PTI will be holding its own conference on developing a consensus on how to tackle terrorism but they will not be inviting JUIF, ANP, PMLN and MQM. The first three parties are a must in the context of KPK/FATA. I personally do not support this approach of PTI (of selective consensus), as countering terror will require a collective approach. The provincial government alone cannot solve this issue, especially when they wont have backing of other groups active within the province.
“All political parties whose ideologies are compatible with the PTI’s manifesto will be invited,” Qawi said.
He, however, made it clear that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP) would not be invited to the moot, “as these parties have failed to deliver on their promises”.
Re: National consensus: Imran’s party to hold national conference on terrorism
I can see how this will work out so well. In PTIs conference they will say how America is evil, Taliban are our people (even if they are from Russia or Arabia) and we should hand most of NE to them. I can't see anything going wrong with that. PTI is fast becoming more and more like Taliban.
Re: National consensus: Imran’s party to hold national conference on terrorism
abay to “national consensus” kahan se ho gaya? just another excuse for feasts, party, gatherings, socialising… aao hum bhi APC karayn, sirf apnay doston ki.
Re: National consensus: Imran’s party to hold national conference on terrorism
Although i can understand what Imran is trying to do with continuous peace talk mantra but you can't just tilt towards one side and pretend all will be well. Talibans don't miss any opportunity to cause immense damage to Pakistan so even if he thinks peace talks are important, also needs to clearly send a message that these idiots need to stop their attacks right now.
As for this national conference, would be very stupid if PMLN and Fazloo aren't invited ( i can't actually believe they are thinking about it).
Re: National consensus: Imran’s party to hold national conference on terrorism
This would be a senseless decision, if at all it has been made. What surprises me is that something as major as this has not be reported by any other media source. Till it is reported by someone else, I would take it with a grain of salt.

"conference scheduled for October 5 in Islamabad. The PTI’s conference will focus on how to ensure peace in the volatile areas, particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. More than 500 political and religious scholars will attend the conference, which will issue a white paper, highlighting Islamic teachings on peace. "

I am all for it.
When people don't do their job, or they are not credible, then poor PTI end up doing their work.

Agreed....when someone doesn't deliver then another someone has to step up.
The problem in this case is that, unless something has changed, PTI does not currently have what it takes to step up and deliver a solution.
Besides.....a conference should be just that....a conference where you invite those that do not share the same views to attend so that, at the very least, you can show them the wisdom in your approach and potentially benefit from even one sensible voice from their side.
The fear of becoming "just another party" is fast becoming reality for PTI.......

I think MQM is also a 'must' in such a conference. Karachi may appear to be farthest geographically from KPK/FATA but given the impact it has from there, MQM deserves to be invited.
