Slaughter on the street is not allowed anywhere in the west for obvious reasons. However, they should offer an alternative instead of an outright ban. If its an Animal rights issue, the authorities should provide alternatives that would ensure the animal is not in pain as its being slaughtered. Some form of sedative should be used.

and when fish is caught from ocean they are probably given sleep pills and then killed later.

The point is that we should avoid causing pain where ever it is possible. If there were a way to fish that would avoid a slow tortured death, we would employ that method. But since there isnt, we can either be vegetarians or continue as we are. Being a vegetarian is not an option however, so we are forced to continue as we are. In the case of cattle and goats however, unlike with fish, we do have the option of avoiding pain in the animal we are slaughtering.
I understand this isnt always an option in the real world, due to cost factors, but its something we should consider if at all possible.

I'm not speaking for myself, I'm speaking of the majority of Muslims, and others, for whom becoming a vegetarian is not an option. We refers to society not to any particular individuals.

Again, who is stopping anyone from being "vegetarian"? I haven't come across anyone force feeding meat to others who tried to be vegetarian.

Well, in certain developing countries, you dont have the luxury of being picky over what you eat. Other people feel they have a religous obligation to eat meat, so muslims dont see things that way. So being a vegetarian is no ideal for everyone, although it should be.
Your going of the point however. The point is, we as a society and even as individuals should try to limit the pain we induce in animals we consume where ever possible. It may not be possible with Fish etc, but it may be possible with other animals. If its feasible we should.

People who don't want to 'cause pain' should stop 'consuming' them, simple. People who are 'vegetarians' should not force their ideals on others and vice versa. People who believe 'animal be not pained for consumption' should not force their belief on people who believe otherwise. I can only agree when people oppose causing pain to animal for fun.

A religious obligation to eat meat? Oh, you mean the sacrifice thang. Right. Well, doesn't mean that the rest of the year one has to eat meat. That said, I am not a vegetarian, I eat meat because I like it, not religious reasons.
But I also have butchered plenty of chickens myself, trying to be a responsible meat-eater. And I can certainly say the killing is the hard part, and no matter how painless and quick you try to make it, you are still killing an animal, a living, sentient being (as sentient as chickens can be -- don't raise the bar too high...) And it is hard. In fact I don't know if I will do chickens again. It is just really hard to do the killing.
If the stun gun can knock the animal out, yet it can be bled out according to Islamic Law, then I would think that should keep everyone satisfied.
