Lakers finally snap out of their grand funk and win a game Friday night vs Chicago Bulls as Shaq makes his season debut for the Lakers.

From LA Times

Season looks a little different now, as O'Neal scores 17 points and Lakers end three-game losing streak with a workmanlike victory over Bulls.
Shaquille O'Neal's dominance will have to wait. Their end-to-end game will have to wait. Their four-peat, on the shoulders of O'Neal and Kobe Bryant in particular, is a work, they hope, in progress.
For now, they were only too satisfied with a grinding 86-73 victory over the outmanned Chicago Bulls on Friday night at Staples Center, where O'Neal returned from toe surgery to play 21 minutes and score 17 points.

Lakers are 2nd to last in Pacific Division standings.

Lakers beat the Dallas Mavs: 105-103

The Lakers came back from a 27-point deficit at the start of the 4th quearter led by Kobe Bryant, who scored 21 of his 27 in the final 12 minutes – including a turnaround jumper to snap a 103-all tie with eight seconds remaining.
Michael Finley missed a 3-pointer with one second remaining for the Mavs, who have lost 24 consecutive games to the Lakers in Los Angeles over the last 12 years.

The Lakers, who trailed by as many as 30 but shot 16-for-18 in the fourth quarter, joined the Indiana Pacers as the only teams to beat Dallas this season.

The comeback from a 28-point halftime deficit was the second-largest second-half rally in league history, trailing only Utah’s comeback from a 34-point deficit against Denver on Nov. 29, 1996, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The victory tonight was the playoff calibre excellence reminiscent of Lakers 14-pt 4th quarter comeback vs. Portland in playoffs during their first championship year.

I would like some thoughts from all the Mav fans and Lakers bashers :smokin:
Oh and btw, the playoffs dont start until sometimes May 2003

Who cares!
1 game doesn't make a difference.
I think the Memphis Grizzelies have beaten Lakers twice this swason but it doesn't mean they are a better team.
Dallas is still the best team in the NBA.

^ i agree
i like mavs but i don't like watching thier games!
cuz most of go for 3-pointers. Steve nash,Dirk mowinski, micheal finley, lafraentz etc almost all of them r expert 3 pointers. i know that its the main reason they win but still....................:D

MAVERICKS...the best team....best 3 pointers...great game...had 30points lead against lakers but still lost by 2 points...
Great game between Magic and Nets....121-88 nets T-Mac didn't score that much against Kidd's men....

^
How do u suppose Magics to beat Nets. Kidd is wicked and fast not to mention. NJ have a wicked offence even though i think that their defence would need some help if they wanna beat MAVS or Lakers.

BTW, Houston have improved a hell lot since last season. Maybe because of Yao Ming.

Pacers fan here!!!!!!!!!!!

Lakers and Kings met for the third time this season. This time at Arco Arena where they eliminated the Kings last year on way to their 3rd NBA title in a row. It was a classic match as always, reminiscent of past playoff series intensity - I call it World War III :D

Bryant scored 38 points, O'Neal had 36 (including 12 of 13 free throws) as Lakers remind Kings and rest of NBA that road to championship has to go thru Los Angeles:
Lakers over Kings: 124 -113

In the words of the ESPN commentator: "Champions unless otherwise declared"

Laker guard Kobe Bryant goes up for the dunk against the Kings.

I expect a huge revival in Lakers team after the ALL Star break like they have done in the past 2 season.

NJ Nets all the way. Nets are 32-14 this year.

MAVERICKS!!!!

NBA All-Stars Game

West beast East: 155 - 145
For the first time in NBA's All-Star history, the game had double overtime. This was Michael Jordan's last All-Star game. And he remians the greatest ever to wear an NBA uniform. Jordan, who scored 20 pts also suprassed the record held by Kareem Abdul Jabbar for the most points scored in All-Star game.

Jordan almost pulled off a game winning shot at the end of regulation. He knocked in a 15-foot fadeaway jumper with 4.9 seconds to play in the first overtime to give the East a two-point lead, then watched teammate Jermaine O'Neal check Kobe Bryant into the West bench on a three-pointer, sending Bryant to the line to shoot three with :01 left. Kobe made 2 of 3 free throws and tied the game.

In the 2nd overtime, Kevin Gatrnett of West, dominated the game and ended up scored 37 pts all. He was also the MVP of All-Stars Game.

Kobe and Michael - A memorable moment.

5Abi,

You follow all the NBA games? :p

Yeah man, I saw the game on TNT. Wish it was in L.A but got reschedule as Rolling Stones conducted their concert for Global Warming in the Staples Center.

Eastern Conference were almost near the victory when one of the team member(don't remember his name) fouled as 1 sec in OT left. It was great to see All Star game going into second OT.

Michael Jordan played awesome.

Kobe Bryant of the Lakers becomes the youngest player ever in NBA to reach 10,000 points, as Robert Horry makes another game-winning shot, this time from 23 feet at buzzer to beat the Pacers, 97-95.

Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Shaq all reached 10,000 pts when they were 25 years of age.

Yep, Kobe Rocks.

Have you guys seen his figures? Man, I must say Lakers have come at the right moment. They have defeated Houston Rockets without Shaq despite of Yao.

Rightnow, Lakers are on 6 position, I guess

^
no offense or anything to yao's fan but It is a fact that he truly sucked.
not exactly the rookie of the year candidate.
the only reason that houston r in 9th position is cuz of steve "franchise" francis and posey.

in my opinion, houston shud have picked Amare stoudamaire instead yao... ic lots of potential in tht guy.
Kareem rush cudn't quite match nba standards. if u look at his pre-nba stats, u wud be surprised how good he was.

Tim Duncan and Jason Kidd at spot light.

SA Spurs are kickin’! They have beaten Lakers once, Kings twice and now Nets by 92-78. Who knows, they might end up in the playoffs.

Kobe elevates for his 10,000th career point.

That was a momnet for Kobe and his fans. Just brilliant :k:

Is it just me or also fact that Kobe seems to elevate a lot higher than Michael?
