Nawab Akbar Bugti Killed (MERGED)

Re: Bugti family feud over suucession and his Rs 670 million annual royalties

Lest we forget what “poor” Bugti was about.

Re: Nawab Akbar Bugti Killed (MERGED)

Here is a reply to the above quoted letter

THIS is with reference to Vice Admiral (r) Iqbal F. Quadir’s letter “The Bugti I met” (Sept 6). It was disturbing to read Mr Quadir’s analogy of Mr Bugti’s death with that of the Quaid and Nawabzada Liaqat Ali Khan. I am afraid his was an emotional letter based on just one meeting with Mr Bugti. He seems to have been carried away by the late governor’s charm.

So what if Mr Bugti considered buying a few colognes for his guards. We must not forget that he treated Balochistan as his personal domain throughout his life. He denied its people the right to even the most basic amenities enjoyed by the civilized world and used force to resist any development activity in his area while he and his family amassed great wealth and power. The only thing he did allow the Baloch was to have arms, and loads of them. Perhaps he was afraid that his people would stand up against his self-imposed rule if they were to become more prosperous.

As a result, Pakistan’s largest province and perhaps the richest in untapped natural resources is in a mess, with its people still living in the primitive age. I was also shocked to learn that August 14 was celebrated by his ‘subjects’ by hoisting black flags instead of the Pakistani flag. It is high time that the people of Balochistan enjoyed their due share of the riches of their beautiful province. This can only happen if President Musharraf is supported in his efforts to develop Balochistan on war footings.

^^
And that development require the killing of minorities in Pakistan. West or the US will not invest $s otherwise. Anyways minorities are there to protect majorities and to sacrifice their lives and livings when required. They must host the refugees for majorities (to get benefits) and they can be subjected to death either by the Soviets or Americans or even by bounty killers during their hunt for “the most wanted”.

It looks like “pay per death” deal.

‘WAR ON TERROR,’ AFRICAN CONFLICTS THREATEN MINORITIES: UN-ASSISTED REPORT
The so-called “war on terror” as well as African civil conflicts have heightened the threat to minorities around the world, placing groups in Iraq and Sudan most at risk, according to a study released at United Nations Headquarters today.

In fact, in war today, the targeting of ethnic minorities is no longer the exception but has become the norm,” Mark Lattimer, Executive Director of MRG, said at the launch of the study at UN Headquarters in New York.

Except for Musharaf, his army, his ML and his supporters, every one in this country is a traitor (at the moment) and must be killed to ensure security and development. And Musharaf is a true soldier in this war-on-terror and the best friend Bush ever had.

As for the economical situation in Balochistan (assuming that Bugti was also a terrosist as he was declared by this government):

Re: Nawab Akbar Bugti Killed (MERGED)

Weeks after the event, Pak media and people continue to condem the Nawab’s murder, and side with the Baloch people:

http://www.dawn.com/2006/09/12/op.htm#2

It is not only in Balochistan that the repercussions have been felt, the whole opposition is up in arms. Even members of the treasury benches have condoled his death. All political activities have been hovering around this unfortunate incident. The public figures are, as usual, divided. On the one hand, there are people like Nasim Zehra who have refused to accept an award from the government, while on the other, there are several who issue one statement after the other to justify the events.

But Nasim Zehra is a noted columnist and one who initially supported General Musharraf, so she can hardly be suspected of not being principled on this issue. This is one indicator that the Balochistan policy of the present regime is not working. If other indicators are needed, one should read newspaper columns and letters to the editor. Even the Urdu press, which is generally opposed to issues of ethnic identity, condemns this particular action. As for the letters, while a few call Akbar Bugti a rebel, most openly condemn his death and call him a hero

The point, however, is that we must differentiate between Akbar Bugti and Balochistan. While Bugti has become an icon of the Baloch at present, he has not always been so. At the same time, while the charge that he did several things in his personal interest may be true, this does not mean that he never did things for the Baloch people.

In any case, no matter what one may say about Akbar Bugti, one cannot argue that there is no problem in Balochistan and that it has not been created by government policies. The argument that foreign powers, such as India, may have a hand in the fanning of anti-Punjab hatred may be true.

However, it is only when there is a problem, when people are dissatisfied and when there is a perception of injustice, that foreign propaganda works. If everybody is satisfied, it does not work.

For now, the government must give a truthful account of the death of Akbar Bugti. If anyone of the functionaries of the state is to be blamed, this should be done.

The government should also apologise unconditionally for the human tragedy involved. To call Akbar Bugti a rebel is to reinforce the idea of ethnic conflict and create an East Pakistan-like feeling. It also amounts to the state not admitting its mistakes which creates and increases anger. Along with all this, a process of peace and reconciliation must start afresh — and this time nobody should use military force to wreck it.

What are you smoking? The NA member of JWP resigned after Bugti’s murder and JWP member of Senate resigned their seat, even before Bugti’s killing

U talking nonsense as usual

http://www.dawn.com/2006/09/12/index.htm

Senator Amanullah Kanrani of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) has resigned from Senate. In his letter to Senate chairman, issued here on Wednesday night, he said the attitude of the centre was hostile and discriminatory towards federating units.

Re: Bugti Had Asked For It

More proof of your falsehoods

http://www.dawn.com/2006/09/04/top2.htm

The Balochistan National Party on Sunday announced that it decided to resign from the National Assembly, Senate and the provincial assembly and all local bodies in protest against the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti and the ‘disgraceful’ burial of his body.

The decision was announced by Sardar Akhtar Mengal, chief of his own faction of the Balochistan National Party, at a joint public meeting held at Manan Chowk here under the aegis of the ARD, PONM and the ANP.

Re: Nawab Akbar Bugti Killed (MERGED)

A reply from some guy who lives in America vs a senior official who lives and served in Pakistan throughout his while life.

Once again showing those ‘Pakistanis’ living abroad seem to think the murder was justified, whereas the majority of those in Pak realize how much of a blunder it was

Re: Bugti Had Asked For It

Yup, as I said even Bugti’s **JWP ** has not resigned their seats in the assemblies after the demise of their leader. The BNP is not Bugti’s JWP in case you did not know. Thanks for proving my point. :rotfl:

Re: Bugti Had Asked For It

As already mentioned JWP’s single NA member resigned after Bugti’s murder, this is hardly a secret. You need to learn instead of living in your dream world

In addition you also said other opposition parties. When you make a mistake, you should just admit it.

Re: Bugti Had Asked For It

In fact he defected to the government ranks months ago. This is what I said in my original post that you seemed to have misread out of your blinding bias.

***But as we can see when it comes to the crunch the MMA, PPPP, PML N, ANP, and even Bugti’s JWP have not resigned their seats in the assemblies as they promised in protest against the actions against the Nawab. ***

Here take another read. :rotfl:

http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showpost.php?p=4403795&postcount=499

FACT - Only 2 of the 442 Federal Parliamentarians (MNA’s + Senators) have resigned their seats in protest at Bugti’s killing. As I said words have not been followed up by deeds. :jhanda:

Re: Nawab Akbar Bugti Killed (MERGED)

A link to your own post? You are ignoring reality again.

Everybody in Pakistan knows he resigned approx1-2 weeks ago, followed by a long speech, that was applauded by even those on the Treasury benchs

It seems you are too far away from Pakistan to know what is gong on.Make up stories and ignore reality if you want, you only make people laugh at you.

Re: Nawab Akbar Bugti Killed (MERGED)

Which disproves what you claimed I had written, but here is another one for you.

http://www.paktribune.com/news/index.shtml?148888

**Nephew of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, the Chief Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and Member National Assembly Mir Haider Bugti announced rebellion against JWP and expressed his support for government`s ongoing uplift projects in Balochistan. **

Now could you please present some links to prove your claim?
