Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
^^ short and sweet, my kind of lady, lol
Mem said it all
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Come on girls it doesnt work that way. Even I know that much, you need to squeeze some milk into the infants mouth the first time and place his mouth on the right spot the first time for the infant to suck. I clearly remember that, LOL cause I was like wow wtf how come he doesnt drink milk. Then came the milking lady ( I dont know the title, they all have titles) and she explained what needed to be done.
Mem using your idea you will starve the kid. Sucking milk is not innate it is a learnt behaviour.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
^^ Veri - its the first human instinct - a new born baby merely 2 seconds into this world.. can start sucking.. perfecting the technique or latching a baby on is a different matter.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Verizon, my kids had no problem and I never had to preform an introduction to milk for my kids.
Maybe yours are a bit more demanding (believeable, very believeable :) )

Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Am I the only person who finds this whole breastfeeding idea entirely repulsive??
ugh ugh ugh. ....
I hated the idea, they said try it you'll get used to it, I tried and still hated it.
I dont like being touched by strange creatures in strange areas.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
To a degree I agree with you regarding my kids being demanding, they are (why would a 3 yr old need my laptop, his response “Dada I need it, I have to work”) But sucking is not innate it is a learnt behaviour. I was surprised at this discovery when we had our first one. Unless the milker was kidding with us, but I doubt it.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
well you're both right to a degree. sucking is instinctive, recognizing hunger and developing the desire to eat and learning how to latch on properly are learned behaviors.
our eldest learned that eating made him hurt and feel sick due to undiagnosed reflux (idiot docs). Whenever you have troubles with a little one who's having trouble eating or when Mom has discomfort thats out of the ordinary, NEVER let the docs make you feel you're doing something wrong! Find out whats causing the trouble and if your docs arent listening to you, fire their sorry ass and find a different doc.
ok i feel better now!
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Verizon, do you mean lactation consultant? I like the term milker too, that's cool. I agree with you in some sense that a baby does need to smell and taste the milk first. Also getting the baby to open their mouth wide by touching the top lip helps with a getting a good latch on. But sucking is an instinctive behaviour that the baby has been doing in utero. But breastfeeding is something that takes some practice and work for both baby and mom.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
^^ LOL yeah that was her profession "Lactation Consultant". Everybody is a consultant. The shoe-shine guy (pronounced palshi)that comes to poish my shoes at work is a consultant as well. It either Shoe Leather Subject matter expert (SLSME) or Shoe Shine Consultant.
If the milker is an employee of the hospital then what would be her title?
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Hi gals !!
I took back this tread to get some more information on breastfeeding .. I need to know which food to avoid and which food I should take to produce more milk as my little one doesnt allways get fully feed by nursing .. Also she cries and sometimes has stomach ache after gettning nursed .. I have noticed I tried this nursingtea and it gave her problems, I took fruit tea and she cried in the night ..
So I am not so experienced in this, I dont want to experiment a lot, so which food is to be avoided when breastfeeding ?
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
avoid any kind of foods that cause gas. I made the horrible mistake of eating turnips and cabbage right after my first boy was born. I had such a craving for these things. I ate lots and caused severe gas pains and constipation in my poor little man! So best is bland foods, introduce spicy foods very slowly. And a good variety of foods, esp fruits and veggies.
You dont eat to produce more milk, the amounts you produce depend completely on how much the baby takes. When the baby starts drinking more, you automatically produce more. If the baby doesnt eat much, you start producing less. This is the reason that the breast pumps arent always a good idea, you'll start producing too much.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
The more liquids u drink inluding a whole lot of milk, more milk u produce.
And i read somewhere that eating grapes and fish also helps in producing milk.
I breastfed my son till he was one, mostly at night… Cuz my M-i-L told me to give him more of bottle milk. she was totally imaptient with me not being able to produce milk on the 2nd day after his birth. She used to insult me infront of people that i am not able to produce enuf milk to fill my child’s tummy ![]()
Once the kids like sucking on nipples they dont take urs anymore, I tried pumping and giving him in a bottle, but she said no. As I didnt have my mother around to tell me what was right and what was wrong, i thought what my MIL was telling me was right.
But now I think i am going to totally breastfeed my other one.
There’s one other totka i’ve heard that u give zeeray ka tarka in desighee to milk . I dont know if that works or not, i thought it was too yucky to try.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
i always wondered if breast pumps trigger some un-intentional harmonal excitement? no long explanation is needed... just a yes or no answer will do.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
lollyman, no it doesnt.
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Un fortunately both my kids never latched on.
so my first i just exressed non stop for 1 month determined to get goodness into her!
i jst used the AVENT hand pump but bcoz i was pumping alll the time my wrist kept seizing!!! but taht was only bcoz i sat all day expressing…
but it was a good pump…esp if u won’t be expresing all the time!!!11
2nd child didn’t even bother breastfeeding coz ceasarian pain wouldn’t allow me 2:mad:
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Saadia....as mama said, avoid gas producing food...like cabbage, cauliflower n even chanay etc.
drink a lot....n one thing i know from experience ......try to eat bhuna hua zeera...if you can't eat raw sprinkle over some food or mix in milk
gas or pain in tummy isn't the only reason for crying ....she can cry if she's hungry or needs a diaper change or may be its only that she doesn't feel comfy n wants to be secure like in your arms......check if baby's tummy is not soft when u press or it seems larger n hard then its gas.....try to massage on tummy with a lil oil (baby oil or olive oil) on your fingers in clockwise movement afterwards lift both feet n press her legs against tummy (bending on her knees) hopefully this will help if i make any sense
you can also take her to kinderklinik ....a nurse there actually showed me how to do this massage ....plus i think they have some herbal drops for this too .
hope it helps :)
Re: NEED BREASTFEEDING TIPS(women only plz)
Sadaf, your experience with your mil sounds exactly like me when my first daughter was born. It was hard enough having no experience with nursing but then feeling so guilty about it. My daughter was having alot of colic and gassy pain which my mil attributed to breastmilk. But it turned out she had a cow milk allergy due to the formula. I totally stopped the formula at 1 month and strictly nursed her. It was such a dramatic improvement. she stopped screaming and contorting her body. She actually slept. I actually slept. I was glad that I had still breastfed and formula was only given to her when my mil sent me out of the house so she could bottle feed her. That was a strange situation.
But while I breastfed I stopped drinking milk for a while and only had soy milk. I stopped eating brocolli or other gassy foods. These didn't make a significant improvement for her. But I did baby massage and that helped to move the gas out. I think alot of the pain babies experience is due to the fact that their intestines are not fully formed in the early months. My second daughter only fussed before a bowel movement. There were a few nights that she could only sleep face down on my chest. Then the next morning her diaper was overflowing. They grow out of this stage in a few months By month 3 or 4 it's so much easier.
