Massive operation in Baluchistan. One colonel and Major along with 20/21 law enforcing personnel killed. Around 60 of Bugti's men killed including him and two of his grandsons.
This can't be good. This thing will have very bad repercussions. A better alternative would've been to loch him up. I just have a very bad feeling about this. None of the ppl interviewed on TV were positive about this.

^I agree,repercussions can be big...I can't think of any solution to this mess right now....but Bugti tribes should be made felt that they are Pakistani citizens too..

Nawab Bugti was killed in the battle, officials say
Tribal leader Nawab Akbar Bugti has been killed in a battle between tribal militants and government forces in Balochistan province, Pakistan says.
The battle near his mountain hideout in south-west Pakistan also caused heavy casualties on both sides, reports say.
More than 20 soldiers and at least 30 rebels died, officials say.
The octogenarian has been at the head of a tribal campaign to win political autonomy and a greater share of revenue from Balochistan’s gas reserves

There will not be any repercussions, as the whole "Bugti Baloch rebellion" was on it's deathbed anyways after the capture of upto a thousand of his men some weeks ago. Only the other aday 10,000 people from his tribe gathered in Dera Bugti to proclaim the end of the Sardari system and strip the Nawab of his leadership role for that tribe. His death will finally free his people from the shackles of feudalism and they will share in the massive development going on around them in Balochistan.

One of the most wanted men In Pakistan history has been killed. Although as much as horrible it sounds, it remains to be seen what was the motive of that operation. Because Govt would not want to kill him altogether. Even if his death is lamentable, this can only be good for Pakistan as Balochs will finally be reached out and brought on the road to development.
Dont believe whatever anti-govt politicians are gonna say. They will politicize a death to no end. If some of them have the audacity to claim that Dr AQ Khan is being poisoned by Govt, then I dont expect anything postive from them and they will call this operation an assassination which I highly doubt it was. Still eagerly waiting for the details.

The same should be done to the Pagaras and the Chaudries and Khars...and rid Pakistan off feudalism for good.

Indeed it is not a good news, one our 20 Army people including that Col and Major are killed and second, it may ignite the sentiments of the people particularly those who were still in between and now they may also join Bugti tribe or at least may change their sympathy.
I agree he should have been arrested. Killing will have serious repercussions. Though there was scanty hope before, but now the gate of talks is permanently closed.

sad to hear of so many deaths including the nawabs and his grandsons, but taking to arms was never a wise idea. i hope the basic needs of the people in western pakistan are being met.

**Dera Bugti Jirga approves 15 resolutions for ending Tribal rule in region **
DERA BUGTI: A Grand Jirga, which convened on Thursday, approved 14 resolutions pertaining to Declaration of Loyalty, End of Sardari system, “extradition” of wanted criminals, and other local matters.
The Bugti National Interim Council has sanctioned the resolutions, while a Bugti jury Council has also been established.
The very first Resolution announces the steadfast and diehard loyalty of Bugti tribesmen to the Federation of Pakistan, and fight against anyone endeavoring to break the Country.
The Second Resolution announces an immediate end to the long prevalent Nawabi (Sardari) rule of the Province, and also puts an end to the “katcheri system” as well, while being full loyal to the governmental laws.
The Third Resolution announces the end of derogatory traditions of the region, which include the one that entails marrying prospective brides as atonement for murders, or “purchasing a bride”. It has been decided that clergy would solemnize any such marriage either. Anybody who tries to break the vow would be fined Rs. 100,000.
The Fourth Resolution purports to set up a district reconciliatory Committee, which would help arbitrate various disputes and feuds between the tribesmen. This committee would also establish sub-committees at union and tehsil levels, which would help solve the internal and external disputes of the tribesmen. The Committee also announced the end of all feuds between the Bugti tribesmen, on the auspicious occasion.
The Fifth Resolution requests the neighboring tribes of Marri, and others to hand over Akbar Bugti, Brahamdagh Bugti, and Mir Aali alias Mamdoo, to the Bugti Council, so that they should face the tribal Jirga for their crimes.
According to the Sixth Resolution, it has been decided to dispose all the property of Bugti and distribute the spoils among those who have suffered past tyrannies grievously.
The Seventh Resolution pertains to demolishment of all the chambers of torture and “other perversities” of the past, while the Eighth resolution announces the establishment of a jury, which would investigate various past cases of individual and collective cruelties and perversities, and impart its final decisions and penalties, and which would be mandatory to imply.
The Ninth Resolution endeavors to take strict action against those trying to create any kind of unrest in the region.
The tenth Resolution clarifies the Bugti as true and patriotic Pakistanis and invites President Musharraf and PM Shaukat Aziz to visit the region.
The Eleventh Resolution urges that all the companies involved in the gas exploration and development to play their active and mandatory part in the welfare and goodwill of the Bugti region.
The** twelfth Resolution** announces immediate abolishment of extortion and would be severely punishable by law.
The Thirteenth Resolution urges Pakistan to speed up its exploration of gas and other minerals of the area, thus ending unemployment, poverty, and uncertainty in the region.
The Fourteenth Resolution passes a motion of no confidence against all the elected union and district nazims and councilors and a fresh election for the future nazims.
The fifteenth Resolution demands that district of Dera Bugti be declared an A zone area so that writ of governmental laws and regulations should gather force.
The prominent members of the region who have verified the Resolutions include, Chief of Masoori Ali Muhammad Masoori, Chief of Kalpars, Jalal-Ur-Rehman, Chief of Ferozani, Nabi Baksh, Mir Ahmad Khan Rahija, Sardar Sobedar Khan Khyazai, Wadera Meva Khan Nothani and Wadera Muhammad Bux Khan. The committee for the resolution of disputes includes Aham Jan Kalper, Wadira Barani and Haji Vizi of Kalpar tribe, Khan Muhammad Masoori, Ali Sher Masoori and Ali Muhammad of Masoori tribe, Mir Ahmad Khan, Mir Usman Khan and Wadira Shah Nawaz of Rahija tribe, Mir Haji, Bahar Khan and Wadira Bakhtiar Khan of Nothani tribe, Wadira Sakka Khan, Wadira Gul Gahor and Naroz Khan of Ferozani tribe and Sardar Sobedar Khan, Wadera Dalilehan and Zabar Khan of Khyazai tribe.
