Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Sara, we're not trying to scare you from marriage. Every mil is different. Mine has eased up alot and is now confident in me being a good mother. In the beginning she had her issues. I feel that if you treat someone respectfully and handle a situation with grace then people give you respect back. Don't worry that you'll be fighting with your future husband's mom all the time. Cause it probably won't happen.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Isn't breastfeeding a two year old a bit too old? I wud think u'd stop at around age one.
If ur covering ur breast when breastfeeding (like with a shawl, scarf etc.) then i think it's okay to do it in public...but i wud never do it openly where ppl can SEE wot's going on...even though breastfeeding is normal and natural, i think it shud definately be done in private whenever possible.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
^hahahaha
thats what everyone says.
Wait till you have a screaming baby in your hands and you are in a public place
I'll hafta wait for that maybe for a while but I know what you are going to do. :)
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
^ Well yea, in that case i wud have to...that's y i said whenever possible...i guess i will be carrying around a shawl then :)
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Sara dont worry yaar. Saima is right every mother in law is different. Well, mine really loves babies, and wouldnt let me hold mine and wanted to bottle feed him all the time by herslef. The times are frustrating but u see u have to respect the elders. I never said anythign to her.
U have to compromise a lot when u get married, and u live in joint family. Ever since we moved out, I never had any bad experiences with her.
BTW has anyone ever tried PANJEERI??? I have heard its really good for u, after u give birth, makes u strong from inside and helps in producing milk too.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Panjeeri is so yuummy i ahd it i dunno what it did but it was a ritual i ahd to do 4 the sake of my mum, that n drinking yakhni all the time!!!!!!!!!1
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
I know men are not supposed to post here, but behnji, a towell soaked in hot water and applied to breasts works wonders in starting milk flow. Have had three bachchays and bibi had no problem with milk flow due to this trick.

Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
saima, actually it was my own mom who told me to stop breastfeeding her as she is suffering!! and doesnt get feed properly but she breastfeeded me for 2 whole years, I did got some pressure to stop feeding, that she is getting ache from my milk but I didnt let any pressure to get me to stop nursing and giving her formular, as I know best what is good for my child, now my mom actually praises me for not giving up .. she is a lot better now, I nurse her mostly and give her the bottle twice a day, with fennel tea and formular as my supply doesnt feed her fully plus I need a break during day, as to get in form again for the night section of nursing .. Saima my baby also sleeps face down on my stomach, which helps her pain and then when she is sleep, I lay her down beside me and then I too can sleep.
Afia u gave some good suggestions, I give her a massage, but should do so more often.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Agree - this is a great way to get the milk flowing. And watch out for hot showers when your milk is coming in - yuck. Also, this sounds really odd, but a couple of frozen cabbage leaves inside your bra when your milk is coming in really helps with the pain of engorgement. They are just the right size and work much better than an ice pack. Good luck, and remember it's natural - also, do not to let the nurses give bottles in the nursery. (MOST) Babies aren't born hungry, and it takes them a day or two to develop an appetite. In most cases they'll latch on better if they aren't given a bottle.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
snickers glad you found this good old thread. I learned from this and my own experience as well. if you want to breastfeed only, then do not give bottle to the baby at all. As that way your milk supply will reduce. I was soooo tired after child birth and breastfeeding took so much of my energy that I would just give him bottle and assumed that next time I will breastfeed. I did breastfeed for a while but for me it wasn’t nothing more than frustration and lack of energy. ![]()
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
I got a few questions:
Do mothers ever run out of milk during the weaning stage?
How exactly do women lactate?
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Sadiyah, there's alot of really great websites to answer all your questions in detail. But yes, women do greatly reduce the amount of milk they produce during weaning. The less you feed, the less you produce. It's supply and demand.
I suggest www.breastfeeding.com to answer any questions. Not trying to advertise.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
I am breastfeeding my baby girl and she is almost 5 months old. The beginning was hard as I didnt have enough milk and she would still be hungry, I gave her the bottle before going to sleep in the night, so that I could get some hours of sleep before she would be awake again, but after a month the milk became more and she would be fully feed from my milk so that I stopped giving her the bottle. She is still being breastfeeded and now I have also introduced soiled food. I tried the electric pump but it was a haste, and too much to clean @sterlise before and after pumping.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
I did not find breastfeeding that painful...engorgement aches but it's not that offten and decreses. Actually, i find it much easier than using bottles, having to prepare, clean, warm..the Breastmilk is always ready and the right temp :)
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
SAdiya,
I went to a lactation group in NYC...it was very interesting..if you put the baby on your breast and allow to suck it stimulates milk productin, if you are worried about supply you just feed the baby more times on the breast..and then give a bottle after they've sucked for a bit...there is a hormone realised with delivery that helps lactation but there are stories of women who did not deliver/adoptive mothers who suddenly began to have milk ...
Anyhow, breast milk is/can be effected by what you eat/how much you drink water/coffee/illness etc. so you in the beginning 3-4 months you really want to be careful to make sure you build up your supply and establish it...after that the body adjusts to whatever the baby needs...
From my understanding that during weaning the body responds/adjusts but i'm not sure.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
As saima said, yes they do reduce the amoutn of milk during weaning stage..
It has to do couple neuronal hormones present in the pituitary gland.
Prolactic started to produce in a pregnant woman and Oxytocin basically cause the release of milk in response to the stimualtion on the nipple. I hope thats what you were asking for … ![]()
oh I think you were asking something else
oh well I justknew this part ![]()
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
i fed both my babies till 2 years and they cried so much almost a week 10 days , after i unlatched them, but feeding your baby is definetly one of the most beautiful moments of your life, i mean a mum's life, just the mum and the baby
i love my babies toooooooooo much
try avent pumps also , pretty good
