need help regarding an outfit

Agreed with Estel and SK-L about that. I also think it takes away from the credibility of a business because there are fingers being pointed in every direction.

This dress isn't a bad copy at all...I think its fair? The only two things I noticed was that, the material in the copy dress looks to be a little shinier than the material used in the original pictures of the dress Ash is wearing. I also noticed that the top chest portion of the dress in the copy is a lot deeper than it is on the original. In the original, it seems to sit just above where Ash's chest starts and in the copy it seems to be coming under the full bust... thats all that I can see that would bother me if I had ordered this dress...but I mean, even as a buyer I would not expect a close copy of a dress like this to be the EXACTLY the same unless it was coming from the original designer them self. The job is done good enough and it could of been A LOT worse. You can not expect someone elses eyes to see what you see unless they have the fabric in their hands. Pictures are a guide only and I think when purchasing anything online you have to be a little open minded about that other wise, the purchase should be made from the designer himself...

This dress seems to be one of those that would be difficult to imitate because of the very minor aspects that would make a big difference like the funny colored panels and puffiness in weird places....
Color wise, its very very close, maybe its the fabric that she has a major problem with that maybe you can have changed? Or maybe you already offered to have it changed? Maybe you should of taken picture proof of the fabric that you will be using and maybe could have showed it to her before assuming she would like it? I think this was all just a big misunderstanding in communication and I guess both parties can take something out of it as a lesson. Mainly to be very very precise in telling the designer what you want and in explaining to the buyer what you will be using...

In all fairness, I think the copy is a job well done but if she is so unhappy with it, maybe you can offer to have it remade? Or give her an exchange of a dress if she is open to it?

But if both of you are completely tired of dealing with each other than help both of yourselves in the situation by posting a thread and advertising the dress.

I don't know, I'm not on anyone's side more over the other and I'm not a customer either...just my two-cents and just trying to help...if I liked the dress I would of bought it because I am in DIRE need of outfits for my wedding and Jahez clothing but I really don't like this dress, the original or the copy. Sorry..

I think the real question and cause for concern at this point for both parties is...

Who wants to buy this dress??????

Re: need help regarding an outfit

The dress ash is wearing is absoultly grougeous & elegant:shikra: . Just my opinion not to offend anyone though but it is a very pathetic copy & actually a lot of a differences are pretty much clear :nono1:Soemthign about the panels tdon’t look neat atall feels like all the colors are forced intogoether. Lol I wouldn’t even wear this copied dress if it were given to me for free…:help: Just my 2 cents. But it is a very unprofessional of the deginers tobring in personal informatino into forum. With a number of people supporting this dress I am sure someone will buy it, as their level choice matches. :smack2:

*@SK-L - *

Have you ever ordered from any of these websites? Coz half of those websites sell original dresses and NOT the “Copied” one. If you think it’s a copied one, I should tell you they do a very good job!

Proto is one of the home based designers who “copies” dresses and I didn’t force her to make the exact copy. I asked her weather she can make an exact copy giving her all the specifications about the materials, panels, borders etc. I understand there can’t be a “100% EXACT COPY” but when ppl order such kind of a dresses they at least expect 85 – 90 % of accuracy. IF she was incapable of what I wanted she could have told me before hand that she can only make an “ACCEPTABLE COPY”!

No need to provide the actual dress because with all those 15 PICTURES it is VERY obvious what materials have been used.

Don’t tell me how awesome Proto is, coz I was always nice to her, never rude and respected her and she didn’t even care to respect my privacy and has such unethical business practices. All the fabrics are obvious; the colors are obvious I even gave her the colors separately BUT she added an additional peach color with the panels that are so broad and doesn’t have ANY definition to it. There is NO KAAM in this picture so that is out of question.

You don’t have to worry about my fit weather it will fit me or not or how it will fit me. I know what fits me and i don’t need a stylist to unsure everything is perfect.

P.S – I think you should read my replies on Page 2 coz you seem to be completely unaware of what’s going on.

@SanaZaidi -

It’s funny how people are okay and don’t find the difference of the ugly looking panels and colors. Is it so difficult to understand what the Shiny material on the top is? Even a person like me who is not much familiar in this field knows that the top part of this is BROCADE.

EXACTLY, that’s what I am saying that when I asked her about this dress why didn’t she tell me she can’t make a exact copy when she knew what I wanted. I have seen her previous work in which she has done some wonderful copies and I was very impressed coz they were almost very exact. I know this a total different kind of dress but she should know better if she will be able to keep her words or not. Therefore, I know close copies CAN be Made of any dress! **Not necessarily coming from the original designer. **I am the one who ordered this dress and paid for it and my opinion matters the most. According to me this dress is not a very good job it could have been made A LOT BETTER with a little more dedication. I am fedup about how some people can’t make out what fabric she is wearing especially the ones expert at this field because it is so obvious! I am surprised.

BROCADE is not a material that can be mixed up with a tissue, cotton, faux or any such fabrics. It has its own chacrteristics and is a very obvious material. It is not necessary for a person to touch this material to know it is Brocade and especially in this case.

I am VERY open minded but not to such an extent that the dress is completely off. Where did the puffiness come from? What puffiness? Anyways. Those funny colored panels are actually called Style… but something that maybe you like would be a funny choice for me. Therefore, DIFFERENT ppl have different taste and THIS copy might be acceptable for some but this is a very unacceptable dress for me.

I was extremely precise on what I wanted to the designer.

Yes, Proto did bother to offer me changes on the dress AFTER all the humiliations and accusation she has blamed on me on a public forum. Would you buy a dress after the person you are doing a business with who accuses you of making up stories, dragging my family into a public forum intentionally to make her self look innocent and firstly being extremely reluctant on making any changes. IF yes you would have still bought it then sorry I can’t coz I have self respect!

P.S – I think you should read my replies on Page 2 coz even you seem to be completely unaware of what’s going on.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

khushif - I don't really want to get involved in this but I have a question that I need to ask as it's been bugging me as an observer.

Can you point out in which picture it "clearly" looks like the top part is brocade? I can see the sleeves are a banarsi type material but I can't make out in any of the pictures what the top part is and I have a very good eye for fabrics.

Lastly, for anyone else reading, please be aware that there will be discrepencies in fabric when copying an indian design. A lot of indian designs are purely about thte fabric and as such I'm sure the designers have them made or procure them especially. Especially, if they are printed or woven. They are not the kind that you can just pick up anywhere.
In Pakistan, you can't even get the kind of chiffon that was available 10 years ago, let alone a lot of more fancy fabrics.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

it is a well made copy !one need to keep that in mind while ordering copies that they can not be 100% same becz same material n laces cant be available ... if you wants an exact copy then get it from orignial desginer .

and someone who said it's worth 5000 , I ll suggest you to make a trip to pakistan and get a dress made like this in 5000 , aqal aa jaee'y gi .

Re: need help regarding an outfit

proto...I think in original dress, Katan silk type material used underneath shaifoon. And your lining is not like original and your dying colour is also not very fresh or same like original...thats why she is not accepting dress. It should be worth not more than 10,000rs.If you made it so costly, its also your mistake you choose such an expensive fabric for such a simple dress.

But the way you dress up boost the cost of dress and beauty so she should try this beautifull dress.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

Someone in FB is selling it as

"Its a chiffon georgette and jamawar peshwas, with jamawar churidar , chiffon dupata with jamawar edging worth ...°

Re: need help regarding an outfit

Thank you everyone for all your time and input.

for those who consider it being overpriced, I have already given the breakdowns for the fabric, laces,,banarsi, stitching, etc. Kindly confirm the current rates for blue-card dull chiffon, pure banarsi with close dots (used in sleeves and bottom ghair), the lace (indian version, not the local one ; i can provide with closer pics for more accuracy) , the dyeing charges for 'water-shading' over 25 panels separately, the tissue i used in place of the 'obviously visible in the pics' brocade AND if still needed, i can provide the contact numbers of the tailors i use. I hope that would be enough to satisfy your doubts about the price.

khushif: I really dont want to continue with any explanations beyond this point just to respond to your 'complaints for the sake of complaining'. you didnt like the outfit, OK, I offered you for the changes you wished were there regarding the fabric and shades, but you straight away wanted a refund without listening to or discussing it. about 'disrupting your privacy' all i have done is explaining that you said your family didnt like it. For me, disrupting policy usually includes disclosing real names, email addresses, contact numbers, quoting emails and dates (which you did do),putting up pictures despite someone requesting not to, and so on..still I am sorry if you felt so, let aside you calling me blind and all..you are at an age of respect for me, so I wont reciprocate. I have been really disturbed at the entire issue as well. I will be refunding your money with some fraction taken as I said earlier as soon as it is sold out.

with this final note, I am out of this thread.

Thanks and best of luck everyone :)

Re: need help regarding an outfit

so i think the moral of the story is thst customers shuould not expect a 100 % copy of a designer suit, its better to look at clothes that these people have originally made and order thst. i have yet to see a carbon copy of a original, there are always differences. and i think home designers should make it very clear to customers that its not possible to make a ditto copy, just not possible to copy colour, cut and overall look to the tee.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

I highly doubt if the original designers can make a carbon copy of their own work after certain pieces unless they scientifically clone the outfit to make copies. It is all handworked tailoring and Dyeing. Also, the customers should know that if they are paying 20k for a copy of a dress that originally costs 80k with the designer, there has to be a reason and difference in work to a certain percentage atleast which should be acceptable. Major differences and dislikes can always be sorted IF the designer is willing AND the customer is genuinely interested and understands.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

^ exactly, these things must be discussed beforehand to avoid any complications.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

@Proto - Well, its simple, if you had any answers only then you could have answered me. Dear, there’s a big difference between explaining that “my family doesn’t like it” and saying “as her 'family' doesn’t think this is good enough to wear for her”, if you understand what I mean. Anyone well versed in English, would know that u r saying *Because **my family didn’t like it I refused to take the dress. You should have never brought my family in here, as I can still quote the email that I sent you which said *“clearly” *that it’s *me who doesn’t like the dress. Anyways, if u didn’t understand I m sure others have by now that you made my family a victim.

You pointed me twice that I have quoted the price wrong. And when I wrote your exact wordings here, there was no apologies for blaming me of hiking those prices, and very nicely you wrote*, kindly I should check my mail*. Wow, proto. I understand this could be a mistake on ur part but how abt blaming me again for making up stories (without knowing the truth or may be to hide your faults), when what I have mentioned abt this dress is a hard fact! No apologies for that as well! Even if the customer is paying 20 K for the dress then the quality should also LOOK like 20 K. Too bad you are not good at making certain type of dress, its about time you accept it instead of making up stories about your customers.

Lastly, you straight away said, no, changes cant be done on this dress twice as I want them to be, and then decided to go to the forum and after all this blunder, you ask me that NOW you are willing to make the changes? And still u think I had** no reason for refusing this dress.**

Stoppit –My Pleasure! The pictures I have posted here it’s clearly visible in
2nd, 5th, 6th and the last. I am not sure if the pictures I posted can be zoomed in or not by others, doesn’t seem to work for me, not sure how I should have uploaded to make them zoom in… Also, here’s something that you missed out!

“As for the pictures, mind you, it wasn’t distant. I am posting all those pictures that I sent you (which were much clearer than these and maximized) and it was very obvious.”

So, yeah, I send Proto, not only these pictures but a link to these pics which had all these pics and more of large size, which makes this material more visible in the other pics on that link. Also, I cant make out in any of the pics that it’s a tissue fabrics, especially after seeing so many pics, definitely not a tissue fabric even though I don’t have a very good eye on fabrics like all you home-based designers do ;-).

For someone who said that same materials can’t be available, I highly doubt that sentence! Oh and yes, I so wish I can order this dress from him itself, but their website seem to have some prob or probably it isn’t working or something... Doesn’t let me sign up or shop online L... Only shows the collection… Otherwise I would have directly ordered from the Manish Malhotra to get that dress for myself!!!

So, finally you realized after all this disrespect and humiliating me that I am at an age of respect for you. Since the time I asked you to make changes in the dress your behaviour was rude to me and even in all my posts on the forum I was very patient but eventually after seeing your constant accusations on me I called you blind as you can’t see a material clearly. I HAD TO quote the emails because you were constantly lying on this public forum about the price and my requirements so no wonder you had no replies to my questions and you had a problem with me quoting your email publicly.

Fine! I will be waiting for my money BUT it seems like you are not even interested in selling the dress or sending me my refund back! After all you are the one right now who is enjoying this profit with both the dress and the money. I suggest you make a new thread and try to sell it or at least add it in your “some of my work…” thread. Anyhow, I can guarantee that you won’t send me my money back by seeing all the “efforts” you have made to sell it. However, I hope you realise what you are doing…

I have learnt a lesson hard way, but would advice all the gs home based designer to not give false hopes to the customers if they are not really sure whether they can live it up to the expectations of the customer or not. These things should be made clear in the very 1st conversations.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

There are better pictures of the outfit where you can see the fabric more clearly. I can post them here if anyone wants the to make a comparison.

Re: need help regarding an outfit

Thanks for the picture mahismart. This is the link I was sent for the pictures: http://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/event/ashwarya-and-abhishek-tribute-kaifi-azmi-mijwan

there are two closer pictures of the outfit as well where still BROCADE is not clear.

Anyways, khushif: I hate quoting emails but this is what you said about the dress after seeing the pictures:

''I am really happy, surprised and excited to see my dress almost there!!! and MaashAllah, you and your co workers have done a great job on my dress! Cant beleive that you copied the dress to such a great extent! Now i know where to go, if i want any good dresses. Thanks. ‘’

followed by this a couple of days later:

''I have rethought about the whole dress, and also showed it to everyone at home, but i didn’t get many positive reviews. Seeing the dress again, i don’t think its exactly what i expected for, at least i cant wear it at any functions :(. Sorry Ayesha, but i don’t want the dress, pls i would like a refund for this dress coz i really dont think its so good that i will be able to wear it at any functions at all. ‘’

anyways, I have emailed you asking about your account info for money transfer.

AND about money transfer, it is NOT after your recent posts. I planned to do it earlier this week but I was busy with some family affairs for past few days. Send me the account info and I will give you details regarding the transfer right away.

I guess we are done with it now. Hope you find a better dress that you are happy to wear on your daughter’s wedding IA. Best of Luck.
