that the sardars are useless, so relying on them is not an option.

It's an insult to go and explore gas in Balochistan and take majority of the revenue to Islamabad with non local managers running the show and maybe some local chowkidars. That hardly qualifies as meaningful development for the local area.
And it qualifies as exploitation of Baloch resources.

Just look at this list of names. Not a single Balochi sounding name. Shameful isn’t it?
