Mr Sharif’s reception at the White House would be less opulent, partly because of the post-government shutdown effects, but largely a reflection of difficulties in bilateral relations over the past few years and continued worries in Washington about the PML-N government’s position on fighting terrorist groups operating from Pakistani soil.
Why is America dictating on Pakistani policy towards Afghanistan, india etc when it comes to India, it is never a zero sum game with regards to Pakistan. Jee Saeen all the way to white house shareef jee.
here is N$ baggage to Washington. rare fish in the bowl for O’bum-ma for outbound journey
[as gift to American Nation]
**bowlful of cash **on the **inbound journey!
**[as compensation for Pakistani lives lost in Drone strikes]
NS is probably taking a list of the 3 or 4 senior most generals with him as well (it might be the main purpose of his visit) to discuss with his masters

:) You got it all. But then this is the history of Pakistan when colonial British rulers left sub continent. Earlier rulers made Pakistan as colony of Sam where as India became the biggest democracy of the world. :)
You guys are just geniuses. First you say Pakistan is American's puppet and then with the same breath you say Pakistan is colluding with the Taliban against the US. How can you think that both can be possible?
Also it seems the puppet got 1.6 billion dollars in aid, including US support for Badshabad (spelling?) Dam. I guess so far not a bad visit.
Previous gov't have been given aid and nothing comes about. This is not going to be much different and likely a continuation of the existing policy Af/Pak policy.
We share a common stance against terrorism, and our shared will and desire to stabilize the region continues to binds us together. It is easy to see that our nations are working hard to create a healthy working relationship. We’ve seen the negatives of staying on the opposites sides of the fence, and at the same time, we’ve greatly benefited from working closely. It only makes sense for us to be on the same page for the betterment of the region. These meetings allow us to address any shared concerns in regards to our common objectives. We are working hard to build on our improving relationship. We’ve always said that we cannot have a stable region without a stable Pakistan. We’ve always appreciated all of Pakistan’s sacrifices in the region and look forward to maintaining a good working relationship for the safety of our nations.
We could've done things differently but did we have a choice? Remember, the afghan war per se started well before zia ul haq took over i.e. after dauod khan took over and made moves against Pakistan so Pakistan was aligned with the escaped rabbani, massoods and dostum (yes today's northern alliance :D ). I do think we screwed up with propagating violent deobandiism / wahabbism (more wahabbiism) and then not having a plan and guts to shut things down when the afghan war was winding up. If we had taken stock around 1989 then our situation would not have been this bad today, but that is asking for leadership from Pakistanis and as many analysts have said, the british rule has made us kammis who are devoid of any leadership qualities.
We need some one like Ataturk now to take out of this mess. By Ataturk I mean a person who can take extreme measures now to reverse the downward spiral.
A planted PM can never have commanding respect as real elected PM specially before the very masters who help brought him into power! Nawaz Sharif is waste of space and even worst than Zardari, proven now, he got nothing sorted and it was just media photoshoot and nothing else!
