NCC - A walk down the memory lane

NCC or National Cadet Corps was a program in Intermediate (High School) in pakistan back in the days when I had graduated from the Intermediate/High School…

Few years Back I learned that the program is no longer offered. I am not sure why, but it was one heck of an outing of its own kind…

Basically, it was a 20 days (40 days for two years) Military training, completion of which then was counted as 20 marks in the final marks of the intermediate.

We used to dress like an army personell and gather in a ground under the supervision of few Army officiers… We were divided in different Platoons with a platoon leader leading the March Past.

It used to be a tough job under the firing sun running, crawling, doing push-ups, climbing trees using ropes and what not?

Some of the mama-boys were not allowed to take NCC by their mommies because that would have resulted in their chaand saa beTaa to become Kalaa kaloTaa :lb:

I have so many stories to share about those days…

One of them I recall.. the very first day we were introduced about the semi automatic american made riffel that we were going to learn about and use it on the last day when we had visited a firing range (Korangi Creek area) …

So, the instructor went some thing like:

**This is amrikan riffel semi automatak KAALIBAAR paaaint zero 4 naat zero **

We were like, what the heck is KAALIBAAR… turned out at the end of the day after much research that it was actually Caliber :bummer:

Anyone of you have had the experience of NCC… … Please share

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

uffff...........................kia yaad dila dia

Please share :chai:

those soldiers ( whatsoever their ranks / titles were) and than their boss that nasty major were a bunch of crap and flirt … i could only cringe

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

Well I just did two days in first year then never bothered .. Although I have a passion for ammunition ……. But For me it was too much hassle for 20 marks and for me mah it wasn’t too posh either …..

Btw I envied me mates .. who had fun on that final passing day …. When they took them to superhighway for shooting …

I want to read a bit more please :chai:

mama’s boy :clown:

by the way, the first year, we went to super highway place in the Military Truck and the next year to Korangi Creek…

The first year, they let us fire 8 bullets and the next year only five… although for both years, we had no idea where the bullets were hitting

same here

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

I did mine from St. Pats and they had us and girls at the same time. Its was quite fun and it was even more fun when girls were firing guns at the range. I remember this one time I think it was the first day of out 2nd year and all of us got onto this bus (I think it was 2B) and the conductor wouldnt let us pay saying we dont charge pak fauj.

LOL…

In our case, those conductors were so damn smart :bummer: They knew we were only NCC students :teary3:

There was this paThaan fauji in the instructors team who used to take roll calls…

so he used to go like:

“Roll number 58, 59, SEXTY, SEXTY ONE, SEXTY TWO …”

while, he used to be busy in looking at the attendence register, all of us used to be bowing down head going “khe khe khe khe” :cb:

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

we use rifle M1 for firing. and it was 40 days for us as we were overseas students. we stayed in hostel and enjoyed a lot.

one of our sir was pathan and he was very strict. girls use to make fun of him. kuen k garmi ki waja say he became red like tomato :P.

on our last day we put ice in his cap :P.

we went to kahoota for firing. with ambulance :P.

also we sang the song "humain to loot liya mil k army walooN nay, kali kali moochooN nay lambi lambi tangooN nay "

I think that was it:D

:rotfl:

shaitaan khopRi inn laRkiouN kee :smack:

:omg:

BWAHAHAHHAHHAAHAHHAAH

that was hilarious :lifey:

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

i did mine in 94 and i went to isb center. those were the days. we had lots of fun.

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

one day one of the girl saw some one trying to see inside the room from window so she left the hostel. all the girls were scared after that incident. one of my friend was like we should have something for our safety. and we decide to hide knife under our pillow. one of the girl she said i am not scared and i’ll hide this under my pillow.

the same night one of the friend was sleeping, or us k ooper koi insect charh gaya, i think that was mosquito. us nay cheekh mari or baqi sab larkiyaan samjheen k koi banda room main aa gaya hai :p. sab room say bahir bhaag gayeen. and u know who was the first one to run :omg: the one who said i am not scared at all :p. and she was shouting from outside " meray takiyay k neechay say churi to nikal lo" :omg:

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

Ours was the last NCC batch.. If my memory serves me correctly, the weapon we used was a locally produced G3 variant.

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

those were good old days..i did it in 99 and from what i remember that was the last year for NCC...i believe they discontinued due to lack of funding.

i don't remember that much probably cause it was a while ago but have quite a few pics from when we were doing NCC. i think we had half day or something for classes and then it would be NCC. it was FUN.

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

I went to PAF college and we did NCC training for a lot longer than 20 days a year, it was several months. aside from army hawaldars we had airforce people in our training. and they royally kicked our collective arses day in day out.

I recall one day I was late for the training and was running as one of the trainers stood at the edge of the training field. I ran by, he had raised a stick to hit my butt as I ran by, I got by him he swung, I jumped and pulled my knees up and teh stick barely scrapped by boots.

he yelled at me to come back, first he said, that was a great jump and he was impressed. then he told me to do a round of the training field daddoo chal. i.e. hopping like a frog...

I did mine from Abbottbad, those were really good old days. We had 3 platoons. Alpha bravo, Charlie. Those 40 days were amazing and we had lot of fun. I have so many stories to share abt those days.

There was one guy in our class. I think he was 4 feet .5 inches some thing like that. One day me and my friends were passing through abbottabad main bazaar, he was with us. I saw one girl was looking at him and she was telling to her mom, ammi ammi woh daykain chotah sah fojhi :CareBear: and they were laughing on chota sah fojhi. After words we used to call him “chota sah fojhi”

I thought they discontinued it in 1998. I could be wrong.

I don’t think lack of funding was the main reason. They must have felt that they no longer needed this huge reserve of cadets with rudimentary skills. Let’s say that the cost was high but the benefit was limited.

My neice (brother's daughter) attended this in 1994...and I reckon it carried some marks also.

Nevertheless, she is a great hunter now with a double barrel of her own... and with her hubby and young kids...she regularly goes for shoot of Murghabies, Partridges and Ducks at Kalri and other areas..during winter migration of the species from Russia to Kalri Lake...

Re: NCC - A walk down the memory lane

well..they did not need NCC because college students knew how to use more advanced weapons than the ancient rifles of NCC. Thanks to Jamiaat, NSF, PAMSO, PSF etc etc.

and yes, I am being very sarcastic.
