Netherlands to ban halal and kosher meat

Re: Netherlands to ban halal and kosher meat

Better question is why would anyone want to see an animal suffer, whether its for consumption or any other reason? If cruelty to animals is a sin in life, then certainly cruelty in death is also a sin.

A lion in the jungle kills because it must, and the means it employ’s are the only means it has. A lion kills in a very brutal manner, but it does so because that is all it can do. We humans however have other options.

We as humans have evolved beyond other predators. The way in which we slaughter an animal is only limited by the limits we place on ourselves. If we choose to slaughter an animal in brutal manner, we can, but we also have the intellectual and spiritual capacity to choose to employ less barbaric means.

There is nothing wrong with killing an animal for the sake of survival. Where survival is an issue, I say people eat whatever they have available. But where survival is not an issue, and a person can live a perfectly healthy life without resorting to eating meats, it becomes harder to justify.

None the less, its not for me to pass judgement. If people eat meat, its their choice. But we should atleast use what means we have at our disposal to make the slaughter of animals as painless as possible. To not at the very least, try to make the death of animal as painless as possible, when we have the means to do so, is cruel.
