Okie I seriously want to know what diet worked for each of you and what didn’t. I eat a little of everything..yes even the odd chocolate sometimes. Total weight loss has gone from 6lbs to now 10 lbs, but it’s not enough.
On the physical side I think I’m doing as much as I can, and weekly my training gets more and more intensive, but I know if I took care of what I ate…or rather ate the right things I might lose more. I have a target and a deadline to reach.
I’m determined, I just need advice, how many times a day to eat, what to eat, if you’ve been throught this give me what worked for you, tell me how you stay away from breaking your diet.
Help! P L E A S E !
PS - Anybody heard of the chemical diet? I’m trying to get my hands on that.
First of all if a person wants to lose weight and maintain it they should take a huge step in making that a lifestyle change not just temporary.
Here is what I did and Alhumdolillah I have lost 15 pounds. I am 120 now and still need to lose 5 more pounds which would put me at an ideal body weight.
For the first two weeks I completely cut back on carbs. Ate more high protein and salads for the first two weeks.
I drank a lot of water and ate almonds as a snack.
By the end of two weeks if you have completely cut back on your carbs you should lose anywhere from 8-14 pounds.
In the third week try introducing back one carb item a day. For example a slice of brown bread or a half cup of brown rice.
After that just start reintroducing your body with small portions of carbs
Everything depends on your portion sizes.
Instead of eating 3 big meals eat 6 small ones. Never let your body feel deprived or hungry. Just by drinking water you will feel energetic and full
Start drinking skim milk.
I also do exercise and jog 2 miles everyday for 4-5 days a week
I have come down from a size 8 to a 4.
Weigh yourself only once a week and if you can't resist the temptation than only do it once every morning after you wake up.
Don't put yourself on any diets chemical or whatever. Eat everything just in smaller portions.
Also, start drinkiing green tea after every meal. YOu will see the difference, InshaAllah.
Key rule is never never deprive yourself. IF you want cake have a very small piece of it but don't deprive bcoz than you will end up eating a big piece and it is going to go straight to y our butt:)
Good Luck!!!
Mahru: What was your original weight? If you have a plateau then it is harder to lose weight. I have been trying for such a long time. And I think it matters about your age too.
weightwatchers online.. i atill have a lil to go plus i try incorporating salads n fruits n cheese lol in my everyday meals... Ive cut down on curry cuz i cant cut down on rice n i try walking quite briskly lol on the treadmill everyday for 40 mins.
I lost 30lbs in 2 months last summer by just doing this simple thing.
Stayed up all night woke up at 2 in the afternoon.
Got someboneless chicken(about 400gms),baked it in the oven covered with a mixture of low fat yogurt and some spices and soya sauce.I also put in alot of vegetables with it such as corn, tomatoes, onions and the lot.Baked it for about 45 mins.Damn it tasted good.
Then in the evening I worked out mainly Cardio.Followed by a half an hour shower.
And in the evening and through the night I lived on fruits and repeat cycle.
I didnt want to lose weight…I just did automatically…
the only thing that I did was not have breakfast cuz I didnt have time for it anymore
so I have 2 meals a day and it did it for me
otherwise I dont exercise etc…and all my friends are shocked how i can be slim and yet not exercise much. although I do keep active during the day…cuz i cant sit in one place for long
My origianl weight was 135 and now it is 120. No, I am not on Atkins. It is a mixture of south beach diet and my own. No one is old enough to lose weight. I am 27. If you exercise and eat healthy even if you are 50 your metabolism will get in high gear. Key is eat less 500 calories and burn more 500 calories in a day.
Someone also said about skipping bfast and i think that is the most damaging mistake you are making for your body and mind. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You know what they say For breakfast eat like a king, for lunch eat like a queen and for dinner eat like a pauper. My routine is I don't put anything except milk or water in my mouth after 7 pm. This is when your body stores the most fat and burns less because you tend to less active.
Do whateve works for you but just do it in a healthy manner.
one more thing don't expect results overnight. I took a health psychology class which helped me understand this so much better. A person should be realistic with their weight lost. IF you want drastic results you may get them but end up in a very drastic situation later. i lost 15 pounds in 6 months because I was doing it gradually and slowy and now I have maintained it, Alhumdolillah!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Stop weighing yourself! Go according to how your clothes fit. I’ve seen your pictures and you definitely ARE losing weight. If you are lifting weights regularly, even if they are light, the scale will not show you a lighter number because muscle weighs four times more than fat. If anything, your actual physical number on the scale might go up.
I’m positive you have lost a dress size or two. That is what should matter! Your workout routine is making you stronger, leaner and more toned. Don’t forget this.
It will take a lot of time. I know you have been exercising for a while now … just keep at it. Don’t get obsessed by what the scale says though, it’s the worst thing you can do especially while exercising.
Mahru, what pyaari meant abt age was that as you get older, your metabolism naturally slows down. Even ppl who have regularly fast metabolism will still be fast compared to others but not as much as before. Mahru’s “diet” sounds the best: cut out teh carbs for a short time and reintroduce them lil by lil. You will deff lose weigh tfast but be careful not to cut em out for a long time because your skin won’t be able to keep up wiht the rapid weight loss if ur not doing any exercise. MY mother did that, adn she lost 60+ pounds in a yr by walking a lot, but her skin is very loose and she’s tried a lot of exercises to tighten it but nothing works.
Impulse, shush, stop showing off
Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t matter when you eat. You’re going to burn the same amount of calories or store hte same amt of fat whether it’s sunny or dark out. It’s the lifestyle; not eating after 7 PM is a good idea, if ur bedtime is 10 PM or earlier, but if your normal bedtime is 3 AM, some snacks at midnight won’t hurt Breakfast is definitely important but seriously not many ppl have time or are even hungry so early in the morning; then some of us are just too lazy to make breakfast at 12 PM
Mehnaz thanks for the support, yes my clothes are gettin looser but…I’m kind of stalled, for the amoutn I;m exercising the fat around my hip abs and back isn;t budging, it must be something to do with my food intake.
BTW..is low fat youghurt okay? Yes just plain low fat, no sugar or fruit nothing…just plain low fat youghurt.
P.S - I sooo love pizza once a week…just had some today…I’ll never learn
Losing weight is through exercise and sensible eating. It's not crash dieting or no carbs. It's a lifestyle change. Eating fruits, veggies, high fibre is a good start, but also get some protein and even some fat. I read somewhere that you need fat to burn fat...whatever that means? Not sure how true that is. But i'm currently 3 months post partum and I'm 95lbs. That should probably be the normal range for me but I'm not feeling right yet. So I'm still hoping to lose another 10lbs. With a 3month old and a 3 year old it's not that easy to just get out and exercise. I plan on doing crunches, yoga and hopefully some walking (when this heatwave passes.).
You can speed up your metabolism by increased activity and also having like 5 small meals a day and drinking lots of water to fill you up. I don't wear a bikini but I'm determined to get my bikini body back soon!
I have no idea about low fat yoghurt. I think any kind of yoghurt is good for you.
If you are worried about your tummy, love handles, just keep up the cardio and do lots of stomach crunches, various kinds to target all areas of your stomach and waist. Also, keep up with the cardio. You already said you can see a visible difference, just keep up with what you are doing.
Man…I just realized how unhealthy my diet is! I eat once a day -that too after I come home from work. I don’t eat ANYTHING, it just makes me not wanna work and go to bed. I work better on an empty stomach . I never had any problems with weight control either even though “being fat” runs in the family.
I don’t know how you guys can love eating so much. I’ve always been a KHANAY KI CHOR.
