NBA Playoffs 2005

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

Pacers suck. Pistons would murder them.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

I think that is exactly what the NBA is worried about. It would be interesting to see a 7 game series…if Indiana can advance to the next round. The Heat are just too much for anyone in the East to handle, so I don’t see the Pistons making the finals. However, the title will return to the Western Conference this year.

The Bulls sure do get a lot of birthday presents from the Wizards. I wonder when they will get around to giving Ben Gordon a birthday present. I bet he feels left out right now.

The Spurs have a little luck on their side with the schedule, as they had two days rest for Game 2 and will have another two for Game 3. If Manu and Duncan can heal up and recondition themselves successfully the Spurs will take this easily in 5.

By the way, this is the best Spurs team I've seen since 99 when the Admiral was a healthy defensive monster and still potent offensive threat. Rasho will still need to get healthy and play good minutes defensively at the 5 if the Spurs hope to rely on their defense to win games.

Memphis clamped down the perimeter and did a good job.

Gasol just showed how well he can play, this guy should be more consistent like this and maybe we would be discussing him along the Nowitskis, Duncans, Garnetts, O'Neals etc of the game.

But as also expected, Amare will not be facing a clogged lane so he dominated, he drew fouls and shot 50%. Amare already knows how to be a factor in a physical game... putting himself in the freethrow line. I can only assume he didn't want to foul out and cost Suns the game. Thats why he wasn't very aggressive in the 2nd half of the game in terms of defense. He had 3 early in the third I think.

Grizzlies played a really good game, but Suns pull through.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

NBA should add 2 more teams to the league and have 4 team divisions in each conference. the playoffs should be changed to be more like the NCAA tournament.

All teams would qualify for the playoffs.

each of the 4 division winners (city) would host the 1st round in a loser out game.

this would result in a semi-final 4 in each conference to be hosted by the top seed.

the two conference winners would face off in a best of 7 series.

any thoughts?

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

:nono: Detroit Pistons are still in the league, ya know

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

yea, NCAA is much more complicated, but it works out much smoother and it gives much more equal opportunity. The NBA is just based off of your luck of which teams you play in the beginning (good or bad)

Yep.

I think Charles Barkley made the great point(I don’t agree with him often) while discussing about East. Detriot has won it all with all pieces together whereas Heat has only Shaq who has played at the playoff high intensity.

Heat-Pistons will be a War for sure and that is why TNT will be broadcasting the conference final.

I bet no one will waste time on Hawks and Hornets 7-game series. :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

Detroit and Miami split their 4 games during the regular season. The playoffs are obviously different…and the only way the Pistons make the finals is to get past the Heat…something I don’t see happenning.

Interesting idea. Money will be the major factor which will not allow for such a change as both the owners and the Networks will likely be against it.
I think it would be good for the fans and actually make for an exciting playoffs after a couple of years once the idea catches on.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

Phati,

Will you please clarify this post? If Miami makes the finals, it means that Detroit cannot.

You do realize that Miami and Detroit cannot face each other in the championship series…right???

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

Well people of our background all across the US, trace their affinity for Rockets back to Olajuwon days and are still loyal to the team…plus my local team’s record/owner leaves a lot to be desired…

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

kobe isn’t in the playoffs .. snifs .. but still he rocks .. ..

i Think Miami will win .. they have shaq .. huge wall .. :=s .. plus look at their record for this season .. after they got shaq their coach was in NBA all star i Think .. n their record is reallyyyyyyyyyy good compare to last year .. :=s .. never heard about Heat before but now everywhere its Miami Heat cuz of shaq .. their team is really strong .. timberwolves is out which i always thought is a pretty stong team .. i wanted to see KG playing against shaq but too bad .. :=( .. khair i wana see spurs with the championship this year but it looks like heat will take it .. n also i wana see Pacers And pistons in any round .. .. really good teams n they play awesome against each other .. if they play then we will see some good basketball .. man can’t wait for the second round ..

so i wana see spurs with the championship but there are more chance for Miami to win ..

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

I think she meant how people can consider Miami an automatic at the finals when Detroit is still in the east.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

:smack: No, I didn’t mean that they’d be facing eachother off at the finals :smack2:. I was just saying that Miami MIGHT make the finals, but Detroit will SURELY make the finals

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

haha LoL. ok cool :k: I heard Olajuwon would even keep roze during Ramadan even during the NBA season . (Same with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar)

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

ok…thanks for the clarification. :biggthumb:

:kaboom: Detroit Pistons

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

they’ve got a 2-0 series lead vs. the sixers. :snooty:

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

Yea. Pretty much the entire starting 5 for the Pistons is good. Richard Hamilton is a strong player for the team.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2005

Your are looking at the glass as half full. The half empty view would be to say that the Sixers are only 2 games back in the series.

They are a good team and a Detroit vs Seattle final would be a matchup of two very similar teams.

Predictions of Finals Scenarios:

Miami: 6 or 7 game series with West taking the title.

Detroit: 4 or 5 game series with West taking the title.

Last year’s matchup against the Lakers would have been better with a healthy Malone. Pistons might have still won…but it would have been a better series.
