I am going to purchase this GPS device. Has anyone used it or used a similar product (features wise) or have comments/recommendations? I am getting it for half price $124USD.

Nobody uses GPS ??? ![]()
Re: Need help on GPS device
I use the TomTom software on my smart-phone and love it. Although i haven’t personally used that specific device (TomTom one, 3rd edition) I’ve heard all good things about it. The unit is available on buy.com for $159.99 (there’re reviews about it at the bottom):
Promo Codes, Coupons & Cash Back | Rakuten
Where are you getting it for $125? Used or new?
Re: Need help on GPS device
New. From a relative who works for a retailer. Thanks for your input.
Re: Need help on GPS device
Cool, get me one too, pretty please :)
Re: Need help on GPS device
Sure if I could. They have a form given to each employee for this special promotion for a month. But one unit for one person only. So he is getting it under his name, and will give it to me once it is delivered.
Re: Need help on GPS device
I have heard good things about TomTom. Several years ago, I had bought a Garmin unit and it worked pretty well. Still works, but we don't use it any more since both our cars have factory-installed GPS now. But one thing I gotta say. Some people think GPS is just a luxury. Once you start using GPS, you ask yourself, why didn't I get it before. Its just so useful.
Re: Need help on GPS device
^^ I totally agree. I have GPS in my smart phone and its so convenient whenever I'm in a new area. But only if you have the proper maps installed. Once I was in PA and got lost, only to realize I didn't have the PA map on. :)
Re: Need help on GPS device
i Have the exact same, it is the best one here
Very clear and concise
Highly reccomended
Re: Need help on GPS device
Used Pioneer AVIC , pretty nice one. TomTom is also good, though TOmTom 2 is the better option with larger screen.
Re: Need help on GPS device
I got it and love its clarity and accuracy.
Thanks guys who provided feedback.

how accurate is it?? 6-12 meters?
I mean how could u use a gps receiver for running unless you are going to run for like 12 km on a straight road. I tried using it my skates on complete useless thing.
I could really be helpful for hiking and stuff. but those people market it for runners.
Re: Need help on GPS device
This product is for car only, I believe. It is accurate in >10m which is more than enough for a person like me who Alhamdollillah never needs directions. It was a fazool purchase for me, but the deal was mouthwatering and I couldn't resist.

Exactly, that's why guys never need to stop and ask for directions :)
Re: Need help on GPS device
I dont believe in GPS, but although I do use it in the desert, I think we should know this for a fact, that the world was discovered without GPS. I have this habit of memorizing every place I go, I visited Singapore, & other countries, & all I needed was a map, that is all, then the rest is your imagination, & how fast you can figure out the shortest route to a destination.
Re: Need help on GPS device
I use a tomtom 910 and think it's the best invention since sliced bread :D
Re: Need help on GPS device
Well i can recommend it as a friend of mine is using it without any troubles
Be it TomTom, Navigon or other Navigation systems, most of them use Digitized Maps from Tele Atlas which r pretty upto date.
I BTW use the HTC Trinity with TomTom installed on a miniSD card. Been around Europe (Germany, Holland, Belgium, France and Britain). Very nice and helpful thing :D
Re: Need help on GPS device
i have a garmin nuvi unit and previously have also used another one from garmin and they have worked ite nicely..
tom tom is also a good brand and with that price its even better..i believe they have a 1 yr warranty so make sure you check out the unit as much as you can in the first 15 days atleast...
my first garmin unit crapped out on me after about 1 yr (it would get stuck on waiting satellites: will not track/lock) i was in canada when this happened and luckily it happened when i was outside circuity city. i got another unit from them (garmin nuvi) and that did the same !!!! so i got another one and it has been working okay so far....
Re: Need help on GPS device
Well everyone speaks of Tom Tom, has no one ever tried Navigon? Nothing beats this, especially when buying with extra feature (TMC). Although It's just a bit slower with the synchronization of GPS Sat. It is far better and stable software.
Re: Need help on GPS device
I friend on mine had issues after he upgraded his TomTom unit and he tells me that their customer service is the WORST. It took them 6 months to replace a faulty unit that was under warranty.
