Re: New Coach
It neither about foreign or local coach rather personalities, Bob was a great coach and Inzi could have been a better captain, but both had laid back personalities that resulted in no back up plan. Considering that Younis will be the next captain and assuming that he will be able to consistently remain one of the main batsmen in both ODI and Test for next four years, we need a coach that will mesh with his personality. He needs a coach that will keep the locker room disciplined, also keep the board members to personally and uselessly criticizing him. Younis wants presence, which means when he is on the field he wants all control, we need a coach that will not only help him improve his batting but also positively work with his problems as a captain.
Inzi required a coach that would have questioned him at the beginning and the end of the day. What field placements to choose? Bowling changes.... batting order and the entire strategy of the game, he never got a coach like that neither his vice-captain fraught in to help him out.
So, we must have a coach that will help the batsmen improve their batting. Take care of the locker room as more 'personalities' will arise. Take care of the media and their self made scandals, have a plan B for worst case scenarios and groom new players in case someone goes into a bad patch.
Re: New Coach
^ Do you think big mouth Javed would be the right choice?
Re: New Coach
Whenever Miandad has become our coach, team has hit a high note. We beat better teams and top teams have hard time beating us. I believe same will have when he becomes our next coach, we will have great series, our openers will become consistent and batting line up will be solid and there will be no shuffle. This is his specialty; he can improve batsmen and give them new passion to move on, just like he did with Inzamam after ’03. He just went into new phase when his career was almost over.
Trouble is what happens next, Miandad has no problem captain leading as Wasim was also a captain under him neither he has problem taking care of the locker room or having an assistant coach. Problem is media, Pakistani media lives on sensationalism and our board loves to poke their finger in anything good happening and Miandad do not know how to handle that. Whenever there is a controversy ends his stint as a coach, so alone he can not as he defiantly needs a guy who will do the PR for him. Take care of the controversies created by him or media. I can hardly recall any other coach who had to go through scandals and controversies like Bob, but because he had such good media skills, he was always able to come out of it as a good guy.
Re: New Coach
^ Well. As it stands today, if PCB wants a real coach in the team, not just a name to pencil into the team roster, then the people on their list maybe the following:
1. Miandad,
2. Wasim Akram
3. Aaqib Javed
4. Aamir Sohail
5. Ramiz Raja
I hope that they have the sense of not going for the old farts Intikhab, Mudassir and such.
Even Miandad is getting too old. But he will for sure be on their list.
Re: New Coach
I doubt they'll bring in Miandad... cuz of the **David Abraham **factor.
LOL had me thinking for a while kay yeh David Abraham kon haiy
