Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
MQ no one says that you have to celebrate by doing something crazy. I'm talking about people who on independence day sit there and say "oh whatever, I'm so not proud to be a pakistani - in fact, I wish my parents were born elsewhere" type attitude.
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
^ those ppl are insecure angraiz wannabees who have a huge complex about their identity and origin.

Yea I’m on MSN right now and I just told one of my idiot ABCD “friends” happy pakistani independence day and she’s like “what? oh omg it’s paki independence day?!? i didn’t even know! nobody told me! hehehehehehe”
i felt like smacking her. imbicile.
Happy Independence Day to you all. Pakistan Zindabad:jhanda:
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
Well now thats silly. Stuff some socks down their throats. I find those types of people annoying.
I mean its hardly our fault we or our parents rather were born in another country :o
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
Some people think it's not so important because it's not like an opinion or a choice we've made. We're born with this background, and it's nothing you can change. You just accept it and move on. More like being "forced" to celebrate it because that's the ethnicity you were born into.
Not my thoughts, just heard it from someone.

Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
its sadly true- what are Pakistanis proud of- what have they done for Pakistan and islam in the past 58 years- all we see is corruption, crime, poverty, unislamic activities
no wonder one of the largest pakistani descent community abroad in Britain are prefering to call themselves Kashmiris rather then Pakistani (60-80% of Pakistanis in Uk are of kashmiri descent after all-)
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
Imanwalla - pakistan has done much. Prior to Pakistan's formation, the present-day region of Pakistan was contributing less than 5% or so of the subcontinent's wealth. After Pakistan's formation, the number has gone way up - I dont recall the number - its like 20 or 40 or some percent.
In 50 plus years, we've set up a darn good army/military. We've produced a successful quom of which many are doctors, writers, lawyers, scientists, IT folks, etc etc etc.
We've got one of the most creative and innovative music industries around. Our media and television is excellent and top notch in the subcontinent - our news media has especially come up recently with channels like ARY and GEO, which is pretty proffessional and a great advancement from old state-censored PTV.
Our fashion industry is topping it these days. Our textiles industry is growing nicely. Tourism is slowly growing in Pakistan given the country's efforts to promote a soft image. Musharraf's leadership has had a massive impact on the country.
And don't even get me talking about how great the property investment right now is in Pakistan. With the really good apartment/housing complexes that are cropping up in Islamabad/Karachi/Lahore, things are looking great for property.
Kalabagh dam is going to help the economy a lot.
Education is being made available to villages in Punjab now finally - and I'm sure other provinces will soon be following suit. People are actively involved in public life. Volunteerism is going great with foundations like the Edhi foundation doing a great deal.
They are trying very hard over there to fight the negative image that Pakistan has.
This website that you are on is proof of what Pakistanis are capable of.
Just because maybe you're not capable of much doesn't mean that Pakistan hasn't achieved anything.
Sure there are negatives, but I think we focus on the negatives wayyyy too much.
Besides, if you feel so negatively...exactly what are you doing for Pakistan?

Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
Care to explain pcg...the one reason why obtained freedom, in the first place?
It surely was'nt for a thriving economy or for better education standards or for a democratic and secular state. We could have obtained all this while still being with India.
And have been able to do justice to that one reason, for which thousands of people shed their blood?
I shall celebrate Pak Independence when that one purpose will be fulfilled.
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
Erm, the purpose was so that MUSLIMS could have a "thriving economy" and "better education standards". I wont comment on the democratic and secular state bit, since Jinnah's theories and the theories of state-builders after him were different on religious grounds, but that's ok. Difference is a good thing.
As for "having been able to do justice to that one reason"... exactly what have you done to help Pakistan "do justice to that one reason"?
If you haven't done anything, then why complain?
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
Wrong answer PCG.
And since i dont find myself answerable to you, you dont stand a chance of recieving an answer from me..for that question.
and who's complaining?
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
You were when you said "unfortunately" with respect to how your parents are from Pakistan.
Funny thing is you're on a Pakistani website. Practically addicted to it.
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
LOL.
Well pcg, i said that on digi...and i was'nt all that serious at that time, is anyone ever serious on digi, other than you who always has her sleeves rolled up and ready for a fight?
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
no no not you ![]()
it was some retard. not even a friend. i’d like to shoot her, actually.
Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
It's not a pakistani official website... it is a site maintained in USA and owned by a person of pakistani descend living in USA... I dunno if he is a citizen oF USA as well or not?
Pakistan was supposed to be an Islamic Republic... It's on its way of destruction due to our own rebellion to our Religion.

Re: Nationalism on Independence Day
On the contrary, I am not ashamed to be of pakistani descent.
There is a reason. I still believe that whatever is happening is with the will of ALLAH:swt: and He is Khair-ul-Maakireen (The best planner). Quran is evident that ALLAH:swt: brings good out of evil.
There are ahaadeeth mentioning about Khurasaan from where caravans of military will go to join Mehdi:as: … and historians agree that Khurasaan at the time of Prophet:saw: used to be a big place, areas consisting of Afghanistan, Malakand division of Pakistan and part of Iran.
Having said that, in the unbelievable circumstances in which Pakistan was created, rather was revealed from the sky on the night of Miraaj, it is evident that ALLAH:swt: has a plan for it. A better one.
