National politics in our family life

I’ve noticed, at least for most of the part, that in countries like USA, if you are a Republican then your whole family will be and so on and so forth. It is not like that in Pakistan. It was very common to see in Karachi that Parents are JI supporters while Son is a MQM activist. I’ve seen families where unmarried siblings living in the same household are supporting different parties. Even in my own home, in late 80’s early 90’s time frame, during some election time, we had two flags waving on our rooftop; PPP (my sister) and MQM (my brother).

IS it still like that in Pakistan? How about India?

Re: Politics in our family life

Yes its still same in Pakistan. Even in political families one brother may be from PPP and other from PML(N).

Re: Politics in our family life

I thought the thread is about saas-bahoo ki family politics

Re: Politics in our family life

aap ko PPP aa rahee hai kya? chai kum piya karain.

:rotfl:

BTW, I think that people from same family (especially active politicians) select different political parties to get advantage of the party who comes in rule. Simply opportunist approach

Re: Politics in our family life

Yup still like that. At least at my place.

My dad is a hardcore PPP supporter. Me and my mom support PTI. My sister says she’s gonna vote for MQM when they don’t even have a candidate here. :hehe:

Re: Politics in our family life

I am not talking about the politician families but general public.

I like to hear your dinner table conversation when everyone is present

Re: Politics in our family life

I remember arguing with my Dadi (who was a supporter of PPP) during college days. She was of the opinion that 'apna maar kar bhi chhaon main rakhta hai' and I used to say 'apna hai to marta kiyun hai'. This argument made my Abba annoyed and he asked to shut-up, but Dadi said to Abba ' hum Dadi pote ke beech mat aao. hamen apne bachon se baaten karna acha lagta hai' :)

Re: Politics in our family life

^ So cute of your dadi :D

I agree with your part of argument though :D

Re: Politics in our family life

This family politics has taken Pakistan down

A father who is a supporter of PML N his son his wife and daughter will also be supporter of PML N too and when asked why u support u know they are tried and tested failure they say Kyunki mere abu kehte hai ke PML N he theek hai baki nhe :sadaf:

Re: Politics in our family life

Woah, Pakistan has 182 registered political parties. At national level, India has only six. We won, we won :champ:
